  • dnt get yur hopes up for anything wit rachel finn or kurt in glee..... this wuz there last season i read it on there twitters

  • no-one can compare to this

  • THIS is how it's done.

  • Anthony Rapp <3 No one can compare to the OBC <3

  • is this opening night?

  • Anthony rapp is, was and will always be a genius at this song.

  • I am a big renthead this was the best cast

  • At closing, they've come a long way with the choreography since the early days.

  • OBC isn't my favourite cast. blah.

  • 1:29

anthony rapp is literally the most adorable person ever

  • The only cast for me.

  • Don't get me wrong,

I LOVE the obc, and there'll never be one to match,

But am I the only one who thinks it'd be awesome if the cast of Glee did a take on a song from RENT?

I'm thinking Finn and Rachel doing "I'll cover you"

  • @MikeG506 You are SO right! And you are not the only one, since the did ''Defying gravity'' from Wicked, I don't see why they wouldn't do a song from Rent. It would be amazing.

And if Kurt gets a boyfriend, they should do ''I'll cover you'' too...no?

  • @zacoufan I agree, Kurt and potential boyfriend doing "I'll Cover You" would be adorable.

  • @MikeG506 Rachel and Mercedes are gonna do "Take Me Or Leave Me" in an episode called "Comeback"

  • @MikeG506 Nah, I'll Cover You should be by Kurt and his boyfriend~ In all honesty, I think Glee should have a whole episode to RENT! Angel - Kurt Collins - Blaine Mark - Artie [but that would be hard so it could be Finn too.] Roger - Puck Mimi - Rachel? Joanne - Santana Maureen - Brittany Benny - Uhh... Sam? And Mercedes could be the girl with the amazing Seasons of Love solo... Or something. @_@ Well, that's just my opinion. :)
  • @yaoinowplease Ooh, now there's an idea, although yes, there is officially a confirmation that Rachel and Mercedes will do "Take me Or Leave Me" in an upcoming episode. But I'd like to make an adjustment to your wonderful fantasy cast list, If I may. Angel - Kurt Collins - Blaine Mark - Definitely Finn Roger - Puck Mimi - Santana Joanne - Mercedes Maureen - Rachel Britanny And Artie, Since they're dating, can I don't know, be left out, or sing No Day but today, or whatever. Hmm...
  • @MikeG506 Ahh, I like that too! I just don't see why Rachel and Mercedes would... @_@ Nevermind. XD But hey, as long as they do a Rent episode, I'm happy!!

  • @MikeG506 Amazing. I love how nobody protests against Kurt being Angel. xD Especially since he wouldn't dress like a transvestite for Rocky Horror Glee Show.. ;)

  • Wow, I've always wanted to see a recording of the original cast on Broadway... thank you!

  • Was it you who had the whole Rent opening night on video format?

  • I cried like a baby the entire second act, and I adore this play.

Saw it in San Diego on the very last day. I lip-synced all of it except for the voice mails and Contact.

    FAVORITE PLAY EVER!!!

    ~Signed,

    Total Rent-head.

  • The best Rent cast ever.

  • Anthony and Idina I love them!

  • never got to see on broadway have see on internet and movie love show and music and the theme

  • this might be the wittiest song ever written...and it kinda makes me feel better about being a pseudo-bohemian...

  • Are they referring to the death of the dog Angel killed? I can't remember...

  • @Bubbles36785 yeah, they are.

  • @oscarlover100 wait but arent they talking about the death of Bohemia because Benny said that behimia is dead and they Mark said at the end of his first part of his speech "we raise our glass to La Vie Boheme"

  • @moviestarquacker That's true. I thought Bubbles36785 was refering to the part before they started singing. I guess I misunderstood the question.

  • ANTHONY IS SO FREAKIN ADORABLE! I love that man.

I've always loved his "Going against the grain" move. And his "more than one dimension" move. :D

  • u stopped it RIGHT when she was about to kiss mark!lol

  • The movie worked better for blocking, but that makes sense. But I love the broadway cast!

  • @NoNotNoww you do realize that its the same cast other then mimi and joanne in the movie ?

  • yes i do...

  • Anthony's dancing is so awesome. It makes me want to jump on the table and dance with him. =P

  • I love Anthony's dancing!

