  • i believe the gnostic christians were misunderstood in their teachings, they focused on the human side of Jesus which all of us can relate and at the same time can attain christlike character the more we obey him, and thus make us children of God

  • I believe your comments have much merit. I think the Gospel of Thomas does allow the seeker to become like Him! Just like the Gospel says, "Jesus says, "Whoever drinks from my mouth will become like me, and I myself shall become that person." It is our desire to become more and more like "The Christ," as he also had become. This is the secret that is being spread here. I have not read your book, yet but I am really looking forward to reading it. May we behold the Christ within each other!

  • The Gospel of Thomas actually has a claim on par with that of the canonical gospels to being an accurate representation of the words of Jesus. Scholars have disputed its date of composition, but many have placed its date between 50 AD and 100 AD (i.e. contemporaneous with the canonical gospels). The Coptic text is a translation of an earlier Greek work; scholars have suggested that the original text may have been in Aramaic.

  • I think he died on the "cross" (planetary configuration of star david) so that he will have the nativity seal when born again -- to provide objective evidence of soul and reincarnation.

  • When I read the Gospel of Thomas, it strikes me how similar the message is to Jungian (analytical) psychology, and how similar Jesus must have been to Nietzsche, compare Zarathustra. The focus is here and now - get to know yourself, be yourself and become who you are. And reunite what was once splitted in your mind. But what did it become of it all in history? - Nietzsche became nazism, Jesus became christianity - absurd misunderstandings of the original message!

  • That's nice Ashirman but I think there are too many people out there who emphasize the dogma of Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation that, Gospel of Thomas or not does not matter.

Today's Christianity emphasizes what you believe not wisdom.

  • Oh, how I wish other followers of Christ would read this and other documents hidden by the Catholic church! These are ESSENTIAL things to following Christ!!! The destruction, and or denouncement of these texts are surely crimes AGAINST God!! So many "Christians" are misled, and therefore misrepresenting Christ's message, and way. This has led to the rest of the world's skepticism of the Bible, as it is SO incomplete, and therefore fallible, and sort of nonsensical, and contradicting.

  • I'm a Christian who has a deep love and appreciation for the Bible, and yet I, unlike others, feel no need to turn a blind eye to whatever wisdom Jesus as recorded in texts like the Gospel of Thomas can provide. I, for one, am fascinated by the Gospel of Thomas, and think it is a powerful aid in the Christian Way.
