  • I hope that was just for the sole purpose of showing people who don't know, how it works and not how u actually shift..

  • @MrSigma211

I hope this is the last time I have to explain to everyone.

It was to show that the rev limiter wasn't bouncing off the redline, but at the set limiter for flat foot shifting feature. No, this isn't how it's meant to be driven.

  • @skier4998 To bad you don't understand what flat foot shifting is.

  • ASS!

  • No disrespect, but FFS takes all the fun out of driving a manual. I have an STi with a cobb stage 2 tune and I woundn't even think of setting that. I mean, do we not know how to shift or what? Clutch in-gas out, shift, clutch out-gas in, it's not that hard is it? And I hate the paddel shifters and anything to help make it more like an automatic-manual. That's another one of the many things I love about the STi, it ONLY comes in a 6 speed(should be all sports cars)meaning- no rookies aloud!

  • @Srirachaa Heh, that's kind of funny actually. My 2005 STi was my first manual. I learned how to drive on it. You'd think that, since there are no rookies allowed, that my STi would now be trashed. Nope - still going strong at 75,000 miles on the original clutch. Paddle shifters and SMG's have come a looong way as well, and are included in many many high-end sports cars. I wouldn't hate on them all, and it definitely doesn't discredit the car as being a true sports car.

  • @darksb3r Good for you. That doesn't change my opinion what so ever. When I said "no rookies" I'm talkin about competition not reliability. A car with a clutch is harder to drive than paddles or something without a clutch. Would't you agree? My point is, any chump could drive a car with paddles and be quite fast with shifting, But that same chump won't be, in a standard manual. Wouldn't you agree. That was my point. So what are you explaining to me? That you can drive a stick? Good job.

  • @Srirachaa I agree 100% with you. "true sports car" should have a proper manual gear boxes. Flappy panel gear boxes should be reserve for competition races. I thought the point of a sports/performance car was to enjoy the drive (by manual shifting).

I think darksb3r doesnt get what ur saying or is just going off topic... but i know what ur saying here.

  • @hsc87 Thanks. That's is good to hear. How you understood me, is exactly how I meant it. Because someone that is driving a "true sports car" should know at least how to drive a manual. It engages the driver much more and increases awareness. Which is important when your doing a buck an change down the e-way/track/ where ever. It makes it harder for any idiot to get their hands on too much power and do mach 3 just by stepping on the gas and flippin paddles.

  • @hsc87 To put it simply, it's a handicap(if you will).

  • @Srirachaa actaully there is an auto with padle shifters that has been out for a while now called the a spec... only JDM though

  • @EthansOpinion92 For an STi? That makes me sad.

  • @Srirachaa yeah, it also only has 275 hp like old jdm cars

  • that is not what i expected

I WANTED SOME NASTY CHURPIE LOL

  • can u flat shift in any car wthout having to buy a device or alter the e.c.u settings

  • don't feel sorry, it's still a subaru. I love my car it gives me a eurolite look. never buy the first demo car model. always wait for the next model so by that time, the manufacturers should have most of the buggs fix.

not only does the 2008 have soft cluthches but it has the smallest radiator compared to the previous WRX's.

  • that is so cool dude. make shifting much easier.

  • I own an 08 wrx, it has the softest clutch by far. sux!

  • @TheGraveShifter

I feel sorry for all the 08 owners. They just keep getting slapped in the face. First with the 09 power upgrade, and how with the widebody kit on the WRX.

  • just get a dog box. problem solved.

  • Try to Powershift and see how bad it can be. If he misses a gear he's not bouncing off the rev limiter.

  • so sad that is very bad for are cars....

  • no it isnt it just pwns the clutch...you will be needing a new one very quickly

  • wait so wat exactly is flat foot shifting?

  • flat foot shifting is a mod he did with a lil tuner on his car, it holds a certin rev that you can set when you shift you can keep boost up

  • So flat foot shifting is with launch control and when you shift you don't let off the gas?

  • OMG PEOPLE!!!! He's just trying to show what flat foot shifting MOD does. When you do it fast you can't really see. He wants to show people how it holds rev's at a certain set point. He's not trying to race or anything. I just uploaded a video of flat foot shifting in my 05 STi.

  • wtf is this shit learn how to drive... flat shifting is to reduce time between changing gears not sit it on limiter like a knob...

  • hes trying to show what it is shitfuck

  • I'm sorry, but that is not a good example flat foot shifting.

    Stick to automatics...

  • yes very bad DONT DO IT....... NO.... BAD DOG

  • no because when you use flat foot shifting you down have to depress the gas pedal anymore and you actually get a smoother transition

  • Comment removed

  • shifting without letting off the gas is full throttle shifting not power shifting

  • hahahahaha you have no idea what you're doing

  • is this also called powershifting?

  • no power shifting is when u shift down in low rpms and you itll give u a "boost"

  • no power shifting is when u don't let off the gas when u shift up

  • ooo really..so is that power shifting???

