I wish Maxim would stop being so whiney. "Happiness is something I know nothing about" Sheesh. Cut the shit and stop with the mellow dramatics! He is a hauntingly beautiful man and just carries himself so well. He plays that role too well. Makes you want to smack him.
The music is yes... a definite mood tranquilizer. Like... when you start the movie, the INTRO.. and you hear that overture... OH YES! Manderlay! brings me right back!
Any one read the books Mrs. Dewinter and then rebecca's Tale? If your a TRUE fan of Dumarier's classic tale--- YOU MUST READ THESE!!!
WARNING..like pandora and her box..once you continue the story, you can never erase it from memory. The events that are soon to transpire will drastically alter the story and it's characters. Very sad and shocking and pleasently suprising.
I FOR ONE-- loved them. But there is only ONE Dumarier. no one weaves a tale like her.
skylur--- you are way out of line!!!! You are the one who spawned this whole ordeal. You are indeed quite rude.! And i'm only sticking up for flownoms.
but flow--- you did start with - "...Um, excuse me, but do you think I don't know that it is deliberate? (that beginning just sounded kinda rude)
but-- skyler you went a little too far by saying ---"Go fuck yourself, "mate."
IMO--- skyler is a little too sensitive. Syler you should really take your advice and some sedatives!!
@MrShaun42088 sorry for starting it off rudely sky:P I thought you were trying teach me a lesson. thing is I already knew what hiding her name is for, I'm not stupid, it's just my own opinion of not liking it haha :) and sorry for messing you into this shaun
@Flownoms i love to get mail. that's okay. You are so much better for saying sorry to that rude ass. i just love this story Xoxoxo if i was on an island and had only 1 book to bring. definetly.... Ahhhhhh Manderlay xoxo
@MrShaun42088 haha I love getting mail too. Ah so you like this? Nice to see someone appreciate something good once in a while. And you're very polite haha where do you come from?
@Flownoms Polite- try and convince some of these guys i met on another page. Wow..people be very crazy! I went to a death metal page (you know.. very loud and incoherent screaming)- hope you don't dig that stuff..but i happed to comment on how astounded i was to see how many people loved that music (i call it random bouts of percussive violence set to rythem) but whatever...of course haters came flocking to me. i have a compultion at answer comments-- and Q's-- I'm from Illinois and i <3 Dauphne
@MrShaun42088 If by "dig" you mean "fancy/like" then no I don't really but I tend not to judge music because I hate making the artists feel bad even though I'm more of a Beatles person, Rock, even other stuff as long as I can understand what they're saying, and what they're saying is relevant.Well the comments here are the first hate comments I've gotten really. Illinois? Nice place? We should maybe get an inbox sometime so we don't piss people off haha
@Flownoms Comments are a liberty and i try to use that power when i can.Not that i wanna aim for rivalry when i post something, it's just my opinion.Like i said i like to comment, no matter how trivial. An inbox? I recon our little communion will dwindle to a standstill not too soon.Things usually workout that way. But, as long as you comment--i'l be sure to give the last word. By the bye- was that you in the video with the crazy shades and mustashes of different colors?TRUE? VERY AMUSING ha ha
@MrShaun42088 Ah, I'm not really fond of rivalry so I tend not to get into debates too often..Haha and I like having the last word so I doubt that! HAHA yes that's me. I can't tell if you're being sarcastic? Stop watching them they're from so long ago haha
@Flownoms I'm completely sincere. LiveLoveLaugh--hahahaha Stop watching them?. Now i can't tell if that was a command i'm suposed to take seriously? I won't ofcourse. Unless you persist. Seriously- your little movie was so amusing. The concept of you just being plain silly with your disquises was to me the GREATEST! That's what i call comedy! Seems much like something my whimisical little imagination would have conceived. Your intriguing me to continue on my endevors to unwravel the mystery of U
@MrShaun42088 Hahaha no it isn't a command I just feel pretty stupid when I re-watch them. Then again my point was to be a little absent minded haha "endevors" ? my oh my sir, you have a quite a bit of rich vocabulary there, I'm assuming you aren't a 6th grader. Then again, the world tends to surprise me and my gut tends to mislead me.
@Flownoms So funny--i never have enough room in these little boxes. i always have to delete something. Although, in this box i'm certain i'll have adequate space available. no-- i'm in 7th grade now. (I wish) wow... if only i could do it all again. I'm actually 27. so --where are you from? ---- yeah---that's all i got right now...my mentel energy is depleeting at a rather alarming rate ahhhhhhhhhhhh I gotta go take a nap zzzzzz LOL
@MrShaun42088 Haha normally I don't either. Haha 27 yes that fits you well. I'm from London and Copenhagen but I speak fluent french without an accent because I lived in France for 4 years. And I taught myself the american accent, and slips such as saying "football" instead of "soccer" occur rarely. Haha your mental age and energy don't bother me as long as they remain somewhat amusing, which for now, they are haha.
@Flownoms I gotta tell ya flow. your last comment kinda put me out?---
your mental age and energy don't bother me as long as they remain somewhat amusing, which for now, they are haha.
-as long as they remain amusing--for now---they are....----I don't wanna offend you in anyway, nor would i ever wanna bore you. I told you from the beginning-- I recon our little communion will dwindle to a standstill not too soon.Things usually workout that way. It's been fun talking to you. I hope 2 TTYL
@MrShaun42088 I think you took it the wrong way: you said "mental energy" , associated it with a young mind as I have myself haha it's a good thing. You confuse me? "It's been fun talking to you" but then "I hope 2 TTYL" ?. Fun talking to you too, and continue to have good taste in movies because this one is great!
@Flownoms I pondered for a while on my previous closing statements, as i do with all my messages. I was gonna reply P.s. ( I'm probably reading too much into this and am taking this into the wrong directon. I should say that it is really fun and a great treat to recieve your messages.)
now-- I did deliberately say- been (past tense) only because i left it as an open end for you to either decline on recieving any further correspondence or TTYL in hopes you might not find me a nusance.
@Flownoms I pondered for a while on my previous closing statements, as i do with all my messages. I was gonna directly reply P.s.
@MrShaun42088 Haha I really don't mind talking to you, here or anywhere as long as we talk about interesting things. An uninteresting conversation is an unnecessary one most times, don't you think?
haha I don't mind corresponding. That's partially what youtube is for. Talking about what you like and sharing it with the world.
@Flownoms i'm not too sure on how stimulating my conversation is to a mind like yours, or anyones for that matter. When you keep saying stuff like that, it makes me feel like i'm gonna let you down or bore you. I've sent you a plethora of topics... please consider one, or make one anew if you deem it nesessary. - you did mention that you discuss this book frequently with associates, i wonder how this plays such a pivitol role in your station?