  • 3:36 XD

  • @SingActDanceBway4evr I think I replied 2 the worng person lol. In the movie during la vie boheme, Idina doesn't do the blow of auntie em thing cuz she was in Wicked.

  • Comment removed

  • When they all say "blow off auntie em" Idina doesnt say or do the motion..she said in an interview that it would've been disrespectful 2 Wicked

  • ohh im so sorry xD lol i got it

  • wicked didnt even exist then lol. maybe like in the movie she didnt do it but only mimi and mark sang that part =)

  • didn't Mimi and Mark (or was it Angel) who did that and not the rest? ah i got confused! LOL

  • what? lol. mark and maureen were about to kiss the video got cut off. lol.

  • oh the blow off auntie em part. LOL :) it was Mimi and Mark who did that, or Mimi and Angel i think in the movie. ;)

  • mimi and mark did that in both the musical and the movie.

  • thanks very much! i got meself confused i guessed. thanks! :)

  • She doesn't say it because it's not her line. Only Mark and Mimi sing that line.

And Wicked didn't even exist when Idina played Maureen in Rent. Idina was Maureen LONG before she was Elphaba, so I doubt she was worried about being disrespectful to Wicked.

And I don't get how that line is disrespectful to Wicked, anyway. It's just a reference from the Wizard of Oz.

  • I don't mean the OBC. I meant the movie. She was in Rent first, I know. Then she went onto Wicked. When she stopped doing Wicked, and was asked to do the Rent movie, she decided that even though she did Rent before Wicked, it would be disrespectful. Her interview is somewhere on here.

  • @SingActDanceBway4evr I noticed that 2..thats why in the movie "Collins" pulled her head back and she didn't do the gesture lol. I love it

  • What gesture? Does anyone else wonder why Jesse L Martin didn't make the reunion in 2008?

  • love antony rapp!!! and everybody others!!!!!

  • but the point is rent was done like 10 years before wicked was made into a show. there is no connection between that line and wicked.

  • Sucks that its not done.... but awesome to see

  • did this before wicked, so, nice try

  • Anthony looks so young! =O

Wilson looks soooo buff too. Bet when he was working out he wasn't thinking, "Maybe I should tone it down on the push ups in case I'm ever a drag queen actor..." Lmao. And DAMN can that boy dance!

  • Me too :)

  • Such a good cast! All hail the mighty Rapp, hahaha.

    <3

  • omg i am in love with this song and cast

    anthony omg how cute

what a talented buch of people

    LA VIE BOHEME

  • best part of the song is mimi's scream when roger pulls her off the table; so cute :P

  • Damn, did Angel take dance lessons from Beyonce or something? Lol, jk ;)

  • Rent is my favorite musical of all times

  • I love how Mark's clothes barely fit him. Anthony Rapp is adorable <3

  • I <3 anthony! : )

  • lol 3:36 Roger pulls Mimi off the table and she screams :p

  • wow i love seeing broadways musicals as they grow. Like Rent and Next to Normal. There is always room for improvement. Love both musicals btw ;D and wicked!

  • No cast has ever been as good as the original, except for the new additions in the movie in my personal opinion. I haven't seen a cast up to the standards I feel like Larson set. They're good, but I don't think Larson would have picked them if he were alive.

  • The energy on this stage is absolutely amazing. The original cast definitely made this show what it is today.. I don't think anyone can live up to their greatness. Seriously.

  • they kiss right when it ends. insane. then. joanne get's pissed. hence the "and by next week i want you to be. pookie! and you should see..." etc. etc. this play completes my life shit.

  • Wow, if you watch what anthony does with his hands&arms doing this scene and then watch it in other vids later on and in the movie, you can watch him evolve his arm movements more and more.

  • thank you. me and my friends are doing a complete reenactment of this scene at our local coffee house. i have to study this and the whole different versions of this to get our version just right. i can't wait. it's going to be so fun.

  • Anthony was so young and cute there!

And everyone has alot of evergy!

    Especially Daphne...she was great there!

  • this makes me appreciate the movie that much more

  • the dude that plays mark sounds like hes in his comfort zone in the tone of his voice too much...if that makes sense

  • I'd sell my kidneys to have a chance to see the OBC live......except Joanne and Mimi, because Traci Thoms and Rosario dawson rock. The stage version is so different from the movie!!! Sad that it closed.

