  • The one problem I had with this UI mod was, at higher resolutions (1600x900)

the text looked extremely small, and I had to strain just to see the items, I hope the creator adds an option to increase text size, thanks.

  • Great work :D I think I'll play skyrim now

  • Oh thank you, you guys are awesome! :D

  • This is how it should have been in the first place... Those lazy basterds at bethesda didnt change anything from the console menu.

First time i opened the menu, I thought there must be an easier/faster way to do things. And now there is, many thanx from me!

  • Who like me have all the time WARNING at right when im clicking items???? :<

  • @WILCZEKHARDCOR Then I'd recommend you actually READ what it says. You'd find that you need SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender).

  • God bless modders.

  • Anyone know how I put items in mannequins it doesnt let me with UI

  • how the heck do i change the icons?!!!! i did it once cant seem to find where i learned how!!!!

  • @gibblets17 Uninstall the mod. When you start to install it again, the window should let you go into Options and choose the icon set.

  • A feature I'd like to see is a seperation of miscellaneous items and trash/cash items. Or maybe Different sections under each tab, like the weapons tab having a Onehand, two hand, ranged and ammo section. Keep it one list, just have dividers between each weapon type.

  • @quixxnaaar I completely agree!!

  • This has been uploaded to the Workshop. I was wondering if I could still use the different icon sets there that I could when I was in the Nexus. I loved the celtic set

  • awsome mod

  • you are a master

  • In the future the enchanting\alchemy ui needs to be completely changed, currently using it is a pain, having to scroll the menu with the mouse wheel to find the right ingredients is ridiculous. I don't think I will ever buy the Skyrim just because Bethesda decided to release the game on PC with the shitty ui created for consoles.

  • Does this make the dialog menu longer/bigger? I tried searching for it but nothing came up.

  • @zgcentrs No, it does not.

  • please extend this mod so that it works with conversations, skill-menu and above all MAGIC-MENU! you guys rock, todd howard is an ass.

  • I really don't get it? This is what an inventory UI of an RPG should look like on any system. I don't see why Bethesda couldn't work this on the PC at least. Instead they made it gamepad friendly which has the biggest downside. You can't see the stats of all items at once. You had to scroll down on all items one by one to see each stat. Many thanks to the mod creator.

  • My God, call me a shithead, I thought this was from a Halo soundtrack.

  • I tried this mod and it was nice.

However the real problem with the UI in Skyrim isn't what's presented in this mod.

The real problem (IMHO) is that you can't sort container contents by category.

In say a chest I would like to have categories for weapons, armor and etc.

I can live with the vanilla UI until this mod adds the container category.

Part from that, keep up the good work!

  • @Plastrader We have a categorized container menu in version 2.0.

  • @IndieArmy

Ok, I didn't see it using the mod from that skyrim nexus mod page which leads to this movie.

I installed the mod again, but now the skse complains I use a newer version than skse supports.

Which makes sense as I downloaded the 1.4.20 beta patch.

However, the skse page claims that the version downloadable from there should be compatible with 1.4.20.

    This makes me confused. :/

  • @Plastrader ye this is the biggest problem for me too,

its sad the developers sold out like crysis did with crysis 2. They should have stayed more loyal to us Pc gamers and not port it like they have.....pathetic really.

  • Perfect.

  • Yay! the sorting that PC versions should had got instead of that slacky console menu

  • I'd love a junk section in my menu that I could move stuff to for selling, would speed up the process. I saw it in the "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning" demo and thought it would be great feature for Skyrim

  • @DaveSimonH The junk system isn't really too great. It takes too long to destroy items.

  • @DaveSimonH

    Nice idea!

  • Hopefully mods like this will push Bethesda towards adding tweaks to their UI (so 360 & PS3 users can benefit too), sorting by weight, strength etc. would be a good start.

If I had a PC that could run Skrim, that would have been my choice but I'll have to make do with my 360 version, for now.

  • i think i'll give it a try because it happens so often that i click on sth in the menu and then it clicks on the thing next to it or just closes the menu -.-

  • oh my god i need this

  • This is Awesome

  • I have installed SKSE, but SkyUI can't detect it. I don't know if that makes much of a difference.

