  • I WANT THOSE MODELS OF THE DEMONS THEY HAVE....SOOOO GOOOD! Doom for life baby :D

  • I love Id software games but John Carmack is so weird. He talks like the guy in the suit from Half-Life lol. Strange guy, I don't even think he likes music.

  • 1:22

    subject - video editor

action of note - part of proprietary game code leaked via public video

    status - terminated

  • Anyone know the track that plays from 0:39 to 0:54?

  • In retrospect, I'm glad that Trent ducked out of this game. Fun as it was to play, Trent's attitude and music would had lended itself much more to the visceral experience of doom 1 & 2. Doom 2 and Downward spiral FTW.

  • John Carmack is such a nerd... I love that!

  • doom 3 was just fine you dumbasses

  • @leetbarker Personal opinion and taste do factor into it.

  • 5:45 there is him

  • Tragic Reznor's work never made it in...

  • Hehe 6.50 he looks almost hypnotized. Damn Trent's awesome!

  • What kind of equipment is he running? Is it the famous Icon control surface? Forgive my ignorance. I would like to have more details on that, does anyone know what programs he was using? Thanks.

  • Haha, these things crack me up. They just cut to him randomly walking by a demon statue or down a hallway. Anyway, awesomeness.

  • Trent Reznor is not a musician.. He's an ARTIST.

Actually, every musician should be an artist but, well... Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Beyonce... There are so many people fucking MUSIC up... That's sad.

  • He's actually a performing artist and a composer considering the fact that he composes most of his own sounds electronically.

  • I remember playing Doom 1 and Wolf 3-D for hours on end with my cousin back in the day...and he's now in software design lol

  • ... and then the game was shit. So ends another tale.

  • hahahahahah!!!! Good one!

It's true that besides all those "Technological breakthroughs" the game itself didn't compare at all to the intensity of Doom 1 and 2. :)

  • you sir are a retard

  • sorry that i made you butthurt. your ass is all red.

  • Hes not emo, but he was back then all against the corporations man, the corporaitons.

and btw Nine inch Nails is the best band ever

  • @hemmsilius The corporations maaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnn.

  • you sir are a festisio.

  • funny how people hear the name John Carmack and they picture a vin diesel look alike hero in his mid 40's. lol. they kinda miss the whole point that you need to be a super nerd with glasses to have his brain. what did you expect him to look like?

  • Shame trent's sound pack didnt make it to the final game, it's one of the best sounds ive ever heard in a video game, highly recommended for any doom3 player.

  • whatever happened to his work anyway? the bass player in my band is a huge nin fan and he told me he worked on this game, then was removed from the project. wtf?!

  • ,my god...

HE is the GREAT John Carmack?

It looks like I've believed in a false god so far

  • he merely wears the body of a mere mortal to make people lower their guard.

  • All that hype and the game was dismal. Technology for its own sake and no thought given to game design at all. Doom 1 is infinitely superior in every department, even graphically. Technically not as advanced, obviously, but filled with real atmosphere, not the fake, lights off rubbish in Doom 3. Doom1 was rarely set in pitch black and was so much scarier.

Didn't realise Carmack was such a hyper-nerd either.

  • Yeah real atmosphere, like huge square rooms with colorful skull textures pasted on every square inch of it, and a blue ceiling. I loved Doom, and I loved Doom 2, but I also love Doom 3. Just because your computer can't handle Doom 3 doesn't mean Doom 1 is superior.

  • this vid was lame until 5:46...^O^

  • dayummruyyit niggah !!!

  • talent from id blow off with money income

  • I wonder what actually happened to the Doom 3 score material from Trent.

Soooo curious what it would have sounded like, it would really be nice if it leaked or something.

  • Really, I place a comment here so if somebody knows about it, I'll know

  • You can hear some in this video:

    /watch?v=SxNYazEQsuA

I don't think there's anything else out there other than in that trailer.

    It kicks in at 1:24.

Much better than that ambient crap they decided to replace it with if you ask me.

  • look up (or down^^ f'in youtube) i answered to punisherpayne

  • it did, if you have doom you can actually download the trent reznor soundpack or something along those lines and get all the sounds he had finished by the time it was leaked. from what ive read in comment sections the game is way better with his sounds, especially the monsters are creepier

  • I must have looped the highres version of this video a few hundrend times, overhyped and excited when it came out, in 2001, i think.

Unfortunately, gameplay-wise compared to the previous doom games, it is basic.

  • did Trent and Carmack go to college together?

  • I really liked the original doom 3 logo it looks more dominate and stronger than the other logo. I also wished Trent could have created the music in the final version. Chris Vrenna did a okay job I guess. To me his ambient music sounded too predictable and I hated the rock music at the start of the game.