  • Jesse freaking rocks in this, since everybody else wants to comment on Adam and Anthony.

  • Was this shot on or off broadway?

  • ピーウィー・ハーマンのとき自慰のポーズしてるよねw

  • OBCCCCCCCCCCC<3

  • lol i agree

    plus mark is kinda hot

  • hahaha u gotta love marks white boy moves lol

  • its anthony rapp.... he can do whatever the hell he wants its still amazing

  • this number has changed sooo much over teh years oh my god.

  • shit look how hot anthony rapp was.

  • Not that I'm commenting on how "hot" he looked but personally, I don't think he looks THAT different nowadays.

  • they made a mistake

  • They did? Where? -curious-

  • At around 1:43ish. Anthony sings 'hating dimension' instead of 'hating convention'.

  • He does say 'hating convention'. The mistake is that no one says Lenny Bruce. Collins should say it.

  • Roger says "Lenny Bruce".

I think his mic was off but if you watch it, he like moves his head like in the movie when he says it.

I wish I coulda seen this live...

  • I agree completeley.

I'll never have the chance now, unles they revive it with the original cast, which is unlikely. :P

  • He does say it, but it's hard to understand. I do believe they changed things from the original to the movie, though. Like the fact that Collins talks about Mimi doing a dance first rather than talking about Maureen first like he does in the movie. He and Mark switched lines.

Might I say that Anthony's dancing is great? Unique and awesome.

  • at 3.18 there sopost to sing laning bruse

  • They are supposed to say Lenny Bruce, and actually I think they do but I think Adam's pic went out.

  • I think that's the quality of the recording more than their pitch (they sound mostly on, to me), but I see where you're coming from.

Whoever marked that down needs a swift kick, too. Guys, read what people say instead of being asses.

  • I think it's because of the video quality.

  • my goodness, totally in love with Anthony....one of the BEST Marks' ever

  • 1:59 - beast!

haha and 2:12 was a spazzy jump--I LOved It!!

haha omg im like in love w/ ADAM

  • If it sucked as bad on broadway as you seem to think, then they wouldn't have made a movie of it in the first place, now would they?

  • i love this song its my favourite musical

  • im kinda inlove w. anthony rapp and adam pascal <3333 haha

  • I dont blame you.

    Mee too!

  • They were the only original cast members I saw when I went to the show and I was ridiculously star struck.

  • ME TOO!!!!!

  • i know this isn't her song, but I love Idina Menzel! This song is probably one of my higher fav's in this show.

  • I love you Mark :]

    Seriously. He's sexy!

  • I love Anthony Rapp. :)

  • just made my day!!!

  • Ohh how I wish you had the whole thing! It's amazing! Thanks for posting!

  • Ohhh Anthony....I love you dear :-)

  • its so cool to see how far this has come! although it wuz obviously awesome from the start...Yay rent!!!

  • Anthony is so spazzy! I love him! ^ ^

  • did idina ever wear the blue maureen shirt, or did that come later?

  • It's more or less basically the same, lol.

  • the movie gave it no justice. most of the show is in verse, and the movie put it all into boring words. if jonathan larson was alive, i dont think the movie would have been like it is. he would have made sure the true idea stayed. la boheme is the basis, and muzettas waltz holds true. these things are lost in the glamor of the movie. nothing beats going to see the show and waiting for the surprises held in store.

  • okay...

    yeah...the play was good.

    but so was the movie!

it gave rent a whole new essence and really captured it beautifully.

its so much more realistic and it shows how real rent was.

i think jonathan would've loved that rent became so popular as a movie as well as a play.

  • i learned about rent through the movie and normaly when that happens i end up prefering the movie(like with phantom of the opera) but that is so not true with rent. i do enjoy and like the movie but nothing will ever beat seeing it live especialy with adam and athony. its pure magic!!!

  • When I went to see it live in Chicago Adam didnt seem into it at all it was weird. But I do agree onstage they are pretty good.

  • i think he was sick in chicago so that would be why

  • oh and when i saw rent live the first time there where a lot of things that where not sung in the movie or they where not in the movie at all, like christmas bells and everything thats sung in the loft, and i think some of those songs espcially christmas bells made it then lose some of the magic of the movie. i really wish they would have left all the singing in the lofe in.

  • jesse is supposed to sing lenny bruce i cant believe he missed his mark

  • it's really not that big of a deal.

