@themoblitz It's true, someone asked me, then I realized...it's a tie between Blackwater Park, Morningrise, Watershed, and My Arms Your Hearse with all the other ones not far behind...how do you pick a favorite with so much epicness?
@themoblitz My favourite might be Still Life, but then again Blackwater Park is fucking amazing, and Ghost Reveries is mind-blowing too, especially the first 5 or 6 tracks, I felt kind of let down by the end of that album though. The Grand Conjuration and Isolation Years are just lame in comparison to Ghost of Perdition, Harlequin Forest, Beneath the Mire, and Baying of the Hounds.
I am a 15 years old boy and I'm learning guitar, and musical theory. I like Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Progressive Rock, and Progressive Metal/Death... my brother is learning drums, could you guys check my channel and watch my videos of original songs that we made, we are working in this, and we will re-record the song but this time with more instruments, can you check???
my god... I wish they would play just ONE song like this with the death scream in it, these days. Last song every show k mike? I love all Opeth's music but there's something about this kind of harshness that is just awesome.
On topic: This is one of the best songs ever written... So freaking beautiful. Infact Morningrise as a whole is probably the best album mankind will ever witness! Mikael is a genious.
@ThePugnaciousAnt I don't know about that. Still Life as a whole album is beautiful too. That shit could be a movie bro. All their albums are awesome!
@blackblurable Thats true, but Morningrise is still my favorite! But I have to agree with your first statement, Still life is absolutely amazing, and is definitely close to Morningrise.
Mike has commented this; the case in the Albert Hall was problems with the earplugs or something so he couldn´t hear himself that simply got him tuned in at wrong voice level.
when i started to view this video ,, i realized something's wrong !!! i paused it .... and ran like a fucking NINJA to my closet.... " i forgot to wear my Opeth T-shirt " \m/
@Brasker as much beautiful as 4:25-4:40 might be,it doesn't hold a candle to 7:31-10:08,in my opinion.but hey, this song all around is just perfect,so...
Everytime I listen to the songs I love by this band, over, over, over, over, over, over and over, more and more confirmation comes on why this is the first band I have ever said and has remained to be my favorite band. The riffs still give me chills no matter how many times I hear them.
First time I heard this song was like 10 years ago. I was driving through a blizzard in my North Dakota hometown and the music was perfect for the moment. It definately made me tear up up a bit. One of my favorite Opeth songs simply because of that unforgettable first listen. Keep making great music Opeth.
My favorite lyrics in any song, ever. It makes me think of the passing of a loved one, and all the things we can never finish saying to those who have passed on. Amazing.
hey people.... i'm new to the opeth fan club..... and its fucking awesome.... :D.... the songs i've listened to are bleak, when and this song.... can anyone tell me some more songs....
@chidhumetal1993 first rule of the fan club. dont call it a fan club, it sound so gay XD. my favorite song is black rose immortal. best heavy songs are deliverance, blackwater park, the grand conjuration, porcelain heart.
best soft songs are burden, harvest, to bid you farewell, in my time of need.
i recommend that u look for album versions, since the video versions are shorter, and some of the magic is cut
No, sadly...Lopez had left by that point. "Lamentations" is the only DVD with him on it and still the best IMO, even if the setlists for this and the new one were amazing.
To be in this band, it requires: really long hair, incredible and diverse musical cababilities, and a laid-back attitude on stage with more emphasis on playing your intsrument properly.
He's more funny than retarded. Cut him a break. Lots of guys do "retarded" shit at metal concerts, and it makes the shows all the better! A lot of people say moshing is retarded.
@flixization could just be a wizard who looks like vlad, if you look carefully at the very beginning of the video you can make out a wizard hat, so it's probably a wizard
@123121s1 Haha ok man you see a wizard, I see vlad the impaler. I've watched this DVD many times and seen the shirt elsewhere. I'm not gonna argue it, enjoy the greatest music. :)
I have been on this planet for 50 odd years and one of my former students used to listen to these guys, I never really got around to checking them out till now.
@FeralasHELL and they're only gonna get better with the new album Heritage! I absolutely love all of their stuff heavy or soft and I'll be seeing them in London on their UK tour in November gonna be fuckin awesome! cant wait
The last three minutes of this song own a grasp on me that I haven't been able to shake since the first time I listened to this, which was at least a year ago. One of the most passionate things I've heard amongst any musical genre.
@Brutal90Death well Mikael wrote it about his grandfather who passed away. I think that both the lyrics and music make this one of Opeth's most emotional pieces. And also one of their best.
this is soo damned epic. so emotional and sooo brutal.
