  • I adore this song, so dark and cold ^^ but what's the pic at 00:30? I really love it!!

  • @Tristanique

Reminds me of Björk's Hidden Place video!

  • @trance57 Yes I thought exactly the same! But apparently it's another thing.

  • Perfection.

  • she's got an extraordinary voice that really touches me.. so different from most other young female singers who all sound so alike..

the lyrics are both profound and beautiful.

  • Great Marc Almond cover version. I love it!

  • power in her voice

  • her voice holds a kind of despair that makes me think she have lost someone very dear to her. It touches me in a very strange way.

  • Wasn't the whole of her Fishermans Woman album in dedication to her dead lover?

  • oh really? Now I most definitely need to hear the rest of the songs from that album :)

  • she lost her boyfriend in a terrible car accident

  • its like a james bond intro soundtrack

  • Like that song,thats mystical,madrigal,and magical.

If you can read the lyrics between the line.

    Thanx for posting.

  • Wtf? 1:30 Massive

  • it´s from the "heartstopper" video

    i love this video

  • This song is too good for a commercial action movie franchise like James Bond in my humble opinion. I can't think of anything worse than having a Bond actor's eyes superimposed over the beautiful imagery this song about the loss of a telepathically close relationship conjures. As anyone remotely psychic should know, thoughts and emotions do indeed seep through walls. The power of this song is far greater than any movie for my money.

  • As for this being an ideal Bond theme, I tend to agree. Lately action movies have been getting more complex psychologically, and there is often enough depth in the plot and imagery for a creative fan to explore. I have yet to see Quantum Of Solace, though, so I don't know if Craig's character is enough of an antihero for Telepathy's lyrics to fit. Not that the lyircs of the typical Bond theme fit the plots of their respective movies perfectly, of course... but I do tend to agree with spiegel.

  • Just how many remotely psychic people are we talking about? The "seeping through walls" starts and stops with poetry...

  • Respectfully, I disagree. This lyric was not written just to convey an abstract image. In this case, I would argue it could hardly be clearer to what the 'they' refers in 'they seep through walls'. Not only is the whole title of the song (a central clue to its meaning) 'Telepathy', but the previous sentence to which the word 'they' refers back runs 'Share your thoughts with me; send them over land and sea!' 'They seep through walls' means 'Your thoughts seep through walls'.

  • I'm afraid i didn't say anything for you to disagree with, solger7. Yes, the "they" refers to "thoughts" quite explicitly, and I never claimed that your point about telepathy was based on misinterpreted lyrics.

Both in your post form last month and in my reply, the "seeping through walls" is a paraphrase for telepathy. And what *I* meant to say by "starts and stops with poetry" is that the concept of human telepathy is fictional rather than scientific. Pardon the not-so-subtle sarcasm ^_^

  • "Both in your post form last month..."

    should be

"Both in your post from last month..."

  • Just to avoid a further misunderstanding, I acknowledge telepathy as a powerful element of contemporary culture. As a staple of prose and poetry it can be quite inspired and inspiring, and Emiliana's song is a good example. You had me at "telepathically close relationship". However, your mention of "anyone remotely psychic" sorta broke the charm, and I may have overreacted.

Really, it's nice that you think of telepathy as more than a lyrical concept, but as a scientist I can't follow you there.

  • It reminds me a looot of portished

    btw it's amazing

  • my eyes are looking for your eyes

  • i like her newer stuff better, this sounds too bjorkish for me

  • sounds like a "bond"- song :D

    like it <3

  • I agree. I think this would have made a MUCH better Bond song for Qunatumn of Solace than that piece of tripe Jack White & Alicia Keys did. When Torrini sings " I can see into your eyes" they could have shown Daniel Craig's piercing blue eyes and I'm sure it would have given people shivers. Hell, she even mentions they're blue in the song. And on top if it all, the rest of the lyrics make sense for the plot of the movie. Missed opportunity for the Bond people.

  • one of my favourite female artists along with Tori Amos. String theory?

  • yes, quite bjorkish sounding.

    Very nice indeed :)

  • emiliana torrini and bjork sound very alike sometimes.

there is a small possibility that it's because they are both from iceland and it may be the accent coming through or something. id don't know. it's a long shot. (i'm from iceland by the way.)

    but anyway.

    emiliana torrini is awesome.

  • i loooove her voice. its so strong and emotive.

    mm

  • She has a distinctive voice... cooly sexy.

  • wow,this song is really great,that voice highs!GREAT!!

  • ?????

I'm sure that was supposed to be a joke, but what in the world does sexual orientation have to do with any of this?

  • is this really emiliana? doesn't sound like her sometimes...not in a bad way just different.

  • "I can see into your eyes

The deepest blue of winter skies"

cette chqason c'est vraiment le style de bjork

  • This cd, "Love in the time of the science", was producted by Roland Orzabal, not by Bjork.

  • Roland Orzabal of Tears for Fears... :Swoon:

    No WONDER!

    Amazing =-)

  • 00:30 bjork's lips!

  • One of my favorites, cool song!

  • this is my favorite song she does... but this song is two parts ... got to hear both back to back... fingertips right before this just blends beautiful.

  • hi im frome mexico, and i haven't benn able to listen the full song of the other version that you mention, you know where i can listen the full version of it. please please reply me this comment

  • i love this song!

  • In fact, Björk composed Gollum's song for her in The lord of the rings' soundtrack.

  • So is she from Italy? But she does her music in Iceland with Bjork?

  • She is from iceland, her father is italian, she don't make her music with bjork. She made 2 cd of covers in Iceland, but her first work was made in London.

  • She's from Iceland baby

  • she did not, however, she was offered t5o write the song, but the filmmakers wrote one for björk as she was too pregnant to make one herself. then when she didn't want to record it it was given to emiliana.