  • What's name of the song that starts at 0:39?

  • Doom 3 is probalby the best shooter I've played. Incredibly immersive. Best audio too. Too bad Trent's work was cut out.

  • 6:22 he looks godly

  • I played Doom one and two like they were crack. I don't think I've devoted as much time to anything as I did those two games in my early childhood. With that being said, I was disappointed with 3. It didn't feel like doom at all to me, they changed too much. The entire feel and personality of the game changed.

  • That was the entire point. It was a reimagining of doom.

  • all they really did was, change the graphics from the crap-tastic 2.5 Dimension to full 3d, added shadows a few new weapons and Demons. hmm

  • demons were already in doom1.

  • what? they added more types of demons

  • Heh this is really old obviosuly since there's content from the old screenshots. I wish they still had that one imp monster from the classic Doom poster. Those glowing yellow eyes look kinda creepy. I don't get why they took it out... And the sound effects Trent Reznor made were pretty cool. I used some of them in my games...

The music in Quake 1 was amazing...

  • Trent Reznor should seriously make music and sound effects for ID games. It was part of the reason Quake was so great, so just let him do what he wants to do damn it.

  • rule number 1: work on gameplay and AI first and skip detailes to the end, got it, Id Soft. ?

trent reznor sounds were removed from the final doom 3 version (which never became final actually, because marketing reasons); they came out behind the schedule, with an hurried up created game, just to catch the fps scene attention and money, too late anyway; doom3 was an epic fail not as a commercial product but as a game

  • omg Trent Reznor & doom 3 & John Carmack. =] Best combination!!

  • @1:35 - NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a nerd too so yeah, I'm describing myself. TRENT EPIC ROCKS, WOOOOOO!!!!

  • You have to be pretty zealous to create a game as great and as scary as Doom 3! :D

  • too bad he didn't get to make it.

  • Trent Reznor likes dark scary games me to cool

  • doom 3 and doom3 ressurection were great and "dissing" half life series one of the defining games of our generation is wrong cyberdemons will be coming for u my friend

  • Well, contrary to many on this comments page, I thought Doom 3 was great! Maybe your computers couldn't run it to it's fullest potential.

  • 6:21 - wtf Trent Reznor has a tail

  • Thats a strap of some sorts but it does look like a tail...maybe he's a demon! ;-)

  • LOL

  • Shame he was kicked off the team for Doom 3.

  • he wasn't kicked off, he was forced to abandon the project do to his other interests and lack of money/time.

  • half life 2 was amazing i think what your looking for in game sequels is a clone of the first game. ?? "they took out the good stuff" WHAT DOES THAT MEAN oh i guess it means they got you know a new game engine and a graphics upgrade and a different story. huh

  • Doom 3 really dissapointed me. But I can't really diss them, I grew up playing the first one adn loved it.

Trent reznor did do a good job on the theme, it suited the game.

I mean that it suited the atmosphere of the game...not that it sucked.

    haha

  • he did quake as well yknow :P

  • too bad doom 3 sucked

  • I often wonder if it would have actually been good had Trent stayed on the team.

  • what ever happened to the DOom theme that Trent originally wrote?? I heard it ended up on "With Teeth" anybody know which song it was?

  • What year is this from?

  • Please Trent, come inside my head.

  • 5:45 best part hehe TR rules!!

  • So hold on a sec... I know Tweaker did the "DooM 3 Theme" track, who did the rest? NIN?

  • Hi Kandarian, the score for the doom movie was done by Clint mansell (Pop will eat itself, requiem for a dream, the fountain) but he remixed you know what you are? from Trent as the last song on the soundtrack. As for the game I have no clue who created the ambience for the game. Trent was involved with the sound production but was pulled out at the last minute for reasons unknown.

  • Hmm no NIN track here. upon listening to the one I got again, I think it's the sound score and not some sound track (if there's two). It's full of ambient sounds no more than 1 minute long. The only full length track is the theme.. which let's face it, sounds nothing like a Tweaker tune but apparently is so.

  • Hey, yeah I think you have a different version find through e-bay, amazon, hell even just get a torrent if u download stuff a copy of the doom score (crap movie that is) by Clint Mansell, the very last track is you know what you are (Clint Mansell remix).

  • Ah I just relised, I guess I have the computer-game version... meaning; the main theme most probalby isn't the same as the theme from the Movie score.

  • oh god, look back on those Doom 1 graphics now is hilarious :P Thanks for the upload, I've never been able to find the original score for this game :'(

  • I'm sure if you look hard enough you will find the score well one song at least is very easy to find the main title song. It's by Chris Vrenna AKA tweaker. even try exploring the games disc it may includethe mp3.

  • holy shit thanks for uploading this. ive been looking for this video for at least 6 months

  • koolaid