  • No. This video is not what powershifting is. Its called FFS (Flat Foot Shifting). Its a built in program into the ECU that gives the car, more or less a rev limiter when you have the gas and clutch to the floor while driving. This keeps the car from loosing boost so there is no re-spool when shifting into the next gear.

  • so is the ECU restricting the engine from redlining?

  • The program restricts the motor from going all the way to redline while you have the gas and clutch down at the same time so you dont blow your motor.

  • lol no, powershifting and no lift shifting are the same thing, wen u dont let off the gas and use the clutch, speed shifting is when u let off the gas and use the clutch, and letting off the gas and not using the clutch, idk wat thats called, but the only time ive heard of anyone doing that is in nascar on circle tracks, during a restart after a caution.

  • no dumbass. powershifting is staying on the throttle the whole time.

  • what the fuck are you talking about engages the clutch itself?!? are you fuckin stupid or something? powershifting is when you keep your foot on the accelerator and just shift really fast using the clutch..and theres no right rpm's so that your clutch engages by itself go read a book on cars

  • no you let the throttle rev macth your next gear to line up to without the clutch engaged

  • i'm guessing you ride a bicycle?

  • Comment removed

  • i have something like that in my dsm...its extremely helpful especially when you combine it with a decent antilag program

  • Learn how to shift and don't use any device ! Cars before had no electronic control you had to know how to drive those thing ! keep practice, break some parts and then you'll be good ! :P

  • why would you want FFS set at 2400rpm? I see no boost there.

  • 2400rpm Delta

So let's say your rev limit 7000, you set your delta at 2400

    7000 - 2400 = 4600

So your FFS will be at 4600rpm

  • @Nuke209 wait what??

  • i dont think that system of shifting is helpful, whether it holds the rpms up like its showing, you are still losing about 2 1/2 sec between each shift....

  • ofc he can shit faster but hes just showing what happens when u keep the gas an the clutch down

  • if you think it is not helpful look in my vids the rsx doing 150mph or the tc on the dyno going for top speed..

  • he obviously trying to show what it does. i doubt he will be shifting like that while racing

  • I'm user of FFS and I think that your is too hight!!!

I've set mine to 2400rpm delta and it's perfect, clutch is ok, and gears too.

    but good process

  • it shows an example of how it works with the process delayed. he goes WOT, then clutches in and holds it in to show how the software holds the revs there, then clutches out again all while still WOT, then does another shift and the rpms hold there at that spot before letting out the clutch again. Stock Rev limiter is at 7000rpms mind you.....

  • and is ff shifting and WOT box like the same thing or different?

  • so its suttin u gotta purchase and set not suttin that u can just do on any car.

  • It allows the driver to shift, without releasing the gas pedal.

So all the driver has to do is, keep the gas pedal all the way down, clutch in, shift, clutch out.

  • wouldnt the engine still be revving up in between shifts? how does the engine know to stop revving up and to wait for the next gear?

or is it all part of an ecu upgrade?

  • you can purchase the patch from tinywrex's site to patch your ecu rom to enable the Flat Foot Shifting & Launch Control on 32bit ecu.

  • plz educate me

  • FF shifting is available so you can keep your foot on the gas in between shifts which in turn at the same time keeps the boost up AND you aren't REDLINE YOUR CAR...you can set the rpms to where you want them to be in between shifts. I have it on my STi and love it...it actually makes shifting smoother if you do it right and have the rpms set up for a perfect match.

  • wat does flat foot shifting do for u, i still dnt completely get the purpose

  • lexelllll and saygmo are right

This was the final test for tinywrex's patch and posted a video to show him.

    Got it?

  • dumbass

  • that was stupid and it wasent even quick shifting so whats the point show how you can mess up a sti transmission

  • once the clutch is engaged the ecu kicks in and doesnt let it over rev.

  • It was an EXAMPLE....

  • He is NOT hitting the standard subaru STI rev limiter.

You should have explained in the video description what you were demonstrating so normal people get it. FFS is flat foot shifting, which is a feature of the COBB tuning access port. It sets an additional rev limit on the car, pulling fuel instead of timing, allowing you to not close the throttle and lose boost pressure while shifting.

  • I forgive your ignorance of the past comments. He is trying to let poeple "see" what the function of flat foot shifting is.

  • man we will know if you were FFS or not. you don't need to do that. And BTW are you just trying to prove something or are you gonna realy FFS. i sugest you post a responce video showing the real thing.

  • I just want everybody to know, we let it bounce on the rev limiter to show you guys that it has FFS on it.

  • And FFS is what?

  • Because......it is a map on the infamous cobb accessport and flat foot shifting your car without that maybe is horrible for the car.....

  • for fuck sake :P

  • wtf. you take days to shift unless you were like...displaying your rev-limiter for us lol.

  • Dude, you shift like a grandma.

  • thats reallllyyy cool.