@MrShaun42088 It seems like you aren't reading what I'm writing haha I am infact continuing upon your topics when I can. Well I wasn't thinking that you would bore me, I was rather thinking "should I get into a deep conversation with a person that can depart and never resume communication with me ever again?". But I mean if you're willing to continue discussing, by all means, do talk and conclude and deduct haha
@Flownoms your right ha ha ha I'm all over... i'll just go sit quietly for a while and reflect upon all that has transpired LOL.------- by all means, let us talk, discuss, conclude and deduct haha LOL
@MrShaun42088 Confusing!- I have to scroll down and look for your replies, I get them by email and the notification flashes upon my desktop instantly. Youtube has a bad commenting system (cause), so I know what to look for but it's still a little bit of a hassle (consequence). I wish Youtube had a better commenting system (...conclusion?). I'm unsuccessfully trying to Analyzing my "arduous" situation haha. Back to the book shall we? What more can be said? And I too am running out of box room S:
@Flownoms you are being such a great sport! Thumbs up to you Mate! ---alas...time is constricting. I shall consider something great for my next comment. Have a great evening buddy :)
@MrShaun42088 Haha thanks mate, time is constricting in fact, I have a huge French Examen and a French History-Geography examen that will make an important difference on my passing this year. So toodles to you ! Hope to see you soon :)
@Flownoms as all the usual people would say ---Good Luck'--- but i'm not so usual... so i'll say,--- what study....GIRL...YOU GOT THIS!!!! ha ha ha you are so clever, i'm CERTAIN you'll impress!
@Flownoms ha ha.. running out of room in my box.... how this story plays such a central role in your daily affairs. what your doing in life and career to be discussing and writing about this so much with peers and superiors. (thats what i tried to get at,-- it was a tuff one!!! ha ha ha -your like wtf?? hahaha)
@MrShaun42088 hahaha yes I was a little "like wtf??". Career? You don't even know how old I am! It doesn't play such a central role in my daily affairs, I just enjoy being a knowledgeable person haha. And as you could see before, I had a loooot of time on my hands, which led to silly videos! :D but hey now I'm doing major stuff in my life and I don't have time anymore. But I still sit down every once in a while on my roof while its raining and paint or read at night time. Life is for living!
@MrShaun42088 Yes, I am. Often told I seem older. I haven't quite figured out if it bothers or pleases me. Either way, I'm not exactly content with my age and I'd rather be older. Then again I'd rather be a carefree teen than a responsible mature adult. I'll remain a child at heart when I grow up. Or maybe I've already acquired the mental maturity that I'm supposed to have throughout my life? Is that sad? Or good? Who knows..
@Flownoms Be who you would seem to be, follow your heart, Keep faith, strong morals and virtues. Always strive to be happy. i feel...your comments require alot more thought to give them proper justice. understand.. i will be back. thank you
@Flownoms I definetly would have pinned you as being older than your teens.I hear that women mature faster than men, would you believe that? (being a woman, how could you oppose?)(i say that, only because the typical woman always claims men are pigs and women should pretty much rule the world, if they don't already). i always wanted to stay young, like peter pan, and never mature, become an adult and take responsibilities. time will never marr the purity of my heart. wisdom will bring Undrstndng
@MrShaun42088 well, pretty much any guy I've ever been with has been 2 or 3 years older than me, guess that says a little haha. I did hear that girls mature faster, then again I don't think guys are pigs. I think that most pigs are guys. That's all haha. And women shouldn't rule the world because ruling the world means ruling everything else and if it's the woman doing all the work in bed, then somethings wrong haha.
@Flownoms i think women pretty much rule the world anyways.... men are slaves for their women. we will go to war for a woman. ... Women have definetly Tamed the wild beast in man. Conformed us to accept neat little ties, clean little houses, nurturing and tenderness, hand holding, ect... a man will crumble to the almightly power of the female. (and i call myself a man....geez...hope ya don't think too little of me ha ha ha) just being fair---- (p.s. most pigs are men ha ha ha ha-- your so fun!)
@MrShaun42088 hahahaha ahhh it seems like you respect women greatly. GOOD GOOD. Keep it that way you will get far in life if you haven't already haha. (p.s.: tis' the truth though sir! :) )
@Flownoms OMG-- totally putting my foot in my mouth!!! i better just stick to plain old--- 'hello, thanx and that was great'- comments. But.. uncertainty prevails, and i wonder-- you really don't mind chatting in this way? We've definetly filled more than this page! LOL How funny it will seem to everyone who wanders onto this page. They will read our history. And they will know that --We were here... in this moment. Our own little bottle of Memories.
@MrShaun42088 Oh I thought I answered this question. Well movies or books? Lord Of The Lies, A Tale Of Two Cities, Romeo and Juliet, Pride and Prejudice, Charles Dickens inspires me..:]
@Flownoms Excellent selection. I love the classics. There are just too many to read in this lifetime, let alone the new moder texts. (I go both ways ha ha --in books silly!)
@MrShaun42088 HAHAHA oooh gooshhh! Are you the sarcastic type that happens to contribute a slight sexual comment or joke to a conversation and insert it at convenient time? Or is that what I tend to do? haha
@Flownoms I love DuMarier's book 'My Cousin Rachel'....OMG. do you think she was Guilty or Innocent?
Also---another great one is 'Dragonwyck' by Anya Seton. (to me...that one rivals Rebecca)--Oh yeah!! I SAID IT!!!!! oooooooooooohhhh.. ha ha ha hope you know of these 2. BIG CAPITAL LETTERS OF LOVE <3<3<3
@MrShaun42088 hahaha thank you I will study :) but it's...Friday. I hate saying that now because a "Rebecca Black" pun/joke will always follow..Why can't I just say "Today's Friday" without having someone yell at me "And tomorrow is Saturday!" like I didn't know before..
@Flownoms i'm not certain on "rebecca black" ? -----no studying on friday...SUPER! (should i know the joke? hmmmm.......i'm blank, i can't imagine...... i'm sure you inform me. maybe it's obvious! OH NO! what a putz i am! ha ha ha
@MrShaun42088 oh finally someone that doesn't know her. If you have any decency at all you will NOT go search her up on Youtube. Then again, curiosity can get overwhelming. But once you watch it, it will never come out of your mind, like Pandora's Box but not in a very negative way haha.
@Flownoms I never did check out the rebecca black thing... what should i look for, if look i should? that is to say... what does she offer, what's so great about her, should i check her out? is she worth the time to invest? I believe i saw what she looks like. It was a random segment on the News about her song about the weekend. like friday or something... Is it a TV show?..... OKAY-- your probably gonna reply--- DUDE, your on youtube, type in her name and press ENTER ha ha ha
@Flownoms I was just going to say---- I'll not take up too much of your time. you can relax and wait to comment anyfurther if you wish. You've supplied me with my daily requirement. Although, i could keep typing for awhile. Work has zapped my energy--- gotta power down for a nap zzzzz You still are GREAT! TTYL buddy
@MrShaun42088 Haha good that I am still great. And about you getting confused and trying to find which comments go with which -> thats what INBOX is for mate, but you're the one who prefers continual comments haha
@Flownoms I went back to your first statement of ----why don't you know the character's (joan) name?? Did you read the book? (just curious)-- i absolutely love it. so many elements make it great.
