"Over 9,000" is more famous, and it is the original. But, Chris Sabat got sick of people asking him to say it, so in DBZ Kai, he changed it to "Over 8,000".

The Ocean Dub English and the Funimation Dub English say 9,000

But, since Sabat got sick of the "Over 9,000" thing, he just used the "Over 8,000" - From the Manga.

The reason that DBZ Kai used "Over 8,000" is because there trying to make DBZ Kai closer to the manga.

What you're not understanding is that "Over 9,000" is the original according to the anime (dbz english). I wasn't talking about the manga.