It'd be good to be able to get back to the cross menu from the list menu.

  • Anyone know how i can uninstall a UI mod i got one and i hate it

  • @asdfg62436 should be able to with you mod manager. if not just manually delete the files.

  • I find that i can't use the R key to store stuff in chests or give them to followers... is this a known bug or a new problem? Also i haven't installed SKSE, could that be the problem?

  • Now I would ask you for help, coz when I installed it I couldnt use "store" and I used the 3rd option of installing it. Kinda hard with smithing etc.

  • It's amazing that Bethesda still can't make a proper menu for pc gamers. Bunch of fucking idiots the lot of them.

  • @vBDKv IMO the default UI is the best for me since I don't like using the mouse to navigate a menu, using the wasd keys is much faster.

  • Yay now I can continue destroying what's left of my social life without being annoyed by the crappy UI!

  • I know I'm 2 games late, but I wish there was something like this for Morrowind. All I can find are ones to make the UI darker.

  • good shit, gonna endorse

  • How much did your company get payed to port this game to PC?

  • This needs to be featured on the bethesda websi...

THIS NEEDS TO BE FEATURED ON THE @$&$(*) BOX,

    also steam page.

  • wait does this alter the favorite menu? and if it doesnt, is it compatible with a mod that does change it?

  • somebody_has_to_start_the_slow_clap.jpg

  • Finally, a good interface, not some shit that Bethesda made for Skyrim, even Morrowind's UI was better...

  • I think mods ruin games... its more like cheating

  • @z0mBiExHD

    How is this mod cheating?

  • @DowneyEIRE Some mods gives you special spells like Midas Spells mod, others make you fly, that help newbies to finish the game faster.

  • Holy shit

    True masterpiece.

  • Truly epic !

  • 1 envious console player is stuck with the clumsy default UI.

  • I have soo many items that the game stutters when I load up the menu! LOL.

  • Lol, there is a single dislike. Forever alone :)))

  • gotta love the "advanced sorting options". wasn't the sorting like that in vanilla oblivion?! (and obviously, it should be like that in any game out of the box anyway)

  • Can I use a controller while using this mod?

  • @1Celebrindor quit your trollin'

  • @Willforbes296532 How is this trolling?!?

I use an xbox 360 controller while playing skyrim on the PC.

I am not trolling, I'm asking a legit question because although I play on the PC, I prefer to use an xbox 360 controller.

  • @Willforbes296532 I'm not trolling

Yes I play on the PC so I CAN use mods.

Yes I use an xbox 360 controller. I think it works better for certain tasks.

  • v 2.0 is way better

  • I love where it's heading, however it does still need a "Store All (Not Equipped or lockable items)", Quest Items Tab, and sorting tabs for containers just like your personal inventory.

  • YES! finally I can finish the game, I stopped playing beucause of the ui. Thank you SO MUCH!

  • wow, it's how the game should have been made.

  • Thank you so much for making this mod. This was one of the bigger issues I had with Skyrim. I could not stand the console-centric and largely inefficient UI. This makes navigating the inventory so much easier. What were they thinking when they decided to dedicate almost half the screen to a 3D view of the item you've highlighted? Bad design choices.

  • Versions 2.0 is out.

Magic, Barter and Container menus added.

If you play Skyrim on PC and don't install this you are a muppet.

  • Is there a section that only show items I just picked up?

like sorting item by whatever is newest

  • Why the hell bethesda do not have done that before ??? It's simply LOGIC....

  • SOLD! :D

  • Can this mod be used with "Better Sorting" mod? I just saw one of the comments that said it can be used with "QD Inventory" mod, so...

  • @TimelessOne123 Yes, it works with Better Sorting.

  • @IndieArmy Is this ever gonna get to a point where we dont need skse and can just download it off Steam workshop and jsut run it?

  • @TheClop12 Not likely as separate scripting is needed thats not available in the ck. The most complex and better mods will need skse always.

  • @TheClop12 SKSE is SO easy to install, it takes about 15 seconds. And it's quite necessary.

  • "Fast key word filtering."

Why watch the rest of the fucking video!?