I rather think the author was quite clever in writing the whole story (and there's LOTs of conversation) without once having to actually say her name specifically. always alluded...madem, miss, mrs, -you! (Vanharper). Also gives the reader the liberty to romance over any name of their choosing. IMO
@MrShaun42088 I read the book. Skipped parts at times, but as far as my recollection goes, I have no memory of the new mrs.de winters name being mentioned anywhere.
@Flownoms skipped?? o my... it is a bit elaborate at times... the beginning when she describes all the plants growing along the drive and encompassing the house. The rooms, furnishings, conversations, ect.
I'm a big cheat-- I enjoyed the Audio Book. Soooooo goood. The woman who narrates it has the perfect shy, innocent, and breathless hesitating tone. so like Joan Fontaine. And.. i plow through that book fast on audio. Like a long movie in my head. I hope you try it sometime. Especially Rebecca
@MrShaun42088 Elaborate yes, yet it remains a nice kind of elaborate which takes me a long time to get bored of. But at my age, enough is enough especially concerning descriptive paragraphs that do nothing but depict...and depict and depict....
I'm not fond of cheating, but yes Audios are nice haha. I force myself to start a long and boring book and then I tend to quite like the plot in the end and the outcome etc.. :]
@Flownoms I MOSTLY WONDER-- if your getting bored with talking about this Damn movie!!! Sorry. So many questions and so much to discuss. but..only to True fan would have the patience to digress over such trivial topics. If you wish....you could simply say that it is indeed a big world and that you don't intend to stay here for the rest of your life. time to be moving along. bye.(of course that wasn't very simple, and it's complex-- it seems to me that your just too good of a person to say adieu
@Flownoms as to her name again-- in the book, in the begining stages of her and maxim's courting, she was sent flowers with a note attached. she had discovered that they were from maxim and stated "atleast he had managed to spell her name right"--- so it's obviously not a simple name like anne, or marie. i like to name her Dauphne (De Winter). First, because if it wasn't for this book, i'd never had spelled that correctly. 2nd- it just pays tribute to the author. Prbly2Fncy4herTho
@MrShaun42088 Fancy or not, she has no name and it won't change so I might as well get over my own bothers haha. Another thing though, before I stop complaining, is that I'm getting a little tired of writing "The new Mrs. De Winter" or "Max De Winter's new wife"..If her name was "Dauphne", my life would be simpler, considering I talk/write a lot about this book and movie to my peers and superiors.
@Flownoms OMG-- did you get all my Q's? I seriously sent you like 5. I know! Crazy!! This little box was not doing it for me! I really expected more than just the 1 responce. i gave you many questions and topics to discuss. And frankly, if you don't mind, i would like to hear about your thoughts. 1 in particular dealt with the topic of our communion. others were intriguing aswell.... i value your opinions. Sincerly
@Flownoms did you ever give her a name?-- how did you like my power of logical deduction on the name. would you agree that "he spelled it right" means it must be complicated and definetly not simple right??
@MrShaun42088 Yes, I agree with your deduction. It seems like you've really thought it through, I'm quite impressed actually. Yes, I did give her a name, several actually. I thought of Phoebe for example, because it's often spelt incorrectly, especially by youngsters. Phoebe De Winter. Nice? In chapter 4 page 26, Maxim tells her that she has a very lovely and peculiar name. I also thought about it a little there.
@Flownoms i'm certain your right. Phoebe--geez-- i still can't spell that- i gotta look at yours- LOL You even got the page down! Dang--- haha (lovely and peculiar) --phoebe is definetly peculiar.. (i'm not sure either of our picks are a Dumarier match made in heaven LOL)..
@MrShaun42088 We better not tell Daphne Dumaurier that we're trying to solve her mystery! I guess we shouldn't try to solve this, it's supposed to be unknown. Oh actually I just checked it's "lovely and unusual" sorry I wasn't reading before. I think Phoebe suits her well. And Ms.Danvers still scares me a shit load. I would qualify her as a "rebeccosexual" or whatever you want to call that strange necrophilia-attraction she feels for her dead and beloved mistress D:
@Flownoms It was a very intersting situation for Danvers. Rebecca was dead- a year (right?), manderlay was beautified by R, (so here presence was NEVER forgotten, she was a maternal figure to R, she believed R had drown and believed maxim mourned for her. Seeing the New Mrs. drove Mrs. Danvers crazy! OMG- it was my little sweet Dauphne's fault. she drove her to it. (how ironic).. she would have kept on maintaining the order of things, just as they always had been,-- till the end
@MrShaun42088 haha I like your analytical mind it's very intriguing. Do continue to analyze this piece of literature, it's quite entertaining :] Are there any other classics you're fond of? And I can't imagine the poor Youtubers scrolling down just to see endless pages of us rambling on about things that could seem utterly trivial to them haha oh dear..
@Flownoms Indeed... I am fond of many titles. But for the poor Youtubers on this page--I'll offer them these Great Titles.
Recomended: 'Mrs. Dewinter' --the continuation of Rebecca, as well as --'Rebecca's Tale'
Warning: you youtubers who are somehow seeing this, under the pile of literature Flow and I have co-written. I must say, about those particular 2 stories, much like Pandora and her box.. once you read them, you can NEVER erase it from your memory. Lots of Shocking Twists and Suprises
@MrShaun42088 oh yes I see that you have said that before (referring to pandora's box). Quite, quite. People used to call me Flora Pandora, it got tiresome. And the youtubers will just have the pleasure of reading such magnificently written deductions, analyzations and conclusions haha
@Flownoms Definetly had to warn them, incase THEy didn't see my previous precaution. :).... ha ha ha Flora Pandora? wonder what that's supposed to imply? (no really....i wonder????)
I'm uncertain... did you have a chance to indulge in those tales? The one i'm looking forward to hearing about is your review on Dragonwyck. Great story...Big haunted, gothic mansion, a shy, innocent heroin, the dark mysterious master of the house. Suspence, romance and mystery abound.
@MrShaun42088 well..it doesn't imply anything. Guys would just ask me "can I open your box baby?". I'm not going to lie, for 2 days it was pretty hot. Then it got really creepy.
I have discussed it without reading it. Weird? but yes I have. I know not much about it though except what you just said and a few other things but they remain trivial.
@Flownoms are you referring to dragonwyck? never read? oh.....for shame... :(
OR JOY-- which means, you'll Totally enjoy it for the first time!!! what an experience! This first time is most often the best. I remember the first time i read rebecca (okay....listened to it, cuz i cheat haha)-- oh, if only we could start over. My books and me have a special relationship. we have become ONE. our souls are together in an unbreakable bond! forever. have you heard of --'the 13th Tale'?
