I can't see why they cancelled dallas. It was a good show. still is. Minus the fact ray, sueEllen, Jenna, pam and donna left and miss ellie did not appear this season, this show was good. I can see dallas having a season 14 and 15.
I used to love the show, but after they broke up Bobby and Pam and Ray and Donna, that totally ruined it for me. Far too many new characters that I didn't care for, so I stopped watching after the 7th season or so. Don't get me going as to why, otherwise you'll never shut me up. Just suffice it to say that they ruined a perfectly good show by breaking up the best two couples!!
@pettyofficer30 well i'm from the UK....it was a very popular show over here back in 1980's -90's and was on the BBC1 (main state channel) - but how they will continue it - is beyond me - most of the actors they will be calling their agents from the graveside - some of the actors will be drawing their pension let alone their actors equity card!! And if they will be introducing younger airbrushed models - it will almost certainly destroy the reputation it had - so no idea how it will work?
If Larry had never turned to alcohol (1983 and beyond...) - he'd still be dominating this show. When he was a 'cad' and irritated the livin' hell out of you....the show was so far above anything broadcasted, it was almost worthy of Oscars. He improvised and knew when to smile as the camera panned-off...but when you're trashed day-in and day-out...unfortunately, you lose your grip.
Yes, that may be true; however, after Jim Davis passed away and Larry's contract got renewed - he started slammin' champagne like it was 7-Up. I worked in post-production graphics at Lorimar during those years and heard about it first hand. He's the greatest villian in TV history, but his "spoiled-sense of entilement" disappeared after 1983, and eventually his tyrancy just wasn't enough for the viewers.
Shows just aren't the same without real introductions like this... I'd have a sense of pride if I were on a show where it showed my picture, with my name at every beginning and a song everyone would remember.
@DarkKnight279 that sux oh GOD they are gonna mess it up....I cant believe cathy podewell was in this loved her in ngiht of the demons, and sasha mitchell was here too? jeez i was too young for this stuff, lol
Well, after Dallas, Larry handed over the throne to David Hasselhoff to be the 2 most viewed tv series of all times. Still, in 2011. Thats pretty amazing.
Just asking…from 1978 to 1991, this show ran. The opening montage never changed a whole lot. It has always, though, shown the late Texas Stadium(Dallas Cowboys). Did the Ewings or anyone else for that matter ever go to a football game there?
@tfran1994 I don't remember them going to a game but J.R. did once rent out Texas Stadium to take Mandy Winger to dinner in one of the suites in an effort to impress her (and she was certainly worth impressing)
@tfran1994 I don't remember actually seeing anyone attend a game, but there was an episode in either season 12 or 13 where Bobby and Christopher were leaving Southfork to go to a game.
TNT is bringing back Dallas. Larry Hagman, and Patrick Duffy will be in it again too. I lived there for 3 years. It's a beautiful city. But I hate the Cowboys lol. I'm from Houston originally so it's natural for me to not like the cowboys. :)
Ok I stopped watching Dallas in the 80s and just relized that Sasha Mitchell was on for two seasons. If you didn't know he was also on the show Step by Step with Patrick Duffy.
friday night at 9 on CBS will never be this good again. after this show jumped the shark it came all the way down to be a lot better than anything else
My only gripe about the final season was why did they leave Sheree J. Wilson on the intro after her character April Ewing was killed off. Her kidnapping and eventual death had to be one of the worst storylines written in the final season.
I hear they are considering bringing back Dallas. Maybe for it to be successful they should base it on how the majority of people actually live in Dallas as BorderCityBandit comments. We did get a hint of the otherside at times in Dallas with some classic bar room brawls!
I love how in the 90s they had to add lots of explosions, helicopters, offshore oil rigs, and tons of new faces to the intro... as if to show that Ewing Oil was keeping up with the times. Hate the flashes of the characters at the beginning though. Still, the best theme song ever!
my on gripe about the show ,is it gave people the wrong idea about Texans, probably some foreigners thought us Texans ,lived this way, the select few in real life do live this way, most dont .other than that ,Great show ,
@BorderCityBandit Actually I think it gave people an idea about americans in general, When a professor of mine went to japan during the 80's everyone asked if she had a pool and lived with her entire family in a mansion lol
i was never born or even thought of when the last season aired but i really want to see Dallas. It looks more interesting then dynasty because Joan Collins is the only great thing from Dynasty
In your response to Dallas, I was born in 1978, as a kid I remember on Friday night's bedtime was when Dallas started. You can get the entire series at best buy man. I did at it's great quality.
Hahaha... I used to watch this when I was a kid. It was aired at high noon in Indonesia before the stupid TV station removed it to midnight!!! Love Dallas... and I like Pamela dan Bobby very much. I always thought that they were the soul of Dallas.
they do that because of the story line continuation....she still some what involved and due to actors guild policies she has to be credited...has to do with residuals pay and stuff
Season Twelve's Version three credits I think are the best one, because it seemed more exiting and plus if you listen closely to the melody it repeats slightly.
Today is not the OIL from Dallas, but Afghanistan and Iraq

The combination of
1. Denial...hicks tend to be the last dis-believers.
2. The history of oil in the ground, in Texas.
3. The history of Texas politicians being in the pocket of the oil industry...including the Middle East.
4. The great distances Texans tend to drive.
5. The lack of clean nuclear power in the state.
6. 100% of Tx electricity being generated by coal plant...the dirtiest fuel there is.
Historically, Texans are the biggest carbon polluters, ever on the face of the planet.
