  • I love your shirt. I've wanted it for a while.

  • Dance to the music Seth....hey can you deconstruct Glee?

  • the tony roberts part made me laugh OUT LOUD.

  • I LOVE your videos but they're hard to watch because the audio levels are all over the place. The songs that you play are so much louder than your commentary.

  • This is also my favorite song from Xanadu. I could listen to it all day long. It's the song I use for my blogs! Love it!! Thanks for the great deconstruction! :)

  • I have been listening to Xanadu since I was nine (in 1980) and have been singing the lyric "...Monte Carlo, Shortbread Lamb" without ever thinking it was weird. Until now.

  • Seth, I don't think it's that "old people" don't riff--it's just this particular old person.

  • Only the second post to answer your lyrical question, it is "Shard End and"

Jeff Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra fame grew up in a council house at 368 Shard End Crescent in Shard End. The lyrics to the ELO song 'All Over the World' mention Shard End along with cities like London, Paris, Amsterdam, Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo. Roger Taylor (drummer of Duran Duran) also lived on Shard End Crescent until the age of 11.

  • I did not know Annie Golden was in the show on Broadway?? I saw her on tour as Calliope, she was great, but still Im not sure she was in the OBC???

  • A good lesson in singing in the mask--thank you!

  • Hey Seth, What are the three instruments in the orchestra? Piano, Synth and Drum/percussion??? It sounds so full for such little instrumentation. let me know :-)

  • I'm still sad that Cheyenne Jackson was doing Damn Yankees at City Center the weekend I saw Xanadu. I missed out!

  • @Seth: LOVE Annie Golden... saw her go on for Mary Testa once, and several times as Calliope on tour, but I never noticed that was her singing that backup line.

@rentandwicked it's "All Over The World" from "Xanadu."

  • Oh Seth, you've done it again. You've made me look at a song that I'm already familiar with in a different light.

  • this song sounds amazing , what's the name of it? Its so uplifting and thanks Seth for the deconstructions1

  • BREAKING: Seth just said "Listen to the cool drum part"! That means, you thought the drum part had some musical value to it -- percussion DOES equal music!

  • "I'm the Phantom, sing for me."

  • I HEAR PATTI MURIN!!

  • I LOVE watching you deconstruct things. You notice things that I'd never, ever notice.

  • Love me some Golden Girls.

  • Your confusion about the city reminds me of being in Little Shop of Horrors in high school and someone asking where the hell Peoria is ("eat Cleveland, and Des Moines, and Peoria, and New York..."). Cue awkward silence.

  • Kool.

  • i looked it up :)

London, Hamburg, Paris, Rome, Rio, Hong Kong, Tokyo

L.A., New York, Amsterdam, Monte Carlo, Shard End and All over the world

  • love it!