@MrShaun42088 Yes I am referring to Dragonwyck. Hahahaha I love your personality it's sooo...xD Eusebius to Florestan like. But in moderate quantities and the at the right times. I trust you know Robert Schumann? Not to be confused with Schubert!
Haha I gotta say I laughed when you said "the first time!!! what an experience! the first time is most often the best."
Yes, it seems like I must read Dragonwyck and the 13th Tale then :)
@Flownoms well.......I Strongly URGE--- Dragonwyck.... Most like Rebecca. xoxoxo and poor me....i must humble myself in shame by saying, "i am unaware Robert Schumann...DON'T FROWN....I'll go study and do my research.......but........L8R....zzzzzz sleep calls my name zzzzzz LOL
@MrShaun42088 ....SCHUMANN IS UNKNOWN TO YOU? where have you been living :] Debussy? Schubert? Berlioz? Wagner? Vivaldi? Johan Sebastian Bach?? Well if you know Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart, which I am most certain you do, then you should know the others as well my friend! :] Literature is not the only category in which one can have knowledge. Music as well is quite resourceful!
@Flownoms dear oh DEAR!--- MY oh MY-- i guess i live under A rock. wish i could come out and play in the sun. Schumann?.. composers?how did we arrive there? I adore classical music, although i can't name any of them. lets just strutt our stuff on the movie... musical compositions aren't my strong point. Especially from ages ago. No matter what age... they all are great. but..beauty is in the eye or EAR of the beholder. I will say... the musical score of Rebecca is Divine xoxoxo
@MrShaun42088 hahaha I'm sure you don't my friend :) Sorry! I haven't been on for a while, got a lot of work to do and I just passed with sucess my arts entrance exam. I'm not exactly sure how we got here haha. I like classical although baroque, romantic and renaissance are my favourite periods.
@Flownoms hey stranger...yeah. Like i said from the beginning, our chat would eventually dwindle to a stand still. I honestly thought you were just like, o-well...glad to hear from ya. I also said I LOVE TO GET MAIL.. so -- Whoo-Hoo!! I really have so much to say and ask. First let me just say that I'm glad to hear that your doing so well. Great Job on the Arts Exam Ace!! Secondly.. if you ever get some freetime, and your in the mood for some good reading.. please consider the books I mentioned
@Flownoms So funny--i never have enough room in these little boxes. i always have to delete something. Although, in this box i'm certain i'll have adequate space available. no-- i'm in 7th grade now. (I wish) wow... if only i could do it all again. I'm actually 27. so --where are you from? ---- yeah---that's all i got right now...my mentel energy is depleeting at an alarming rate ahhhhhhhhhhhh I gotta go take a nap zzzzzz LOL
skylur and flow--- calm down you two!!! dang... Not seeing rebecca is everything. It shows how powerful and in control of things she was. She still runs the house even though she's dead. her presence is everywhere, like a haunting spirit. Although... it is ALL Due to Mrs Danvers. She is the only one keeping her alive.
@MrShaun42088 haha don't worry I'm perfectly calm :P I gave my opinion, she gave hers, then I gave mine again. She proceeded to tell me to "fuck off" then I asked quite rudely If I may say so, why the hell that was, and then she told me once again to "fuck off" and that I am a "cunt". So. I'm calm :) But thanks for being concerned haha.
I don't like that we don't know her name..Joan, I mean. And that we can't even see a picture of Rebecca. Of course, this leads to endless imagining but still :/ I don't like it..
@Flownoms That was done deliberately to retain the strong image of Rebecca, a personality and presence that lingered even after her death. So the focus is always on Rebecca. I always pictured Hedy Lamarr as Rebecca. Closest to the description in the book. Face like a Botticelli angel, etc.
@TheSkylur44 ...Um, excuse me, but do you think I don't know that it is deliberate? It's by A.H., so of course he has amazing ideas and his own perspective of things and I clearly see how one could find it perfectly enticing that Rebecca's image is fortified by not being revealed. It's just my OPINION mate :P I'm not saying you have to agree. "I don't like..." I specifically wrote. Thanks for your opinion though. I respect it, bye :P
@TheSkylur44 If you have a life then why are you insulting teenagers. And if I'm a "cunt" then why do you think I'm worthy of your time? Go do something productive..
@TheSkylur44 It's also a little bizarre that you call me "rude" when you're sitting there telling my I'm an ugly cheap teenage cunt and that I should fuck off.
@TheSkylur44 okay you made your point you think "mate" is funny, let it go haha. can't we just end this discussion? its really pointless and it's just about a film honestly (:
@Flownoms Can't get into a long argument when both of us obviously love this movie. Since the first time I saw it many years ago I have been captivated by it, I think I read the book first. And I still love it all these years later. I've recently been re reading all of the du Maurier books I love, the last one was Julius, released originally as The Progress of Julius, a truly chilling account of a ruthless man, will give you the creeps. I wish they would make a movie out of it.
@TheSkylur44 Well, glad too see you appreciate things of good quality haha. I often wish books were made to movies, it's so exciting. But then again if the characters in the movie aren't as I imagined them I get a little bothered by it. but then again I respect the movie makers opinion and their point of view. Unlike you, I don't get angry when people have different point of views haha :)) I got a little offended by what you said earlier :/
@Flownoms I wasn't angry re your opposing POV, I got angry the way you spoke to me, specifically:
Um, excuse me, but do you think I don't know that it is deliberate? It's by A.H.,
Just didn't sit well, soudned rude and arrogant.
I respect most movie makers, but I think sometimes they get it totally wrong, like so many of Stephen King's books. And I wish they'd remake The Thornbirds and keep it truer to the book.
@TheSkylur44 Ok I'm sorry for starting it off rudely, I didn't mean to, I thought you were trying to tell me that my comment was useless by opposing my POV. But you seriously don't think that it's taking it a little to far saying "go fuck yourself" "rude" "arrogant" "cheap" "ugly" "teenage cunt" "now fuck off" "FUCK OFF". If you called me "teenage" you must be older am I right? Just be the mature person you are and tell me you didn't think I started it off nicely :P
@Flownoms The teenage comment had nothing to do withn age, more to do with the comment itself. If we continue this analysis we'll be fighting again so I am going to end it now. Suffice to say we had a disagreement and leave it at that. Thank you.
@TheSkylur44 Since you love dumarier... what is your take on my cousin rachel? i think dauphne definitely combined many elements of rachel and rebecca into the same character. Do you think she was guilty or innocent?
@MrShaun42088 Yes, some; both were very strong women, not enitrely above board in either case, Rebecca was one notch above Rachel in that she never killed anyone but there is no doubt if she had to she would not hesitate.
@TheSkylur44 There are many details that blend the two well- one for example
in Rachel, when Phillip saw Rachel at the christmas party he was amazed at her beauty.Although she was older, rumored to be in her mid to late thirties, she was indeed very beautiful. She had worn a black satin gown and a simple string of pearls round her neck
In Rebecca, maxim and mrs are driving, she declairs in a passion, that she wishes she were a woman of thirty, in a black satin gown and a string of pearls.