  • Comment removed

  • Oh how I have waited for someone to make a much better PC friendly UI, many thanks good sir

  • how can you change the font ?

  • one guy is a jelly console player.

  • This might be a silly question but was there ever functionality to equip items using left mouse click instead of right mouse click? I've used skyui since its launch and i dont know why i could of sworn there was a time when i could use left click to equip.

  • This is the mod I've been waiting for since the day Skyrim was released. Thank you! You're awesome, sir.

  • does everyone have the mouse lag?

  • This is why PC games > Console games

  • I think this is the first youtube video i've seen with no dislikes...

  • you had me @ 1:25...

  • Overdramatic trailer is overdramatic. But really, -really- great mod. The default interface's been a pain in the ass especially with potions. Keyword filtering is saving me time and the other menus look great to, good job dude.

  • some fucking amazing work you do there!

  • Fuck bethesda's shitty UI

  • Sad thing that modders always end up having to do that which should be Bethesda's own damn work. Anyway, very nice job IndieArmy.

  • @SandroAerogen It's better to release Skyrim early than having to wait a year longer to do stuff that modders can do xD

  • @RedSpycrab Do you not see why that is an appalling mentality?

  • @SandroAerogen Don't hate on Bethesda the only reason skyrim is a bit dumbed down is because so it would work on consoles

  • @SandroAerogen well see the thing is that bethesda likes to make the games that they want to play, but they let others change the game any which way they want. most game companies do not give you the tools to do such changes. :D

  • @SandroAerogen I would rather have a company that makes a lot of mistakes and lets us fix them, than have a company that makes fewer mistakes but doesn't let us fix them. Don't complain about Bethesda's flaws, because the alternative is actually much worse.

  • Why, oh gaming gods, why did I not find this sooner!? Thank you so much, this mod is exactly what I've been looking for ever since I experienced that poor UI Bethesda cursed the PC version with.

  • got almost half way through the vid before I had to say "fk it, MUST HAVE!"

  • Idea for the shopping menu:

Instead of having to click on a persons name, wouldn't it be better to just have the player inventory on the left of the screen and the vendor inventory on the right, and you can simply right click on an item in one of the inventories to buy/sell it?

  • "advanced sorting features" - fucking sold

  • Thanks man awesome mod so helpful.

  • DAMN.you r an awesome UI writer, Bethesda should've hired you. i can't stand that shitty sorting anymore...

  • I find that all I wanted to change...really...in skyrim was to have number keys allotted to loadouts. That way I don't have to really use the UI at all, like a real PC game.

  • @cniinc That's exactly what I'm hoping for. Hotkeys for weapons and toggle keys for shouts or powers.

  • @cniinc They did just press the number on your favorites list.

  • Great mod just what i was looking for :)

  • I hope this mod eventually replaces the horrendous Favorites menu in vanilla skyrim. It would be cool to be able to have more than 5 favs without having to scroll

  • @Plausiblesarge

    What Skyrim sorely needs:

    1) new favorites menu that MAKES SENSE

    2) visible hotbar of skills you have assigned already.

    3) new skills/perks menu that MAKES SENSE and is not some vast floaty sky stuff that vastes time and make sit utterly easy to get lost, not to mention disallows you to see the "big picture" of your build.

    4.) New magic menu.

5.) Slightly less confusing misc. quest interface.

Once these happen, game will be playable and decent.

  • @FeuerFremder Agreed. Although the misc quest interface isnt too bad. And the Magic Menu is imminent and should be out soon (I don't actually know this, it just makes sense judging by how completed it looks in the video). Also, haters gonna hate. Regardless of whether or not the game has been dumbed down for consoles, the UI is atrocious, a major step down from oblivion, which in turn was a major step down from morrowind

  • @FeuerFremder its one of the most popular games. pretty sure most people consider it playable and decent.

the problem is you. you lack the faculties to play it. you are less than everyone else, not greater.

  • @scarletrhubarb logical fallacies do not really help. argument of majority is not an argument.

The game's ui has HORRIBLY big flaws that make it unplayable for anyone but those who play console games(and even console gamers are quite pissed off with the ui).

