I think that the composers knew that they wouldn't be able to compare whatever arrangement of the Dark World they make to the original, so they made this version which doesn't sound like any other remix of the Dark World known to man. No orchestration, no rock, no techno... just a dark-sounding theme. =)

There's no denying the greatness of the original version. To this day, it's one of my favorite video game BGMs. However, this, in my opinion, is an excellent remix. Had this song been in Twilight Princess, it would have fit perfectly, and that by itself makes it great. Also, it's a perfect balance for all of the epic battle themes on the Brigde of Eldin stage in Brawl, and it still manages to fit the mood of the battles to a tee. As great as the original was, I just don't see it fitting as well.

I bet the reason why they did that, so it wouldn't contrast witht he original scenery of that particular level of the Subspace Emissiary. Even though it is a fighting game, what draws other people to a game is how well the background music as well as the artwork/graphics are efforted into it..Together.

I have no idea about the previous Zelda games (but I soon will) but that's just my opinion.

The reason it was remade this way was because it was used in a "happy" way. If you played the game, this theme is used generally for a beautiful forest scene, and it matches it perfectly. The actual dark world theme is suppose to be dark, yes. However, you have to give them props; this arrangement is beautiful!
