@PeluMaad - well I am as a big a fan of Taj as anybody but this video is pretty obviously NOT a live performance of Corrina and as it's the original version of the song from the album, then Taj is lip-syncing/miming it, whatever you say!
There is no way anyone in their right mind could seriously not like this. If you have given this video a thumbs down, what are you doing with your life? You need to find something better to do than hang out on the internet and dislike great works of art just to try and piss others off. AND DATS REAL!
Taj Mahal - This giant of a man brings music into the world and, if you listen to more of his stuff, at the same time brings the world into his music. Great respect and thanks for sharing!
This is one of those old songs from the shared tradition that existed before record companies segregated American music. You can find Appalachian fiddle and banjo versions and Mississippi string band versions. If someone "wrote" it their name was lost long ago.
@PeluMaad yes there are older songs about a girl named Corinna, and yes Taj Mahal didn't invent the 12-bar blues, but lyrics sung here WERE written by Taj Mahal and the strum pattern and tempo of the song were conceived by Taj & Jesse Davis. My main point was that Taj Mahal DOES NOT lip-sync. Blues has a long & storied history and many well-known songs have passed through many hands, but that doesn't mean taking a few words from an old hymn negates someone's creativity and effort to make it new
johnny85er, you are ignorant. Taj mahal didn't lip-sync this song, he freakin wrote it! although there are other versions of this song, Taj and his friend Jesse Davis composed this version, which is my favorite. Please do not insult a legendary musician by insinuating that he would lip-sync to his own song.

wow...this is cool, a video for one of my top ten favorite songs of all time....saw taj mahal in concert last year--unbelievable stage presence and charisma...he's the real deal!!!
yea it,s played in the key of A using......... A D E to get that "bell ringing sound " form the chord pull off twice then use the ring finger two frets up pull off twice then back and pull once .......this is exactly like the blues shuffle.... sooo one guitar plays the chords straight other guitar plays the "bell sound" shuffle
I was great to see this, thanks for posting it. Its interesting that this is a different mix of the song than is on the "Natural Blues" album, its sounds like it is the same recording session but the rhythm guitar is much more prominent in this mix.
How great to see this! And his wonderful band particularly Jesse Ed Davis. Only this afternoon driving home listening to Taj play harmonica on Eric Clapton and JJ Cale's album Road to Escondido...
I saw Taj along with Corey Harris a few nights ago...damn, what a great show. 40 years later and the man still has it. Catch his show if you get the chance...you'll be freakin' happy you did!
i'm 22 and own pretty much everything taj has ever done. i can't believe i've never found this vid on here before. johnny85er, we have the same taste in music my friend. f'n john hartford??? are you kiddin me?
Merci.

Early to mid 1930's National you can tell the era by the slotted headstock. It's a Triolian.

This video was probably shot by Paul Lohman. All of the band videos from this show (with John Byner) were his. Paul has since passed.