@TheSkylur44 part 2-- ran out of room, had to delete words in the previous one...
cont.... in Rebecca.... 30-black-pearls. She says she wants to be like that, but Maxim gets frustrated. Tall, dark, and beautiful was his already, in the form of Rebecca. Rebecca the clever, cunning, manipulative snake. Much like Rachel... she could please anyone. when she first came to Mr. Ashley's estate, it was run all by men. She transformed the house, and the servents all admired her and called her Madame
@MrShaun42088 Yes, both women had total command over servants, that was part of their makeup. The second Mrs deWinter, who is never named, spoke out of frustration when she thought Maxim was making light of her that day in the car when they were still in Monte Carlo. I was uneasy re Rebecca, her description, but Rachel I always loathed, from the very beginning.
@TheSkylur44 Well.. i know she was frustrated and wanted to be more upper class... but i'm saying, the author, i believe, crafted both in the same likeness. which to me is very cool. And if so.. we can see lots more of a rebecca's personality in rachel. I always wanted a prequal of the story, just so i could see rebecca. since i can't see her in the book Rebecca...i feel i can see and hear her in rachel's character. the reference to the control of servents was only to add to the argument. :)
@MrShaun42088 The main difference between the two is, Rachel was a bit more refined, more of a lady, albeit a murderer; Rebecca did things Maxim swore he'd never tell another living soul, so she must have been pretty depraved.
@TheSkylur44 well...YOU might as well add that Rachel was also very short, where as Rebecca was very tall. But what I was aiming for was the similarities in both characters. Both were women of foreign decent, well calculated, cunning, manipulative and deceptive.
well.... The 30-black-pearls reference was my main evidence for suggesting the two were crafted by the author in the same likeness. Your gonna make me bust out my books and search for more clues. wish you had some off the top of ur head
@MrShaun42088 I think you're seeing things that aren't really there; the two women were created by the same author and both given similar characteristics, so naturally there are going to be similarities. Just accept that and enjoy them.
@MrShaun42088 You are inordinately concerned with minutiae which detracts from the characters and the books. You really need to get help for that, it will wreck any enjoyment you could gain from books movies, etc. Also you have a very short fuse. Also you're a bit difficult to talk to. Three strikes, you're OUT! Have a nice day.
@TheSkylur44 no!!! I'm saying it ADDs to the BOOKS! Geez dude? I am trying to say...actually I've already said it. up up and away ago? let me get a quote..."....crafted both in the same likeness. which to me is very cool. And if so.. we can see lots more of a rebecca's personality in rachel. I always wanted a prequal of the story, just so i could see rebecca. since i can't see her in the book Rebecca...i feel i can see and hear her in rachel's character...." great how they thread together!
@TheSkylur44 And lastly.... I knew VERY well going into this... it could end badly. I saw the way you treated flownorms. But... since you were being civil and actually wanting to discuss something in which we both can agree upon favorably, i agreed to correspond.
well... now that that's over... i hope some good willed fan of Dumarier's comes along and actually sees what you apparently are too narrow minded to connect.
@MrShaun42088 I was being patient with you, extraordinarily so, because you were so obsessed with the idea of these charaters being similar, which is neither here nor there, and for a while it was interesting but as time went on I could see you were obsessed with it and that is always dangerous. Shows you're a bit off balance and that has been proven by your subsequent rudeness and lack of common sense. As foir being narrow minded, not at all, merely averse to those afflicted with anencephaly.
@TheSkylur44 no no no.... I was being extraordinarily patient with you! their similarities are neither here nor there??? you said yourself "..the two women were created by the same author and both given similar characteristics, so naturally there are going to be similarities...."
Her beau omitted something from the note he left her. The "L" word.
He signed it Maxim. No valediction.
What is one suppose to read into this omission?
Mulder25j 5 days ago
Are we suppose to 'read in between the lines' and deduce Mrs. Danvers was intimate with Rebecca?
Mulder25j 6 days ago
@Mulder25j
Possibly but I think Mrs Danvers was the devil's handmaiden, intimate to her former mistress' inner most secrets and loyal to a fault.

@BillyAndDeclanFan The only real difference is that in the book Maxim actually shoots Rebecca through the heart.

He does play the role well but doesn't hold a candle to Jeremy Brett.

I wish Maxim would stop being so whiney. "Happiness is something I know nothing about" Sheesh. Cut the shit and stop with the mellow dramatics! He is a hauntingly beautiful man and just carries himself so well. He plays that role too well. Makes you want to smack him.

2nd favorite-- My Cousin Rachel

@MrShaun42088 haha I love getting mail too. Ah so you like this? Nice to see someone appreciate something good once in a while. And you're very polite haha where do you come from?
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms Polite- try and convince some of these guys i met on another page. Wow..people be very crazy! I went to a death metal page (you know.. very loud and incoherent screaming)- hope you don't dig that stuff..but i happed to comment on how astounded i was to see how many people loved that music (i call it random bouts of percussive violence set to rythem) but whatever...of course haters came flocking to me. i have a compultion at answer comments-- and Q's-- I'm from Illinois and i <3 Dauphne
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 If by "dig" you mean "fancy/like" then no I don't really but I tend not to judge music because I hate making the artists feel bad even though I'm more of a Beatles person, Rock, even other stuff as long as I can understand what they're saying, and what they're saying is relevant.Well the comments here are the first hate comments I've gotten really. Illinois? Nice place? We should maybe get an inbox sometime so we don't piss people off haha
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms Comments are a liberty and i try to use that power when i can.Not that i wanna aim for rivalry when i post something, it's just my opinion.Like i said i like to comment, no matter how trivial. An inbox? I recon our little communion will dwindle to a standstill not too soon.Things usually workout that way. But, as long as you comment--i'l be sure to give the last word. By the bye- was that you in the video with the crazy shades and mustashes of different colors?TRUE? VERY AMUSING ha ha
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 Ah, I'm not really fond of rivalry so I tend not to get into debates too often..Haha and I like having the last word so I doubt that! HAHA yes that's me. I can't tell if you're being sarcastic? Stop watching them they're from so long ago haha
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms I'm completely sincere. LiveLoveLaugh--hahahaha Stop watching them?. Now i can't tell if that was a command i'm suposed to take seriously? I won't ofcourse. Unless you persist. MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 Hahaha no it isn't a command I just feel pretty stupid when I re-watch them. @Flownoms So funny--i never have enough room in these little boxes. i always have to delete something. Although, in this box i'm certain i'll have adequate space available. no-- i'm in 7th grade now.

MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 I think you took it the wrong way: you said "mental energy" , associated it with a young mind as I have myself haha it's a good thing. You confuse me? Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms i'm not too sure on how stimulating my conversation is to a mind like yours, or anyones for that matter. @Flownoms ha ha.. running out of room in my box.... how this story plays such a central role in your daily affairs. what your doing in life and career to be discussing and writing about this so much with peers and superiors. MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 hahaha yes I was a little "like wtf??". Career? You don't even know how old I am! @Flownoms i can't quite recall... i think you told skylurr you were a teenager right?
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 Yes, I am. Often told I seem older. I haven't quite figured out if it bothers or pleases me. Either way, I'm not exactly content with my age and I'd rather be older. Then again I'd rather be a carefree teen than a responsible mature adult. I'll remain a child at heart when I grow up. Or maybe I've already acquired the mental maturity that I'm supposed to have throughout my life? Is that sad? Or good? Who knows..

Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms I definetly would have pinned you as being older than your teens.I hear that women mature faster than men, would you believe that? (being a woman, how could you oppose?)(i say that, only because the typical woman always claims men are pigs and women should pretty much rule the world, if they don't already). i always wanted to stay young, like peter pan, and never mature, become an adult and take responsibilities. time will never marr the purity of my heart. wisdom will bring Undrstndng
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 well, pretty much any guy I've ever been with has been 2 or 3 years older than me, guess that says a little haha. I did hear that girls mature faster, then again I don't think guys are pigs. I think that most pigs are guys. That's all haha. And women shouldn't rule the world because ruling the world means ruling everything else and if it's the woman doing all the work in bed, then somethings wrong haha.
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms i think women pretty much rule the world anyways.... men are slaves for their women. we will go to war for a woman. ... Women have definetly Tamed the wild beast in man. Conformed us to accept neat little ties, clean little houses, nurturing and tenderness, hand holding, ect... a man will crumble to the almightly power of the female. (and i call myself a man....geez...hope ya don't think too little of me ha ha ha) just being fair---- (p.s. most pigs are men ha ha ha ha-- your so fun!)
MrShaun42088 11 months ago

Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms I went back to your first statement of ----why don't you know the character's (joan) name?? Did you read the book? (just curious)-- i absolutely love it. so many elements make it great.
I rather think the author was quite clever in writing the whole story (and there's LOTs of conversation) without once having to actually say her name specifically. always alluded...madem, miss, mrs, -you! (Vanharper). Also gives the reader the liberty to romance over any name of their choosing. IMO
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 I read the book. Skipped parts at times, but as far as my recollection goes, I have no memory of the new mrs.de winters name being mentioned anywhere.
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms skipped?? o my... it is a bit elaborate at times... the beginning when she describes all the plants growing along the drive and encompassing the house. The rooms, furnishings, conversations, ect.
I'm a big cheat-- I enjoyed the Audio Book. Soooooo goood. The woman who narrates it has the perfect shy, innocent, and breathless hesitating tone. so like Joan Fontaine. And.. i plow through that book fast on audio. Like a long movie in my head. I hope you try it sometime. Especially Rebecca
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 Elaborate yes, yet it remains a nice kind of elaborate which takes me a long time to get bored of. But at my age, enough is enough especially concerning descriptive paragraphs that do nothing but depict...and depict and depict....
I'm not fond of cheating, but yes Audios are nice haha. I force myself to start a long and boring book and then I tend to quite like the plot in the end and the outcome etc.. :]
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms I MOSTLY WONDER-- if your getting bored with talking about this Damn movie!!! Sorry. So many questions and so much to discuss. but..only to True fan would have the patience to digress over such trivial topics. If you wish....you could simply say that it is indeed a big world and that you don't intend to stay here for the rest of your life. time to be moving along. bye.(of course that wasn't very simple, and it's complex-- it seems to me that your just too good of a person to say adieu
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 It's not a trivial topic for a fan!!!
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms as to her name again-- in the book, in the begining stages of her and maxim's courting, she was sent flowers with a note attached. she had discovered that they were from maxim and stated "atleast he had managed to spell her name right"--- so it's obviously not a simple name like anne, or marie. i like to name her Dauphne (De Winter). First, because if it wasn't for this book, i'd never had spelled that correctly. 2nd- it just pays tribute to the author. Prbly2Fncy4herTho
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 Fancy or not, she has no name and it won't change so I might as well get over my own bothers haha. Another thing though, before I stop complaining, is that I'm getting a little tired of writing "The new Mrs. De Winter" or "Max De Winter's new wife"..If her name was "Dauphne", my life would be simpler, considering I talk/write a lot about this book and movie to my peers and superiors.
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms OMG-- did you get all my Q's? I seriously sent you like 5. I know! Crazy!! This little box was not doing it for me! I really expected more than just the 1 responce. i gave you many questions and topics to discuss. And frankly, if you don't mind, i would like to hear about your thoughts. 1 in particular dealt with the topic of our communion. others were intriguing aswell.... i value your opinions. Sincerly
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 haha my dear sir, I have replied to the majority, trying my best to give my utmost sincere opinions.
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms did you ever give her a name?-- how did you like my power of logical deduction on the name. would you agree that "he spelled it right" means it must be complicated and definetly not simple right??
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 Yes, I agree with your deduction. It seems like you've really thought it through, I'm quite impressed actually. Yes, I did give her a name, several actually. I thought of Phoebe for example, because it's often spelt incorrectly, especially by youngsters. Phoebe De Winter. Nice? In chapter 4 page 26, Maxim tells her that she has a very lovely and peculiar name. I also thought about it a little there.
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms i'm certain your right. Phoebe--geez-- i still can't spell that- i gotta look at yours- LOL You even got the page down! Dang--- haha (lovely and peculiar) --phoebe is definetly peculiar.. (i'm not sure either of our picks are a Dumarier match made in heaven LOL)..
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 We better not tell Daphne Dumaurier that we're trying to solve her mystery! I guess we shouldn't try to solve this, it's supposed to be unknown. Oh actually I just checked it's "lovely and unusual" sorry I wasn't reading before. I think Phoebe suits her well. And Ms.Danvers still scares me a shit load. I would qualify her as a "rebeccosexual" or whatever you want to call that strange necrophilia-attraction she feels for her dead and beloved mistress D:
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms It was a very intersting situation for Danvers. Rebecca was dead- a year (right?), manderlay was beautified by R, (so here presence was NEVER forgotten, she was a maternal figure to R, she believed R had drown and believed maxim mourned for her. Seeing the New Mrs. drove Mrs. Danvers crazy! OMG- it was my little sweet Dauphne's fault. she drove her to it. (how ironic).. she would have kept on maintaining the order of things, just as they always had been,-- till the end
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 haha I like your analytical mind it's very intriguing. Do continue to analyze this piece of literature, it's quite entertaining :] Are there any other classics you're fond of? And I can't imagine the poor Youtubers scrolling down just to see endless pages of us rambling on about things that could seem utterly trivial to them haha oh dear..
