  • @jameela4iraq There is a french movie wich name is "venus beauté institut" in which story you can follow the loves and lives of 4 women working together in a beauty salon. I haven't seen Caramel yet but I think It's 1000 times better than the french movie !

  • ''They are love notes!'' Haha!

  • i really loved this film

  • I don't know how much of the city you get to see.

I guess that could be impressive to people loving Beirut. As a symptom bittersweet tears to the images that feed memory - maybe abundantly.

(I consider weemoed to be a precious and positive emotion)

  • I have just seen this movie a couple of hours ago and I have been completely carried away by the rich symbolic elements, the soft and sensitive issues it touches, the colurs, the language... everything. I think it is a very complete and beautiful work of art. It has touched me deeply, and when I walked out of the cinema I was feeling so thankful and lucky that I have seen it.A really valuable, outstanding film. Congratulations :)

i havent seen dis movie yet ...i cant wait 2 c it ...its gonna b ou in da cinemas on da 7th of march here .......

  • This is one of the best movies ever in my opinion. Nadine Labaki is amazing. And the little old lady, Lili in this film, is absolutely hilarious! Loved it!

  • J' étais voir ce film , en sous titré ; certes il était émouvant ...j'ai adoré <3

  • I really liked this movie, it shows the real facts and what women in everywhere around the world lives.

Good job to nadine and the rest of the group!

  • People who are referring to this movie as a "chick flick" obviously haven't seen it, or simply don't understand how revolutionary it is for a director to address so many of these points that are affecting women in Lebanon, and the rest of the Middle East day by day.

I've seen it twice already and I'm in love with it, the only problem that I had were the subtitles, because I speak Arabic and feel that the movie could've been translated a lot better. Good for you Nadine!

  • This movie is now playin' in some Warsaw's cinemas (Poland)

    Great movie.

Best wishes to N. Labaki, Y. Elmasri & Fadia Stella :)

  • I love this film!!!

  • Dying to see thisssssss!

  • great work keep going girls respect....

  • i think u r right

  • thank you, there is someone with brains.

  • No it doesn't give a bad image of the Lebanese. It is a film about women working in a salon. It makes no claims to being a reflection of life in Lebanon.

  • you probably havent seen the movie, just the trailer, the trailer shows the decent parts, the rest is mostly porn, and lesbo like, and it goes everywhere but the life of working women.

nadin was trying to show she is "open minded", troo7 tin2ibir t3eesh ma3on lal open minded, w ma tbahdilna.

lebanon is way decent for trash like nadin to live in, or belong to, yes this movie is not a reflection of lebanon, just hope people don't won't think so.

  • Yes I have seen the movie, it was shown at the London Film Festival. All countries have "trash" (your word not mine). Lesbo like. You mean a woman in the salon falls for a woman who comes to the salon. But of course Lebanon doesn't have lesbians does it? As for the rest being porn don't be ridiculous.

  • @06pheonix I have seen this movie, and was touched by the way Nadine sent the message. This is pure Art, and for that all my respect go to Nadine Labaki, but unfortunately not everyone can understand it. Nadine ma bahdalitna bil 3aks Nadine willi mitl Nadine byerfa3o rasna. I don't know where you live, but I will tell, if you live in Lebanon, you are looking but not seeing the truth in Lebanon.

  • @06pheonix You obviously haven't been to Libnan then, its so open minded there probably more than America. There isn't ANY porn in here do you know what porn is? It involves people getting naked and having sex so please go get a dictionary and there is a Lesbo so what? meen inta lat 7asib? This is just a film of women in a salon and their lives nothing indecent.

  • And what makes you think this is not a representation of Lebanese people? Listen I don't know where in Lebanon you live or what planet you're on, but we're in the 21st century and times have changed. Which means YES women do speak, act and LIVE in this way. That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with them.

  • even we are in the 21st century there are keyam w mabadaie2 lel3arab we have 2 respect them. and the movie just represent the secret life of women, we can say YES women speak, act and live but in a better way in a respectable way, without khadsh lel7aya2. and this will b the right picture for woman. they are successful in many different career. i think if the director wants 2 represent waomen she has many other ways 2 represent us without any khadsh lel7aya2.

  • KHADSH lil 7AYA2!!!! wein 3aysheh 7abibteh inteh? leh shu buh el film? la fiyo porno wala fiyo mashehid sex 3ashou 3am tne2eh? 7abibteh hayda el film reflects our small cosmo in Beirut.. and the director is so clever to reflect the whole society of the city using these smal female details... habibteh this is a way of art!!!! it's pure art... its not DANA... fi fare2....

  • KHADSH lil 7AYA2!!!! wein 3aysheh 7abibteh inteh? leh shu buh el film? la fiyo porno wala fiyo mashehid sex 3ashou 3am tne2eh? 7abibteh hayda el film reflects our small cosmo in Beirut.. and the director is so clever to reflect the whole society of the city using these smal female details... habibteh this is a way of art!!!! it's pure art... its not DANA... fi fare2..

  • who are you to place judgement on women and the way they should or shouldn't live their lives? it's none of your concern how millions of women, lebanese or not, choose to live their lives. there is no one right or proper way to do so.

with only four main characters, nadine was able to accurately and respectfully depict the microcosme which they consist. I applaud her and her work. It is truly worthy of acclaim!

  • and why do you believe they live these things 'secretly', as you've said? it is because of people with mentalities like yours in this society that forces them to feel ashamed of who they truly are. life is not perfect, neat and clean. there doesn't only exist black or white, and the characters in this film show this reality. nadine's work shows the duality and complexity of these women, like that of countless others. their flaws do not negate all of their other positive attributes.

  • so i would appreciate it if you (06pheonix) toned down your strong criticism and judgement of others, because we don't all share your opinion. and although you have the right to yours you have to be aware of and respect the fact that other opinions, beliefs and attitudes will undoubtedly differ from your own. you have to be a little more open-minded, and less discriminative.

  • If you choose not to pursue an open-minded lifestyle nor to have an open-minded mentality, that is your business. But please don't think that all Lebanese people are puritains like yourself, because this is certainly not the case my dear.

The Lebanese people are a very modern AND traditional people, moving forwards yet still in touch with their roots. And I think Nadine has shown that beautifully.

  • I agree with you, Faten87. Without that space for pluriformity Lebanon had not existed, no?

I think that most Arabophone people with a free spirit are gratefull for the culture that Lebanese society allowed them to receive.

  • ahha shu hal mas`7ara .. hada el film ta2leed la american movie called beauty shop !!!!!

nefsii marra shoof shi mo m2alad min el 3arab `7ososaan min el lebnaniee hehehehe

N.B:if u dont understand english let me know ,i'll happily tranlate it in lebanese.

  • Wleh shou jehb Beauty Shop's struggles and stories and culture to Sukkar Banat (Caramel)? I saw Beauty Shop and the only common denominator is the fact that they are both done in a beauty shop. Silly argument!

  • great movie, and i agree about the translations! they are horrible and english poorly represents the jokes and meanings in arabic
