Thank you for the comment. To the best of my knowledge, he is the real shadow. I've heard afew people say that in the final level of the shadow the hedgehog game if you hold out for long enough Eggman admits he is the real shadow.

he is the first clone of shadow, eggman created.

the real shadow has to be somewhre. even in sonic adventure 2 you don't know if it is the real shadow, rouge is saying something like this, in sonic heroes you get the clone of him, no real "robot" there is a difference between a robot and and android/clone but the real shadow still exist somewhere, you can get all this information if you play sonic heroes, sonic adventure 2, and shadow the hedgehog.

I don't know what episode it is but I can answer the other two questions. Maria was killed by G.U.N soilders. She put Shadow in the capsule to save him and send him to Earth.