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms ha ha ha... like i said.... our own little bottle of memories. forever on these pages. so funny... LOL
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@Flownoms Indeed... I am fond of many titles. But for the poor Youtubers on this page--I'll offer them these Great Titles.
Recomended: 'Mrs. Dewinter' --the continuation of Rebecca, as well as --'Rebecca's Tale'
Warning: you youtubers who are somehow seeing this, under the pile of literature Flow and I have co-written. I must say, about those particular 2 stories, much like Pandora and her box.. once you read them, you can NEVER erase it from your memory. Lots of Shocking Twists and Suprises
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 oh yes I see that you have said that before (referring to pandora's box). Quite, quite. People used to call me Flora Pandora, it got tiresome. And the youtubers will just have the pleasure of reading such magnificently written deductions, analyzations and conclusions haha
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms Definetly had to warn them, incase THEy didn't see my previous precaution. :).... ha ha ha Flora Pandora? wonder what that's supposed to imply? (no really....i wonder????)
I'm uncertain... did you have a chance to indulge in those tales? The one i'm looking forward to hearing about is your review on Dragonwyck. Great story...Big haunted, gothic mansion, a shy, innocent heroin, the dark mysterious master of the house. Suspence, romance and mystery abound.
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 well..it doesn't imply anything. Guys would just ask me "can I open your box baby?". I'm not going to lie, for 2 days it was pretty hot. Then it got really creepy.
I have discussed it without reading it. Weird? but yes I have. I know not much about it though except what you just said and a few other things but they remain trivial.
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms are you referring to dragonwyck? never read? oh.....for shame... :(
OR JOY-- which means, you'll Totally enjoy it for the first time!!! what an experience! This first time is most often the best. I remember the first time i read rebecca (okay....listened to it, cuz i cheat haha)-- oh, if only we could start over. My books and me have a special relationship. we have become ONE. our souls are together in an unbreakable bond! forever. have you heard of --'the 13th Tale'?
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 Yes I am referring to Dragonwyck. Hahahaha I love your personality it's sooo...xD Eusebius to Florestan like. But in moderate quantities and the at the right times. I trust you know Robert Schumann? Not to be confused with Schubert!
Haha I gotta say I laughed when you said "the first time!!! what an experience! the first time is most often the best."
Yes, it seems like I must read Dragonwyck and the 13th Tale then :)
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms well.......I Strongly URGE--- Dragonwyck.... Most like Rebecca. xoxoxo and poor me....i must humble myself in shame by saying, "i am unaware Robert Schumann...DON'T FROWN....I'll go study and do my research.......but........L8R....zzzzzz sleep calls my name zzzzzz LOL
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 ....SCHUMANN IS UNKNOWN TO YOU? where have you been living :] Debussy? Schubert? Berlioz? Wagner? Vivaldi? Johan Sebastian Bach?? Well if you know Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart, which I am most certain you do, then you should know the others as well my friend! :] Literature is not the only category in which one can have knowledge. Music as well is quite resourceful!
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms dear oh DEAR!--- MY oh MY-- i guess i live under A rock. wish i could come out and play in the sun. Schumann?.. composers?how did we arrive there? I adore classical music, although i can't name any of them. lets just strutt our stuff on the movie... musical compositions aren't my strong point. Especially from ages ago. No matter what age... they all are great. but..beauty is in the eye or EAR of the beholder. I will say... the musical score of Rebecca is Divine xoxoxo
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 hahaha I'm sure you don't my friend :) Sorry! I haven't been on for a while, got a lot of work to do and I just passed with sucess my arts entrance exam. I'm not exactly sure how we got here haha. I like classical although baroque, romantic and renaissance are my favourite periods.
Flownoms 10 months ago

MrShaun42088 11 months ago
skylur and flow--- calm down you two!!! dang... Not seeing rebecca is everything. It shows how powerful and in control of things she was. She still runs the house even though she's dead. her presence is everywhere, like a haunting spirit. Although... it is ALL Due to Mrs Danvers. She is the only one keeping her alive.
MrShaun42088 1 year ago
@MrShaun42088 haha don't worry I'm perfectly calm :P I gave my opinion, she gave hers, then I gave mine again. She proceeded to tell me to "fuck off" then I asked quite rudely If I may say so, why the hell that was, and then she told me once again to "fuck off" and that I am a "cunt". So. I'm calm :) But thanks for being concerned haha.

the most beautiful room in the house xoxoxo
MrShaun42088 1 year ago
I don't like that we don't know her name..Joan, I mean. And that we can't even see a picture of Rebecca. Of course, this leads to endless imagining but still :/ I don't like it..
Flownoms 1 year ago
@Flownoms That was done deliberately to retain the strong image of Rebecca, a personality and presence that lingered even after her death. So the focus is always on Rebecca. I always pictured Hedy Lamarr as Rebecca. Closest to the description in the book. Face like a Botticelli angel, etc.
TheSkylur44 1 year ago
@TheSkylur44 ...Um, excuse me, but do you think I don't know that it is deliberate? It's by A.H., so of course he has amazing ideas and his own perspective of things and I clearly see how one could find it perfectly enticing that Rebecca's image is fortified by not being revealed. It's just my OPINION mate :P I'm not saying you have to agree. "I don't like..." I specifically wrote. Thanks for your opinion though. I respect it, bye :P
Flownoms 1 year ago
@Flownoms Go fuck yourself, "mate."
TheSkylur44 1 year ago
@TheSkylur44 the hell is your problem? I just fucking said I respected you lol? get a life man..
Flownoms 1 year ago
@Flownoms I have a life and I am not a man. You're just an arrogant rude cheap ugly teenage cunt, "man." Now fuck off.
TheSkylur44 1 year ago
@TheSkylur44 If you have a life then why are you insulting teenagers. And if I'm a "cunt" then why do you think I'm worthy of your time? Go do something productive..
Flownoms 11 months ago
@TheSkylur44 It's also a little bizarre that you call me "rude" when you're sitting there telling my I'm an ugly cheap teenage cunt and that I should fuck off.
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms So take my advice "mate." FUCK OFF. Get it now or is it too much information coming in all at once? (0: BYE
TheSkylur44 11 months ago
@TheSkylur44 okay you made your point you think "mate" is funny, let it go haha. can't we just end this discussion? its really pointless and it's just about a film honestly (:
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms Fair enough and good point. Let's let it go. (0:
TheSkylur44 11 months ago
@TheSkylur44 :) glad you agree
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms Can't get into a long argument when both of us obviously love this movie. Since the first time I saw it many years ago I have been captivated by it, I think I read the book first. And I still love it all these years later. I've recently been re reading all of the du Maurier books I love, the last one was Julius, released originally as The Progress of Julius, a truly chilling account of a ruthless man, will give you the creeps. I wish they would make a movie out of it.
