Are you for serious right now? Sexism is prejudice + power. Sexism is an attitude that oppresses people based on their gender and even gender-identity. While people can discriminate and be prejudice of men simply because they are men, it doesn't mean that those same people are perpetuating oppressive attitudes "that keep men in their place". Men have never in the history of anything been oppressed because they are men. Women have. It's not sexism, nor reverse sexism. It's discrimination.

I had several friends at school who were bolemic/anorexic. Even as they become adults, many women feel that being a natural 140 pounds is overweight -- when their stomach is as flat as paper! It's a shame. But the difference is that EVEN with a female's low self-esteem, there is ALWAYS someone who will come along and call her "beautiful" or "pretty", while a man with the same weight, similar respective build and a higher degree of self-esteem will not be complimented as much, thus creating the vicious cycle.

In school I was constantly told by female teachers that girls were smarter, more organised and more well behaved than men. Yeah, she sounds angry. I think she's angry because she knows this stuff is true. She can feel it deep down - even if she took two minutes to consider what is being put out here she would see that. But people don't like admitting they are wrong. They never have... much less women ;). I've had to admit i'm wrong in other areas of my life before and its no big deal. I've also always felt that men get a rough deal these days. Me and my bloke will bring up strong happy boys (one day!).

Not at all deeper than I would imagine - women have been fed the ideal of 'beauty' for a very long time and you only have to look at how girls today once they reach age 10, 67% are not happy with how they look. I had several friends at school who were bolemic/anorexic. Its the same thing, women are being made to have no self esteem (and to behave like sluts to get guys) and guys are being made to feel pathetic and useless to women.

Even as they become adults, many women feel that being a natural 140 pounds is overweight -- when their stomach is as flat as paper! It's a shame. But the difference is that EVEN with a female's low self-esteem, there is ALWAYS someone who will come along and call her "beautiful" or "pretty", while a man with the same weight, similar respective build and a higher degree of self-esteem will not be complimented as much, thus creating the vicious cycle.

Well, men aren't known for going round complimenting each other. Its normal for owmen to say 'you're looking sexy/pretty/beautiful' and not be thought of as 'gay', and its not thought the same with men which is a shame. 140 pounds is below average weight for women, and if you're tall (like me) If i was that weight, i'd be too thin. then it also depends on muscle mass etc too. its too simplified in the m edia and there are too many girls (and boys now) getting obsessed with externals.

I think that is debateable - the men have broader taste in women than vice versa thing. You only have to look at gold digger types to see they're not fussy about looks, but wallet size. lol. I think men and women are both made to feel rubbish about being themselves and have to constantly attain some kind of washboard stomach/size 8 perfection which is impossible for most of us. I know men don't want women who are size zero - and I know women don't want men with six pack stomachs.

One main reason advertising and media generally devalue/degrade men is that women control a high percentage of point-of-sale household spending.
That's probably not a role that should be assigned to them disproportionately.
The sort of people in New York advertising companies and that do 'media buys' for corporations are often the stereotypical money-grubbing sort, and if they get a chance to slander/attack the men of your families they consider it a bonus.

The absolute most hateful anti-male commercial I've seen was for Trojan condoms, where a single's bar is filled with women and... PIGS! One turns into a handsome man when he buys a condom from the washroom dispenser. That's sexist enough, but most folks thought it was humorous. The insideous "hidden message" however is that only "STRAIGHT" men are "PIGS" -- because they would *NEVER* dare show a scene inside an implied "gay bar" where it was nothing but wall-to-wall pigs! You have way too much text on the screen at times to be able to figure out what's going on. I agree that it has become commonplace in our society for women to be portrayed as intelligent, worldly, cultured, and completely well-rounded, whereas her husband is a dumb fuck, eating-with-his-hands-chimp who's lucky to have found her. I would also like to throw out here (though the main message was sent to you,) that it's bullshit that there's no negative depictions of females on tv. Look at those new Tide commercials, which if I stretched it like you did in this video, essentially state that all woman should be barefoot in the kitchen cleaning the house constantly. Woman are always the ones portrayed as cleaning the house, taking care of the kids, being a model wife, furthering the stereotype that woman are homemakers.
