I had a question did you make your tail following Mermaid Sasha's tutorial or did you just make it off the top of your head, im making a mermaid tail an im going by Mermaid Sasha and LittleOrcas instructions is that a good idea? and the reason why im useing both of their instructions is that Sasha is a bit easyer to follow because she is just "ok here is how to do it" while LittleOrca has more to hers, i just hope my tail comes out great. btw I love your tail =)

As far as specifically making the tail, I used mermaid sasha’’s explanation to get an overall idea on how to sew the tail. Her tail is somewhat simplistic, so I had to experiment sewing a more detailed tail. You need to buy thin needles, which are made to go through thicker fabric. (using a regular needle can result in skipped stitches because the needle won’t go through the layers of your spandex fabric).

To sew the side fins in, I pin a folded piece of mesh fabric in between the two parts of the main body of the tail (with right sides together). after the tail is sewn, I turn it right side out and trim the side fins to my desired shape. ( I cut little strips to make them appear flowy) As far as your fluke, it takes a lot of trial and error to get it just the way you like. Sometimes the idea you invision doesnt look that great in the water.

The fin is easily removable from the tail, since my tail is made from a stretchy spandex material. If you decide to make it out other materials, such as neoprene or latex, you will need to sew in a zipper. The monofin floats in the water, so if i needed to remove the whole tail in an instant, it wouldn't be a problem to just let it go and swim for the surface. This tail in particular can be removed fast because it’s stretchy.
