I repaired thousands of C 64 and C 128's back in the mid 80's. Those were very decent systems for the price and where we were with technology. Many people got their start with computer software learning Commodore basic..
The PLA IC was the most common problem and most were soldered in. It is easy to tear up the board and ruin the unit if you DON't know how to desolder the old PLA. I always installed a socket after removing the old piece.
@OBSysteme could be a fault with the datasett or floppy drive ? are you geting any error messages ? the main chips or the cpu pla ram and sid ?? it might be a ram problem let us know if you find ou
