I would paint the inside with rubberized rock gaurd it takes up alot of resonance and dampens sound really good, and you may still be able to put the inner cardboard bit inside too. I would also do the outside in it too, it is paintable aswell. On top of your current meathods it would help alot. Due to space constraints you are never going to dampen it that great but it all adds up. Cheers mate. IC
I build these for a living, I can build and repair these things in my sleep. Heres what you do take clutch gear wheel off and lightly coat the gear with high temp bearing grease. dont put to much because you dont want it to get on the clutch disc. By doing this fixes the problem every time.
There is a commercial product out- with dampeners that cover the gears and the clutch covers on the other side of the motor- They have some kind of absorbent material foam rubber, covered on the outside by aluminum. They are pre-cut form fitting and have adhesive on the out sides to stick to the motor's covers. A couple of vendors at Motorbicycingcom sell them- Pirates and Sick Bikes on the web. about $20 shipped.
I'm going to make a "before and after" vid I'll post up here
There is something called "dyna mat" it is a rubber pad that comes in a roll and is used to deaden the unwanted resonance in automobile body panels. It was designed for autos with HIGH powered stereo systems. I have used it, and it should do the trick nicely!
Listen the the guy who made this bike. I am a master small engine technician, you cannot put oil or and liquid in the clutch housing. The only thing you car use is grease on the crankshaft.
@skutits69 Its a dry clutch, so no oil. Also no fuel could get to it. If there is then there would be a bigger problem then noisy gears. Please dont comment calling me dumb when you dont have your facts straight.
@brendonv101 it is supposedto have oil or greese in the clutch and the cardbord is a bad idea cause its just going to get ripped apart nd cause problems
@cjmotorsified dude u dont want oil or grease in a clutch cause that will make it slip and every thing will stick together maybe causing something to mail function and the grease will just end up getting burned off any way making a bad smell possibly causing a fire
@pyroman675 When i bought the motor there was oil in it already but it made the clutch slip so we put waterproof greese in it and its been fine. If there is gear noise that means the teeth are clanking together and if you put nothing on them the gears will just grind and wear themselves out. thats why i have the greese in it in the first place. Also it doesnt get hot enough in the gear case to cause a fire and greese doesnt burn easily so its not a problem.
@cjmotorsified and grease also catches dust and stuff and holds onto it. and they put oil on it to keep it from rusting and to keep it clean. but if its a wet clutch yes, you use oil
@taxskrem Yer it idled first time. Ur idle screw may be out to much. Just turn it in till it idles. Its on the left side of the carb above the bowl. A lil screw with a spring, just turn it.
You most likely don't need your chain tensioning wheel on the motor chain just take out a set of links if need and pull the wheel back, or if need be put in a ½ after taking out a set of links (1 inch of the chain length) to better get the right chin length. You have the back derailleur on the pedal side for the right tension on the other side, I use the plastic wheel tensionor on the pedal side because mine is a single speed.
I thought why put all that ware on the plastic wheel & use up some of the energy of the motor, & it's a little quieter now. Ive been riding all over town this way and it works great. Once I get my ½ link in the mail I dont think Ill have to use the chain idler at all. In the directions is does say that A chain idler is used to tighten chain if needed. If needed, is the point.
I'll let you know how the ½ link works. But never the less it does not really matter because I don't pedal that much to matter. Did you ever notice that the word pedal is kind of confusing, I mean you have Pedal, Petal Peddle. Like in Spanish you have, Pero, Pedro, Perro. O well best to you.
jw were did you get your kit and for how much cause i bought a 68.5cc kit for 75 us dollars and i dont know if its a crappy kit ill post a vid of it when it comes in the mail thx for the help

@russ244811 he lives in china and they work in their sleep thats why these motors are always sleeping instead of running BS,

dumb...you know that carboard will get eaten up by the gas and oil and just gum up your gears.

@brendonv101 aye it IS greased. ive built many of these and am familiar with them
yamahonkawazuki 1 year ago
@brendonv101 Nope not even grease. the clutch should be dry, if any grease/oil gets in it slips like hell. The gears are what need grease.

@skutits69 toally right - do not try to sound proof that area - if excessive noise is an issue remove the cover - no more noise.. try it

They make a rubberizing spray in the same type of cans as spray paint. Just spray the inside and outside, no need for a gasket then either.
