#1: Academy cadets will not do hands on labour. I was there, I know. #2: Backshop Avionics is as cake as you can get. Flightline avionics is the tough part. To be honest I'd give my left nut to be backshop. And finally, #3: Pretty funny vid. Keep it up.
i am taking my asvab for the AF in 2 days! im interested in Air traffic control, you know anything about that? i've read so much, but i havent heard anyone IN the air force enlighten me on it..
the 88th air base wing here at wright patt works with atc, I dont know much about it but that is a good feild to get into because you can work as a enlisted pay grade, there are things you need to get before tech school but you train for 72 days and I know that here we take skill levels 3,5,7,9. I would suggest that you go talk to a AF recruiter and get the right information and figure out what you have to do, but like I said you dont need a degree to have this job, hope that helped!!!
Its a video made for air force recruiting, so does it mean its biased? Because that looked like a pretty chill experience. im wondering if its really like that
nah, i made this just for fun, it's not really serious at all. it can be chilled but also can get really busy at times, depends where you're posted, and how often the aircraft are breaking down etc. this is only the repair bays, the actual hangar-floor aircraft work is alot different and varied.
8 hours a day usualy, or if you're posted to a squadron that does night flying you'll work nightshifts some weeks. yep, once you've finished work, you can do whatever you like. you don't have to live on Base either.
Cool, thanks. what about weekends? do you work at all? is it true you can go anywhere as long as you're back to work on monday? sorry to ask so many questions, i just wanna be informed before i go in. thanks
usually no work on weekends unless there's flying on the weekend, which is unusual. yep, as long as you turn up for work on Monday! you can live off base anytime as long as you're not under training, in which case they insist you live in barracks. remember this is for the New Zealand Air Force..
Another vid ruined by shit music.

Another thing =)
If you decide to live off base, do you have to have a good reason or do they just grant it to you if you just ask for it?

It's all done in Woodbourne, with a 2 year stint in between junior and senior course at either Ohakea or Auckland for experience
drewmeister3000 2 years ago
I was wondering after basic in Woodbourne, where do you do the rest of the avionics training? Is it in Ohakea or Whenupai or neither?