The argument of "because everyone bought it, duh!" does not negate the horribly big flaw of the game :)

  • @FeuerFremder i didn't say anything about people buying it. the game is #1 on steam right now for users playing it.

it's hardly the big game breaking flaw you're making it out to be!

  • Thank you

  • Oh and even though the few comments defending the original UI (It's not that bad FFS, people. Grow a set of balls.. whiny brats) I'm not saying that this mod is a bad one.

It looks good. It looks like an inventory. Different. Way smaller text. Way more different things to click on and less scrolling to do.. but still, it's just an inventory. I bet there's not a single inventory screen that would ruin my gaming experience, as I yet haven't found an interface I can't handle.

    But that's just me.

  • Comment removed

  • YESSSS. Another step for me to go back to playing this game.

Now if only someone fixed the rest of ui(like the annoying skill screen, magic selection and the overall HUD-less interface)

  • @FeuerFremder You stopped playing the game because of the menus? Are you serious?

So... every game has to have an inventory screen that YOU prefer or it's unplayable?

How can this be such a big deal to anyone, I don't know.

When I play games, I'm in a good mood. I'm in no hurry. I'm to be entertained and surely can handle a bit of scrolling. The skill screen has every skill and perk in the same screen. How would having a separate section for every skills skilltree be ANY more convenient? :|

  • @sarkasmi83

Yes, I stopped playing SKyrim because of utterly innefficient annoying and time-consuming menus that are hard to navigate(especially in combat) and inventory that makes it IMPOSSIBLE to find what you need in it.

Skill tree selection is "pretty". Thats all. I would pretty much rpefer normal connected rectangles type of skill tree with more information than "swimming" through the current "prettyness" and vasting time and nerves.

  • @FeuerFremder Like I already said here; people like you would've HATED commodore 64 and nintendo times, as everything took MINUTES to load. Sometimes even over 5 minutes just to load a game.

I haven't yet found a situation where it's IMPOSSIBLE for me to find an item I have. Most likely I've never even had to spend a full minute searching for something.

And such a petty thing as a VIDEOGAME and it's menu can't outrage me, seriously.

But hell, some people have attention disorders - fine.

  • @FeuerFremder I just can't understand why people are so GOD DAMN ANGRY all the time. Even playing games, that are meant to entertain. How can you NOT cope with the menu :D Unless you've DECIDED to hate it because of the whole "It's been dumbed down because of consoles"-cliché that everyone were already shouting waaay before skyrim's release.

But yeah, I understand preference... but such an intense reaction to a MENU that DOES WORK is beyond me. (As I said, I haven't found anything impossible)

  • @FeuerFremder AND to add: You think it'll take alot of seconds from you searching for items when you type keywords to search them, shift through way more tabs and manage way more icons etc. etc. ... I bet, if someone actually timed the difference, we'd be talking about seconds of difference, if even that.

Oh and protip: Learn to make use of your house containers. Categorize them. Carry only what you need. Though the basics of such games, some people still don't do that.

  • Amazing. This shows how Bethesda's work sucks by comparison.

The game is yet another shitty console port.

No problem, fuckwads : I didn't buy it anyway !

  • @quintalido ..and why is it that you think anyone gives a shit if you bought it or not? :)

  • @quintalido Oh and do you really honestly think there wouldn't be a bunch of butthurt people complaining about the UI if THIS was the Vanilla UI?

hahahha. Dream on. No matter if it's a simple think like a god damned menu, people always find something to complain about. They TRY to find something to complain about. My gaming experience has NEVER been ruined due to me not knowing how to use a friggin' inventory menu, yet some people bitch about it in EVERY game.

    Not that unbelievably hard, imo

  • Comment removed

  • This was so needed, really, the vanilla skyrim UI is just worthless. Thank you for making this!

  • @xDraedon Weird ... I haven't had a single problem with the UI as it is. Everything I'm looking for, I find in a matter of seconds.

All this in the video actually makes it look waay more complicated than it is right now. Sure, you have filters, different sections for items etc. but it still looks cluttered.

I mean, sure, Skyrim's UI requires scrolling - but for me that's a totally mundane and overly easy thing to do so... Never saw a problem.

