Yes , if these evil empires had left Iran alone, by now we could have had a reasonable government and not these cloth headed evil idioits in charge inm the country with the probelms that they have caused for the Iranian people. It is always the same though! these idiots poked there nasty fingers in Afghanistan,USSR, Balkans and caused a lot of problems for themselves! If they had not interfered, we may never have had these silly muslems in charge of the country which is not a real muslem land
Do not misinterpret what I am about to say, this is a deplorable act that has permanently marred US relations with the middle east. We have absolutely no credibility in the region until we take full responsibility for this operation. That being said, do not reduce the complexities of this situation to Michael Moore-esque anti-corporate rhetoric. The fact of the matter was that Iran was a VITAL chess piece during the cold war. Terrorism was unforeseeable due to the Communist threat at the time.
this video seems to underplay Britain and Churchill's role. the public do the same with regard to Iraq war and scapegoat Bush too much. it seems This country has its subtle propaganda too
As an American, this video is truly embarassing to me. Any stupid idiot who blindly says America is the greatest nation on Earth should take a look at some of our records in places like Iran. We don't have much to be proud of.
Youtube the following video titles at the bottom and watch them in order from top to bottom and you will get the big picture real fast what has been going against us since our birth of a nation, and why America is soooo far away from its original greatness and honor among great nations.
@Tinkerstien thank you :) We should make efforts to communicate our intentions with the world around us as well. That we understand the sins of our leaders and that we intend to rise up and show the world exactly why we were once so great and adored the world around. First though, we must reconnect and make new connections to freedom and TRULY progress and change and TRULY serve the purpose of our founders by escalating and furthering the philosophy of a free world. :) take care!
That seriously angers me how dirty the US and more specifically the CIA are. They go around supposedly promoting democracy, but only when it suits their purpose and when it doesn't, they overthrow a democratically elected leader (who actually was a good guy) and instate the Shah, who was a brutal dictator, for what? OIL!!! Truly disgusting.
You don't really know much about the history of the oil industry...the oil driller always gets alarge % of the oil profits because most holes drilled are dry holes.
Mossadeq wasn't as popular as you think...or the Iranian people would have taken to the streets to support him...they did not support him.
And what are you talking about, they did. After Mossadeq left, he went back to office because of the Shah's bend to popular opinion. Many did take to the streets, just for CIA payed-off agents to go to violent intimidation. And after he was overthrown, many of his supporters along with many other political opponents were executed thanks to the CIA trained SAVAK.
@EdwardRommel it'sfunny because the CIA did play a role in all of it.
A lot of this video is fact, most American media sources (especially Fox) are the real propaganda.
And that's because the CIA underestimated some of the people, in fact Carter even said he thought the Shah could handle himself, but underestimated the hatred that was against him.
The CIA has interfered with many other country's democracies just to support candidates that held their best interests.
@JapanYamatoman Actually, it DIDNT suit their purpose, as the history since demonstrates...it did suit certain corporate interests within the US and Britain, but not their national interests, just as the invasion of Iraq didnt suit US intersests...
No problem. I've added some of the sources in the description section. IT was quite a while ago that I made this documentary so there are also other secondary sources such as articles and op-eds that aren't listed.
Compensation was a big issue for the British but far more because it was Britain's main source of oil at the time. But what Iran was trying to do and was well within the law. Every country has the right to nationalise its own natural resources and protect its resources from foreign exploitation. Of course if Britain wasn't cheating them out of royalties (Which is very well documented.) and had accepted Iran's 50/50 offer then Iran may never have moved to nationalise its oil in the first place.
If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. . . . If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed.
"America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to freedom and independence of all. She is the champion and vindicator only of her own."
The CIA is still pulling this crap in S. America. Tried to get rid of Chavez. It's ironic, because most Americans are poor now. Why would they want to be broke asses like us?
Are you black or African? how could you possible understand his vies of socialism seeing as he was an elite scholar who spoke 12 languages and was in the USSR and the uk for many years?
Marxists were doing 9 million times more good for decolonization and the rights of blacks than the US ever has. The us was shamed into passing civil rights legalization.
what you wrote about is when the right and left are so extreme that they are the same. everyone knows that the basic generic political scale shows that.
Ask someone black in the US about the free world under Hoover, Roosevelt, Truman and Eisenhower. The US rounding up civil rights leaders during the McCarthy era and not membership of the KKK-not one.
Lincoln Rockwell never hounded but Paul Robeson's life nearly destroyed. The US is the biggest source of hypocrisy ever contrived.
"Kim Jong Il and tito were both socialist totalitarian leaders."
but Tito was as a great a leader as the world has ever seen and held a very fragmented region together-HE IS STILL MISSED! Go there and look at what Western European stupidity via Thatcher and Regan did after he died. The break up of the Balkans was idiocy.
All because the west wants to exploit.
so many Marxist countries had to fight against crap like Malan, Leopold and the threat or ghosts colonialism and fascist capitalism.
You can't seriously be using China and the GDR in the same sentence as Hitler?
And you think Tito and Kim IlJong are the same too, correct?
And everyone in Cuba and Vietnam are miserable correct? They have no free will?
Please!
That is the typical right wing fallacy of super slide. All those countries are very different from each other. You won't find ovens in Havana, i've been there.
Are you seriously comparing Mohammed Mossadeq to Adolf Hitler? Pull your head out your arse mate and actually try learning something about this incident rather than talking complete and utter nonsense.
watch and open your mind, the mullahs are the result of these conspiracies.how many people died and suffered and still do? its sooo easy to say:"look at these barbarians" isnt it?
At the time of the 1979 revolution, the US played a crucial role in deciding exactly who takes over. The sociailist parties in Iran at 1979 were a very strong force, although critical of the soviet model.
Attorney General Ramsey Clark was sent to Paris in 1979 to meet with Khomeini (then in exile) to ensure Khomeini's secure return to Iran, promising a military handover to an Islamic government, as well as the handover of the Shah's famous secret police
Wow... Overthrowing a government that was democratically elected in 1953 to replaced it with a monarchy/dictatorship just to have the country eventually taken over by an Islamic Theocracy in 1979 because of lingering anger over western/U.S. involment in the earlier coup.
Doesn't say much for the U.S.'s claims of bringing democracy to the world, especially if the country is just as willing to get rid of one. Corporatist elements it seems run every fabric of our lives. Very sad...

Admirable work. The facts put together here, are common knowledge among Iranians but make up part of history that less than 1% of American population is aware of. Operation Ajax is in fact at the roots of why America is viewed as a bully by people around the world today and that makes this video exceptional. It's not as simple as you think.
Where was the CIA in 1978-79 when the Shah was having problems?
Where was the CIA in 1959 when Bautista had problems in Cuba?
Where was the CIA in 1979 when Somoza had problems in Nicaragua?
The CIA was like the KGB..they could try to support certain candidates ..but ultimately it was the people who chose who they wanted.
A lot of this video is just anti-US propaganda.

....and Iran is only one example. The US has been doing this sort of thing all over the world for decades, if not a century or more.
Sometimes we do it behind the scenes, other times we simply invade a country to "protect our interests".
It interesting to note that there always seems to be somebody waiting in the wings to make a bundle off the situation.
