@Pooternackle5 The north was not a republic, but a Dictatorship where Lincoln assummed all powers and suspended civil liberties. The south had a right to secede as did any state, since it is a VOLUNTARY union.
You've got to think imagine these men that set up the Fed and all the old framework for the collapse how they knew that they weren’t going to see it unfold and they still did it...
Jefferson is so the emo one in this mini series...he's always moping about, making lachrymose statements about the futility of the revolution...someone get that man an anti-depressant!
@noyouaintgettingit I was sort of making a joke about his portrayal in this mini-series more than anything...and as for 'best president'? That is highly, HIGHLY subjective. He's certainly among the best, and I'll always give him mucho credit for teh Louisiana Purchase.
@Pooternackle5 Ok both sides had tyrannical governments. But wait, why can't states secede now?

My ancestors set up the first Bank of the United States. They also wrote the Constitution.
"I was a soldier, so that my son could be a farmer, so his son could become a poet" ~~ Thomas Jefferson
I am one of the many poets in the family-- my poetry is different.

the founding fathers didn't set up the federal reserve, that was done by the Federal Reserve Act in 1913. It was Wilson who signed the bill.