  • @sarkasmi83 I didn't like it at all. It was very easy to click on something you don't mean to, I personally don't like how much I have to scroll to find something, and you have to "scroll over" every item to read what it says, it was obvious things from a console port that PC players usually despise (I include myself there ^^). But, if you prefer the original UI, then of course use it and not this one :)

  • @xDraedon Well yeah, the only thing that bothers me in the vanilla UI is the bartering thing, when, if you click just a littttle bit to the left of the "apparel, food, whatever" list, it closes the bartering menu.

And I often tend to carry such a little amount of things that I haven't had a problem AND I organize my stuff in my house so that all weapons are in one crate, potions in another etc.

  • @xDraedon Oh and some people say it takes "half an hour to find a particular potion" ... heh. I bet those people would've hated playing c64 games, as you had to wait for 2-5 minutes just for the game to start etc. And the actual potion finding most likely takes waay less than a minute. Probably seconds.

What can I say, I guess I'm a patient guy.

Oh and yeah, ofcourse I understand preference.. just kinda bums me out some people are calling the whole game SHIT because of a pet peeve like that.

  • @xDraedon ...and STILL to add; Not that I'm saying YOU're calling the game shit because of this :) Just some people tend to do. I guess the Skyrim haters have got me a bit too much on the defensive :D

Either way, I might try this, eventually.. like when starting a new game one of these days :)

Now I'm already used to, and ok with, the vanilla UI so no need to fix what "ain't broken" imo.

    It does look handy though.

  • Awesome mod. Tell me, how do I change filter if I'm using the Xbox controller to play the game? Bought one specifically for this game, it deserves a PC and the analog controls.

  • @avasol Spacebar on your keyboard will activate the filter. Use backspace to clear it.

  • @avasol why would you download a mod which is meant to make the UI fraindly to M&K, and then use an xbox controller?

  • will it work with the xbox controller??

  • @LioRMD As the video mentioned, there is full 360 controller support.

  • What song is this?

  • @LoLSkyPlus The Gathering Storm from the game's soundtrack.

  • Seems to be really good mod! I've used couple UI mods before this and this beats them like Tyson would beat little kid.

  • Question: how do you delete letters in the search box if you make a mistake? Pressing backspace will just leave the search box altogether.

  • Call me weird but I actually like sorting through the crapton of equipment in my inventory with the default, basic interface.

  • @Switzer2007 You're weird

  • @stryfe420 Why?

  • @Switzer2007

Do you seek out boredom to make your life feel longer?

  • Amazing -- hope the barter and container/loot menu will be available soon (I wish there was a way to use your inventory handling and mix the mod with the 'QD Inventory' mod to have a usable barter/container menu as well).

Anyway -- thanks a lot for your efforts; and happy holidays!

  • @mrmagmrmag Actually, you can. Install QD Inventory and then install SkyUI overwriting any files. You'll then have SkyUI Item Menu and QD for everything else.

  • @IndieArmy I wish it would be that easy ;) Unfortunately the container and barter menu if QD inventory is in the file inventorylists.swf, which is the SAME file the normal inventory is in in case of SkyUI. So overwriting will 'kill' the container/barter menu. ;/

Do you have any idea when the SkyUI version containing container/barter menu will be available (approx.)?

  • @mrmagmrmag QD uses Interface/inventory components/inventorylists.swf (which is the default), SkyUI uses Interface/skyui/inventorylists.swf

  • @IndieArmy Thanks a lot for the information. I just checked the filenames, not the locations (did not know that they don't matter). The mod manager did not complain when activating both and now I have the nice inventory handling of SkyUI and the rest of QD inventory. Hope SkyUI will bring the all-in-one solution soon (QD inventory does not seem to be updated anymore)

  • When will you be releasing the magic menu?

  • You guys did an excellent job so far. :D The magic menu looks great by the way.

  • Gratz guys you did what Bethesda could not, amazing work and looking forward to its progress!

  • Comment removed

  • @jcltr127 I think you meant right side, but we thought about this and it's still up in the air. I think we are favoring it being on the left how it is in the video considering you read left to right.

  • @IndieArmy Haha yeah my bad that's what I meant. Thanks for the reply though! Perhaps alternate versions? I have no idea how tough that would be so that may not be possible. Anyway it looks great!
