  • Mahalo for teaching !

  • Wow, amazing. This is so good.

  • This was so helpful, as was class last night. You're the best ukulele teacher! You make theory easy. Thank you so much. My callouses are building!

  • Darn it I cant count to five yet :(

  • Thank you for your generous sharing and taking the time to do so. You're lessons are easy to follow, and make a frustrating and confusing time MUCH easier. I wish you had a site that had them all on at once or a dvd. Thanks again!

  • Thanks so much for a simple and clear explanation. Its nice when someone can help make music so graspable.

  • can you please tell me what kin of brand is that black ukulele? thank you.

  • It's a Lanikai!

  • hi - I was wondering the brand of your beautiful sounding black ukulele - can you share? it is expensive?

  • Thanks, very useful to a novice like me!

  • if your learning a song like E Kuu Morning Dew that doesnt have much uke in it do you just try and mimic the voice with your ukulele?

  • yes! and since the chord progression is basically the same for both the verse and chorus, might want to try chord substitutions to spice it up

  • Very cool indeed! I really needed this help--no one else has shown me these things. If you have more online courses, classes etc please let me know. I like paying my own way and you've already shown me a lot more than anyone!

  • ???

  • so offensive :-O

  • ur an a-hole

  • i had an instructor try to teach me, and never suceeding btw, what you show here and i understood immediately.

    Thank you!

  • very helpful video..thanks for making it.

  • great instruction - i just got my tenor uke recently and this explanation was helpful. I knew those chords, but the progression analysis shed new light on integrating them

  • What a great help! Thank you!

  • This is really helpful! not just for ukelele players also. Thanks

  • Greetings, Just wanted to say thanks for posting all the video. I really appreciate your time and talent. I watch them daily, they have helped me tremendously. I just got my first Uke at 50, I have played no other instrument ever. I think you should consider making some DVD's, I would be the first in line. You are a great teacher. If your thinking of posting more? Some more detailed strumming (slower example's), melody and rythm help would be appreciated.

Anyway, thanks for all you have done

  • I haven't touched the uke since grade school (about 20 yrs ago) so I forgot all the keys, etc. I've learned and picked it up in a few hours. mahalos for getting me back into playing the uke.

  • thanks a lot* - just gotta find some online spelling lessons now lol

  • thanks a lt. was loads of help

  • Dude You are the man; The Escavare of the Uke Just in case I'm saying it wrong I think Escavare is the QVC guy that sells his guitar and dvds to teach you in five minutes, what it takes everyone else a ka-zillion years to learn. Way to go, great stuff, I can't tell you enough how valuable this lesson was to me, it got me over that hump of knowing how to strum, and change chords, but not understanding when, where, why, or even more importantly what chords go together, great great great...

  • thank you!!!! i really appreciate that! i will try to post more stuff that i hope people find helpful

  • great lesson

  • what size is it?

  • looks like a tenor

  • it is a tenor i have one just like it

  • Thank you master!

  • Hey I'm in Afghanistan working for the man, missing my family back in Florida something crazy....brought my Uke with me and I'm getting frustrated try to learn it.

However, this video was the best by far!! Thank you for posting and please post more, your learning video's really help.

    Aloha and Mahalo, Chris

  • Thanks for the tuning correction,I play guitar.I did service time on Oahu and love the island feel of acoustic. I assumed that the uke was similar to mandolin and violin. But I just made an ASS out of ME no U.;-).I may get my self a uke, george harrison was a big fan of them and would hand them out to friends at gatherings.Thanx Bradda.DanL

  • howva ,You must be in tune to have the chords sound right. If they are not it is what we call disonet.Top string is G next D next A and the bottom is E.invest in a cheap electronic tuner.$10. Another progression is 1,6,4,5 .Like Runaround.nice lesson.

  • yes, thanks Reisinger, for pointing that out. by the way, it's "dissonant" : )

the Runaround song he's referring to is the one by Blues Traveler

a couple corrections though: the tuning i'm using (which is standard) is G-C-E-A. if you were to hang the uke on a wall and look at it with the sound hole facing you, those notes go from left to right, the right string is what's considered the "top" string. this is also standard terminology so it;s good to know to avoid confusion.

    thanks guys!

  • also i'm not quite sure i'm hitting all the strings my uke is very cheap like 30 bucks so i dunno thanks you

  • howva, it could very well be that it's because it's a cheap piece of you-know-what but then again, what can you expect for 30 bucks. ever notice how those ukuleles you buy at the novelty store never stay in tune?

  • how were you strumming this? because i can never get it to sound right and i'm not sure about the strumming because my fingers keep getting snagged on the strings and i'm not sure what to do thanks for your help!

  • That's an awesome lesson. It's gonan help me so much when playing by ear.

  • BY THE WAY EVERYONE...

    ANOTHER IS

    1 1 4 5

which is time of your life by green day :D