TheSkylur44 11 months ago
@TheSkylur44 Well, glad too see you appreciate things of good quality haha. I often wish books were made to movies, it's so exciting. But then again if the characters in the movie aren't as I imagined them I get a little bothered by it. but then again I respect the movie makers opinion and their point of view. Unlike you, I don't get angry when people have different point of views haha :)) I got a little offended by what you said earlier :/
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms I wasn't angry re your opposing POV, I got angry the way you spoke to me, specifically:
Um, excuse me, but do you think I don't know that it is deliberate? It's by A.H.,
Just didn't sit well, soudned rude and arrogant.
I respect most movie makers, but I think sometimes they get it totally wrong, like so many of Stephen King's books. And I wish they'd remake The Thornbirds and keep it truer to the book.
TheSkylur44 11 months ago
@TheSkylur44 Ok I'm sorry for starting it off rudely, I didn't mean to, I thought you were trying to tell me that my comment was useless by opposing my POV. But you seriously don't think that it's taking it a little to far saying "go fuck yourself" "rude" "arrogant" "cheap" "ugly" "teenage cunt" "now fuck off" "FUCK OFF". If you called me "teenage" you must be older am I right? Just be the mature person you are and tell me you didn't think I started it off nicely :P
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms The teenage comment had nothing to do withn age, more to do with the comment itself. If we continue this analysis we'll be fighting again so I am going to end it now. Suffice to say we had a disagreement and leave it at that. Thank you.
TheSkylur44 11 months ago
@TheSkylur44 haha cause you won't admit you were wrong for calling a stranger names :) its fine. its my fault for starting it off bad. toodles.
Flownoms 11 months ago
@Flownoms he did say you were cheap--and ugly--- where does that come from?? i figure he's never seen your videos ha ha ha
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@TheSkylur44 Since you love dumarier... what is your take on my cousin rachel? i think dauphne definitely combined many elements of rachel and rebecca into the same character. Do you think she was guilty or innocent?
MrShaun42088 11 months ago
@MrShaun42088 I ALWAYS thought she was guilty. Always. Gut feeling and I've read the book several times.
TheSkylur44 10 months ago
@TheSkylur44 you've read My cousin Rachel a number of times? My mother is convinced she is guilty also...
Just love how dumarier did that. do you think rachel and rebecca had similarities?
MrShaun42088 9 months ago
@MrShaun42088 Yes, some; both were very strong women, not enitrely above board in either case, Rebecca was one notch above Rachel in that she never killed anyone but there is no doubt if she had to she would not hesitate.
TheSkylur44 9 months ago
@TheSkylur44 There are many details that blend the two well- one for example
in Rachel, when Phillip saw Rachel at the christmas party he was amazed at her beauty.Although she was older, rumored to be in her mid to late thirties, she was indeed very beautiful. She had worn a black satin gown and a simple string of pearls round her neck
In Rebecca, maxim and mrs are driving, she declairs in a passion, that she wishes she were a woman of thirty, in a black satin gown and a string of pearls.
MrShaun42088 9 months ago
@TheSkylur44 part 2-- ran out of room, had to delete words in the previous one...
cont.... in Rebecca.... 30-black-pearls. She says she wants to be like that, but Maxim gets frustrated. Tall, dark, and beautiful was his already, in the form of Rebecca. Rebecca the clever, cunning, manipulative snake. Much like Rachel... she could please anyone. when she first came to Mr. Ashley's estate, it was run all by men. She transformed the house, and the servents all admired her and called her Madame
MrShaun42088 9 months ago
@MrShaun42088 Yes, both women had total command over servants, that was part of their makeup. The second Mrs deWinter, who is never named, spoke out of frustration when she thought Maxim was making light of her that day in the car when they were still in Monte Carlo. I was uneasy re Rebecca, her description, but Rachel I always loathed, from the very beginning.
TheSkylur44 9 months ago
@TheSkylur44 Well.. i know she was frustrated and wanted to be more upper class... but i'm saying, the author, i believe, crafted both in the same likeness. which to me is very cool. And if so.. we can see lots more of a rebecca's personality in rachel. I always wanted a prequal of the story, just so i could see rebecca. since i can't see her in the book Rebecca...i feel i can see and hear her in rachel's character. the reference to the control of servents was only to add to the argument. :)
MrShaun42088 9 months ago
@MrShaun42088 The main difference between the two is, Rachel was a bit more refined, more of a lady, albeit a murderer; Rebecca did things Maxim swore he'd never tell another living soul, so she must have been pretty depraved.
TheSkylur44 9 months ago
@TheSkylur44 well...YOU might as well add that Rachel was also very short, where as Rebecca was very tall. But what I was aiming for was the similarities in both characters. Both were women of foreign decent, well calculated, cunning, manipulative and deceptive.
well.... The 30-black-pearls reference was my main evidence for suggesting the two were crafted by the author in the same likeness. Your gonna make me bust out my books and search for more clues. wish you had some off the top of ur head
MrShaun42088 9 months ago
@MrShaun42088 I think you're seeing things that aren't really there; the two women were created by the same author and both given similar characteristics, so naturally there are going to be similarities. Just accept that and enjoy them.
TheSkylur44 9 months ago
@TheSkylur44 I just new you were going to turn this..... Fine...... have it your way. good bye
MrShaun42088 9 months ago
@MrShaun42088 You are inordinately concerned with minutiae which detracts from the characters and the books. You really need to get help for that, it will wreck any enjoyment you could gain from books movies, etc. Also you have a very short fuse. Also you're a bit difficult to talk to. Three strikes, you're OUT! Have a nice day.
TheSkylur44 9 months ago
@TheSkylur44 no!!! I'm saying it ADDs to the BOOKS! Geez dude? I am trying to say...actually I've already said it. up up and away ago? let me get a quote..."....crafted both in the same likeness. which to me is very cool. And if so.. we can see lots more of a rebecca's personality in rachel. I always wanted a prequal of the story, just so i could see rebecca. since i can't see her in the book Rebecca...i feel i can see and hear her in rachel's character...." great how they thread together!
MrShaun42088 9 months ago
@TheSkylur44 And lastly.... I knew VERY well going into this... it could end badly. I saw the way you treated flownorms. But... since you were being civil and actually wanting to discuss something in which we both can agree upon favorably, i agreed to correspond.
well... now that that's over... i hope some good willed fan of Dumarier's comes along and actually sees what you apparently are too narrow minded to connect.
MrShaun42088 9 months ago
@MrShaun42088 I was being patient with you, extraordinarily so, because you were so obsessed with the idea of these charaters being similar, which is neither here nor there, and for a while it was interesting but as time went on I could see you were obsessed with it and that is always dangerous. Shows you're a bit off balance and that has been proven by your subsequent rudeness and lack of common sense. As foir being narrow minded, not at all, merely averse to those afflicted with anencephaly.
TheSkylur44 9 months ago
@TheSkylur44 no no no.... I was being extraordinarily patient with you! their similarities are neither here nor there??? you said yourself "..the two women were created by the same author and both given similar characteristics, so naturally there are going to be similarities...."
and you see
