I've heard of that fight but I don't typically agree with Wizard magazine's opinions. They also said the Authority was the best Super hero team in a fight when in recent years Captain Atom defeated most of them by himself. In my opinion they just like to mix things up and be controversial. Though they might have been right if it was the 90's version of Superman who had a reasonable level of power.

This dates back decades ago and since supermans first scenes to the comic books, his power too has changed. They're both super-strong, they're both invulnerable, and their powers basically grow or shrink to fit whatever plot the writer puts them in. The difference is that Goku knows HOW to fight, and Superman is more of a brawler- he's used to being the strongest guy in the room, so he never really trained or practiced. Anyone with anything close to Superman's strength would mop the floor with him if they knew what they were doing.

What confuses me is why there aren't a lot MORE saiya-jin and kryptonians. Both were space-faring civilizations, there's no reason to assume that everybody just happened to be on the home world when it died.

It's kind of tough to tell who would win, really. Both have skills that the other doesn't. Goku seems to have infinite amounts of energy and can increase his strength at a whim, and Superman, meanwhile, is able to fly fast enough to turn back time. Neither is a shoe in for the victory. The battle would be a very close one for certain.

I've heard of that fight but I don't typically agree with Wizard magazine's opinions. They also said the Authority was the best Super hero team in a fight when in recent years Captain Atom defeated most of them by himself. In my opinion they just like to mix things up and be controversial. Though they might have been right if it was the 90's version of Superman who had a reasonable level of power.

@Silverfang1231 Hate to sound like a nerd but technichally dragon ball af dosnt exist. dragonball and dragon ball z were the original manga made by akira toriyama. dragonball gt and af are fanfiction that became popular enough to be made into anime. long story short af isnt apart of the original dragonball series so super ssj 5 and even ssj4 arnt legit tranformations

@bigal1414141414 Good points indeed, however if you are going to go that route the same can be said about superman! Joe Shuster and Jerry Seigel are both original creaters and writers of superman! This dates back decades ago and since supermans first scenes to the comic books, his power too has changed. There isnt enough room on here to list them all, however one main was is, superman cant fly, but only leap over tall buildings, (buildings wernt tall in those days).

They're both super-strong, they're both invulnerable, and their powers basically grow or shrink to fit whatever plot the writer puts them in. The difference is that Goku knows HOW to fight, and Superman is more of a brawler- he's used to being the strongest guy in the room, so he never really trained or practiced. Anyone with anything close to Superman's strength would mop the floor with him if they knew what they were doing.

@loung747 Yeah, they've rewritten that a lot. But, most of the Saiya-jin died when planet Vegeta exploded so you could make the same case the other way. What confuses me is why there aren't a lot MORE saiya-jin and kryptonians. Both were space-faring civilizations, there's no reason to assume that everybody just happened to be on the home world when it died.

@TransformerslNC I'll concede Doomsday (who beat Superman to death btw) was stronger than he was, but I've never seen Superman fight the others without physically overpowering them. The implication has always been that he doesn't exert himself fully when fighting them because he doesn't want to kill anybody. Also, none of the villains you've named were trained martial artists.

Silver Age can beat Goku most likely.
Modern will probably have issues with a Super Sayan.

dude, Goku too can destroy stellar entities, and has himself distorted time. He doesn't charge for two hours, it's just that the battle's going so fast that they show is sometimes slowed down to show all that's going on, not only that, but they have to include subplots, look at the time Goku and vegeta fought Buu, 1 minute took 3 episodes.
ssj4 Goku destroyed the thing that held reality itself together, the incarnation of the dragonballs negative energy. so don't tell me Superman is better.

odd i like anime yet i think superman would clearly own goku's ass even at ssj4, seeing how supes has survived supernovas, exploding planets, black holes, flying into suns, beating gods, angels, and entities that can bend reality and time and space to their will on sheer strength and speed and that you can actually calculate alot of it makes him superior to goku since we really have no concrete proof of how fast or strong goku is besides that he cant lift up a building at ssj4.

It's kind of tough to tell who would win, really. Both have skills that the other doesn't. Goku seems to have infinite amounts of energy and can increase his strength at a whim, and Superman, meanwhile, is able to fly fast enough to turn back time. Neither is a shoe in for the victory. The battle would be a very close one for certain.

Supes, invulnerable, fast, smart. Only thing he lacks is energy beams (since stupid DBZ fans fail to realize those laser beams are hotter than the sun). So because Goku uses Ki attacks, ppl favor him, cause he's flashier. Hmmm what is Supe's to do...
