I treated myself to a birthday getaway to LA and it was a trip to remember!!!!! I had a BLAST and it was just me by myself!!! , i drove from oregon to glamis got pull over for going the speed limit and ask what i was doing in california, their so nice down there another cop pull me over for going 10 mile over the speed limit and they charged me $549 and once again was ask what i was doing in their state, remind u i am citizen of the us and was driving a nice car. and when i got to glamis didnt get pulled over there but seen at least 200 tickets issued in 3 days, ps fighting the ticket and was charged $600 aditional fee

Good luck with your education, car, job, etc. If I ever move back to Calif, I would consider Bakersfield--At least it produces things that people can actually use: gasoline, specialty chemicals, cotton, garlic, carrots, potatoes, wheat, etc. Also, since you are a California supporter, you should keep an eye on legislation in Sacramento that would make it even more difficult & expensive to do business in the state. It is a high-cost, highly-regulated environment.

Hey, my family spent three generations in Calif, since World War II. I have been to all the places you mentioned, and some of them are still nice to visit--if you have enough cash. As for Yosemite and Sequoia during any nice weather, forget it---unless you like traffic jams, long lines, and crowds. The massive local population puts huge pressure on the remaining recreational and "natural" venues. If you counted all the illegals, this state probably has 40 million people.

I spent half my life there and I'm glad to be gone. I want to actually see SEASONS. And actually see SNOW! Not just 10 months of sunshine. Day in and day out. It sprinkles there for 10 minutes and they call it "STORM WATCH!"

California is lovely, but has many, many problems. Don't pretend everything is perfect when it's not. It's overcrowded, traffic sucks, smog is terrible, and violence is rampant. If I were to go to California I'd go no further south than San Francisco.

Ummm....I've been here for over 20 years and it WAS a great place to live and visit until recently. EVERYTHING is overpriced here. People have no class and no respect for others. There's homeless people everywhere you turn. Our kids are being poorly educated. The economy is in the toilet and no hope is in sight. And don't drive over the Oakland Bay Bridge because it's unsafe!! no joke! Sooner or later I'll be leaving this poorly managed place...unless I want to join Tent City. depressing!!

Look at the San Fernando Valley, for an example of the demographic trouble that looms over Calif: Its middle class population has been shrinking every year for 20 years, as reported in the LA Weekly. Who is moving in? Low income people who often can't speak English well enough to get a decent job. In fact, Calif would be LOSING population if it weren't for the massive (often illegal) immigration, which, ironically, is driving our the white & black middle class.

This little video is also demographically racist. It shows about 23 people whom you can recognize, and at least 20 are Whites, but this state is only 42.3% White Anglo. This, like many tourist videos, is very deceptive--It should portray the racial and cultural diversity of this reeling, bleeding state that is suffering massive out-migration of native-born American citizens that is only compensated by massive immigration of generally low-income people. And 2010 will be a rough year in Calif.

Good luck with your education, car, job, etc. If I ever move back to Calif, I would consider Bakersfield--At least it produces things that people can actually use: gasoline, specialty chemicals, cotton, garlic, carrots, potatoes, wheat, etc. Also, since you are a California supporter, you should keep an eye on legislation in Sacramento that would make it even more difficult & expensive to do business in the state. It is a high-cost, highly-regulated environment.

You keep neglecting that this video is a tourist ad, not a video encouraging people to set up a business here. As for high cost, there is always going to be high cost when there is a high demand to live here. As for highly regulated environment, well 98 Fortune 1000 companies still claim California as it's headquaters and thousands of people still continue to set up business here so I don't think California is completely unfriendly to business.

This little fluffy video doesn't show you East Oakland, Compton, Oxnard, Bakersfield, San Berdoo, Merced (what's left of it), Fontana, Oroville, Stockton, South Sacto, Vallejo, Richmond, East LA, East Palo Alto, East-side SJ, and the other real "garden spots" of this overcrowded, arrogant, over-hyped, fiscally broken, & polluted state. Hey, my family spent three generations in Calif, since World War II. I have been to all the places you mentioned, and some of them are still nice to visit--if you have enough cash. As for Yosemite and Sequoia during any nice weather, forget it---unless you like traffic jams, long lines, and crowds. The massive local population puts huge pressure on the remaining recreational and "natural" venues. If you counted all the illegals, this state probably has 40 million people.
