The knowledge was published by Indian astronomer, Aryabhata, in 499. The fact is that it was widely known. There is no need for modern scientific equipment to demonstrate that the moon reflects light - anyone who has seen an eclipse should be able to figure that out with a little bit of thought.

The knowledge was published by Indian astronomer, Aryabhata, in 499. The fact is that it was widely known. There is no need for modern scientific equipment to demonstrate that the moon reflects light - anyone who has seen an eclipse should be able to figure that out with a little bit of thought.
