@elite1performance You say that, but 0-60 is exactly the same as the M5, they're both limited to 155, and delimited the RS6 has a smaller top speed than the M5. It may have nearly 70 more HP, but it weighs over a 100 kilos more.

Besides, there's a new M5 coming with a twin turbo V8 - 555 BHP. And 50 kilos lighter than the one now. Love to see the RS6 match that.

@elroriveraify I know it won't be like that forever - but Audis are very heavy cars. Even their R8 sueprcar is (basically a fast TT).

So what if the engine in the new M5 is the same as the X5-X6-M? The engine in the basic R8 is the same as the RS4. It's a good engine - so why make more than you need to? I wouldn't bother.

The RS6 now has a twin turbo V10 with 570 BHP. And it's still slower than the M5 released 5 years ago. M3 & M5 = still the best sports saloons in the world.

But you have to remember everytime MB (AMG, Brabus) want to beat Bmw (M Division) they've always had to go for a bigger displacement or even Forced Induction. I Love both MB and BMW, but I would rather take the Bmw to track or cruising, and the MB for family, or take the missus out. Hey everyone has their own opinions. MB has always been luxurious, comfort etc.. Bmw has been more performance, and race bred. Just my 2cents..

I think Ford should make a sports saloon - they have the racing pedigree, and they understand what the European petrolhead wants from a car.

They could take the supercharged 5.4 litre V8 from the GT supercar, and put it in the Mondeo. Call it the Mondeo RSX.

In the here and now though, if you want a big, fast sports saloon, I think you should choose betwwen the M5, the XF-R, and the VXR8 Barthurst.

I don't like the S Type - the new XF is much better. The purists will tell you an estate sullies the bloodline, but I disagree - if it still drives as well as the saloon, which both cars in this video clearly do.

The only sports saloon worth breathing in the same breath as the M5 is the Jaguar XF-R. The Caddy CTS-V is nice, but to my mind a sports saloon has to come from a company with a history in motorsport. There has never been a Cadillac F1 car; there has never been a Cadillac Rally car; there has never been a Cadillac Touring car. Cadillac, stick with luxury: it's what you're best at. Leave the sports saloons to Jaguar and BMW.

This is werid, I know Clarkson is a bit of a Mercedes fanboy, so maybe that explains it.

I know for a fact the E63 is only quicker than an M5 up to about 80 miles an hour.

After that, the M5s top end power and much better gearing blow the E63 away, every time.

It literally just happened at Race Legal at Qualcomm Stadium an hour ago, run after run.

You're right - it's rare that an estate version drives as well as the saloon, but BMW and Mercedes have pulled it off, and so did Audi with the RS6.

That's fair enough, to each his own. I owned a 328 and now own an IS300 and i'll take the IS everyday of the week, to be honest o got boredof the 328, but the IS i love everyday. The ISF is a great car, and although overpriced the LFA is a great supercar. I've also driven both the Wagon and sedan version of the IS300 and the handling is better in the wagon, but it doesn't make up for the hideousness of it compared to the in my opinion, strikingly stylish sedan

@HoleToHeaven Fair enough, Lexus do make good cars. Except for that SC430 - that was horrible in almost every way. The LFA is gorgeous and a great car - but it costs twice as much as the equally gorgeous and even faster Ferrari 458. And no one's going to buy a Lexus over a Ferrari. They should've done what Nissan did with the GTR - undercut their rivals in price.

@NobleM15fan agreed, the sc430 is junk, other than the engine, but the rest was junk. Apparently people did buy the LFA over ferrari's cause all 499 are sold already. But it is too much, your paying because its exclusive. And they're actually losing money on that car, the R&D that went into the LFA took 9 years and was completely redesigned twice. so i guess if you want a car basically no one else has (10) in all of canada and about 40 in the states so thats what u pay for i guess

The XJ200 was a flop because it didnt deliver on the promises made. it still ended up being an awesome car but no AWD and no V12 (both promised to preorder customers) never went to the production model. The LFA was delivered as promised, albeit 10 years after the mission was started, and thats why every car built for the first year sold. That and limited production

I disagree. The Audi RS6 costs £10 000 more than these two, and despite having much more power, has the same 0-60 time and the same top speed as the M5 (204 mph). It's also not as practical.

Yes, i would definitely agree that a wagon is a much better choice than a mini van or SUV. Mini vans are absolutely the worst and ugliest vehicles on the road and SUVs are totally pointless as well because most of them can't even go off road.
