This is not traditional and it is definitely NOT Goju Ryu. The color of the Gi has nothing to do with tradition either. Hokama Sensei wears a black gi and he is an Okinawan Bushi - as traditional as they come.

This is a highly untraditional dojo and untraditional workout. Traditional Gojuo Ryu practitioners do NOT wear black Gis. Peter Urban instituted black gis into his form of corrupted GoJu as a rebellion (and ultimately sign of disrespect) against his master.

Although wearing a black gi is not incorrect, the white gi is tradtional and was worn by the fathers/founders of karate.
Various clubs/dojos also have their own systems in regards to traning syllabus and uniform.
@KrumpIsMyEscape888 No argument there I know for a fact that white gi's are in fact traditional. However, for the system that I train under, World Goju/Urban goju, there have always been black gi's. I will eventually enjoy the privilege of wearing two toned (white and black) if and when I promote/earn my black belt.

You want Traditional Goju ryu? Go train with Morio Higaonna Shihan. Look him up on Wikipedia or watch the Karate episode of Human Weapon or BBC's Way of the Warrior (Karate episode). My sensei's John Whitby (5th dan) Steve Riley (4th dan) and Ross Harrison (4th) have trained with him many times.

Poor balance, training in sneakers, loose fists, poor chambers. It's a damn shame. This is why karate has earned a bad rep and other styles have come to the forefront. I'd be more than happy to spar their instructor