  • OH MY WOW! I am on my knees bowing...bowing.

  • greatness...there should be no criticism on this

  • Now they have actually have choreography durin the middle part of La Vie Boheme. Here was kind of freestyle

  • OMFG, it's the OBC!

    On your fucking knees, Youtubers!

  • who was supposed to sing lenny bruce

    they missed their cue

  • adam pascal aka "roger"

  • Adam Pascal sings Langston Hughes not Lenny Bruce.

It's one of the ensemble that was supposed to sing that.

  • No isn't it Jesse (Collins) that was supposed to say "Lenny Bruce" before Adam said "Langston Huges"?

  • ahahaha

idina and jesse messed up the dancingg

    hehehee

    and they laughed while singing

    when they sing

    "emotion devotion" part

  • :O In the OBC they didnt do the birth thing? Idina would have done it good. :(

  • i thought that part in the last cast was tacky and unecessary.

  • AMEN!!!

  • lol.

it seemed as if the last "maureen" was trying too hard.

  • i soo agree! it kind of ruined the moment...

  • =]

    lol

  • adam, LENNY BRUCE :D

  • he always seemed to forget his lines, even when he came back years later.

    it was actually funny!

  • does idina flah her ass infront of benny on every rent show?

  • no wonder they got married huh? just kidding...

  • hahaha I was thinking the same exact thing yesterday! I saw the play and Nicolette Hart went right up to Benny when flashing him, and I was like so thats why Idina and Taye got married!!!

  • i think Adam forgot about Lenny Bruce there lol haha :)

  • yeah thats what i was thinking!! :D

  • 2:50. Wilson. <3

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA i love how it just cuts off and goes, sorry this is not the whole thing. its not supposed to be funny i know but i didnt realise it wasnt the whole thing till after. really awesome what was there!!!!! I heart Rent!

  • who is the girl sitting next to angel?

  • an Ensemble :)

  • Just an ensemble member. I don't think she has a name.

  • i love the rap part xD

  • ?

angel during LVB-B after "I should tell you"?

  • Hey, did Maureen kiss Mark at the very end of this clip?

  • So... SOme of the peple from the movie were from the OBC! Cool!

  • Yes, all of the OBC main Cast was in the show except the two who played Mimi, and Joanne, they were not able to be in the movie. I found that out and thought it was the most awesome thing lol.

  • Now, if they make a Movie of WIcked, which they really can't just not make one, they should try to get the OBC to do that too.

  • They'd be so old by then, I think it would be kinda weird. lol

  • How would they be old?

Idina is the most amazing Elphaba ever, and Glindas part was written for Kristin Chenoweth. I don't like the original Fiyero though, I hope Taye Diggs will do it...

  • Screw Wicked, it's all about RENT...

  • He has done it. Look up Tapdawg93. He has the whole show of Taye as Fiyero.

  • I have an infinite amount of respect for stage musical actors, but I must admit I liked the film better. Dancing around on a table while singing quickly looks and sounds so much better when you get to do multiple takes.

  • lmfaoooo this is amazing. and anthony is ridiculously cute.

and DAMN. i thought mimi was the dancer. wilson can move. x))

  • idina is awesome!!

  • This is great! I love Daphne's squeal at 3:37,

and Anthony is adorable as usual! OBC beats all cast!!

  • rent was the best broadway show i EVER seen. i love rent. for halloween me and my friends are going as rent characters (: rent is the best !@#$%^&

  • I am so glad that I got to see this on Broadway! What a fantastic show!

  • Anthony Rapp is SO adorable!!

  • omg i didnt kno wilson could move like tht.homeboy is freakin hot!

  • mark's dance moves rock!

  • i cant wait till i see this show in theatres my mom said i could see it than and then i get to see it again live with wait for it ADAM PASCAL as roger and ANTHONY RAPP as mark im so lucky

  • YAY IDINA !!!

  • They really are the best cast! I can't help but watch Maureen, Mark, Angel, and Collins!

  • Yes amazing, nothing could ever compare to this group of talented people!

  • "To S&M" look at Idina! Sooo funny

  • THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!

They don't make Musicals like that! They just don't! Never has there been ANYTHING like that on Broadway and I feel quite confident in saying there never will be!

    THANK YOU JONATHAN LARSON!
