i have a old xbox lying around in my house and i am thinking of making my xbox into a media center for my parents.
my set is modded with xecuter2 modchip but the hard drive is only 10gb. is it possible to upgrade to a 500gb hard drive and make this xbmc work as well?
I pressume so. I have mine softmodded with a 250GB HDD. Be warned that not every HDD works on the Xbox, just a select few. You can find HDD compatibility on the internet, mainly Xbox Scene website.
At least when softmodding, the most important thing is to make a backup of the Xbox, similar to making a backup of your computer. Part of this backup may (or SHOULD contain) a file called eeprom.bin. This file, which differs on each Xbox console, is what I use to install a bigger HDD.
dude get a 750 gb and go all out if your gonna make it a mdia center. Movies take up alot of space. That's the biggest ide drive they make and the xbox motherboard is only ide unless you get a sata converter but i heard there headaches
most xboxs came with a 10 gig hard drive, with 2 gigs dedicated to the dashboard and updates. the green halo xboxs came with 8 gigs with 2 dedicated to dash and updates.
Why post if you don't know what you are talking about? ALL stock xboxes utilize 8gb. Some come with 10gb drives, only becuase 8gb drives weren't common enough. Those extra 2gb cannot be accessed. (Unless you mod the box)
