Amazingly talented even back then Eddie!!! Lotta soul in it!!
NOW, you're simply absolutely all-around amazing!!! Your phrasing and sound is just unbelievable. I never thought anybody could actually play like Jimi, but there are some great guitar players out there and Eddie; you're certainly among the very best of them imho!!!
Hell yea!!! 25 yrs to the date that Jimi performed that set. I must say that was OUTSTANDING! Jimi would be so proud of you Eddie..Thanx to my friend "T" for the share..Much respect, Trish
Been awhile buddy. Hope all is well with you. Im loving this , sounds like to have the correct mods on the guitar, rocking band, did you happened to see Jimicolors in a concert hall recently pretty huh? Well i hope you know i posted this on my facebook for my friends over there. Proud to be a friend of yours Eddie :-) - ttyl. Best Regards- Thomas
I was listening to the Woodstock concert to start my day...VC is so awesome, love the ending jamming just before he plays SSB, especially...peace and happiness, yeah...happiness!
Ahah I'm looking the section from voodoo child to villanova junction everyday to don't forget how insane was Jimi and how he can pull all sorts of feelings from just 6 strings , now I'll get time to look at yours :p ! Have you ever covered the Woodstock Improvisation ?
Jimi is such a far out player and an incredible inspiration to me...yes, I have a cover of what was first called the Woodstock Improvisation on the original Woodstock soundtrack (later know as Villanova Junction).
Im Getting Old Eddie!!!LOL!!!!That ... I Was driven up to Woodstock by OLDER Friends..2 couples in the 20s!!! I Guess theyre getting old Too!....LOL!!!
Eddie thanks for sharing this! I met Jimi in 68 in London and he was totally about going with the moment as you know. He would have been groovin on your performance! Maybe a little more use of the tongue and some phalic thrusts. Time to buy that Marshall half stack! While you at an Octavia?
So cool of you to comment, friend! left the Marshall stack and octavia at home this night... very cool that you got to meet Jimi, what a great life-moment...the closest I got was to stand right in front of him while he played his last home town show at Sicks Stadioum, Seattle on July 26, 1970
Geez. You saw his last show in Seattle?! That's one monumental experience there EG. And then, less than two months later you heard the news?! That's an incredible story all in itself. It shows the logic behind your passion for keeping his music alive...which you do extremely well...especially at the 5:00mark in this vid. Up till now, I didn't even realize Jimi did many concerts in 1970 (exept for Rainbow Bridge). But, to be there for his last hometown concert...WOW! Destiny sure plays a role.
I slid a E7 form on the A, D, G strings from the 7th fret up an octave with the high B and E strings ringing open. That where the feedback at that point happens.
The 1st issue of the Marshall Bluesbreaker is my fav pedal for adding a Marshall tone with Fender amps, usually kicked on for leads but sometimes on for the song. I used a Boss CE-2 chorus that night as I did not have a univibe, an Italian Vox Crybaby, and possibly a Roger Mayer Axis fuzz. very impressive! This is a very hard song to cover. Weeks of practice and I still couldn't ever get it down :P
sonic13 4 years ago
nice tone, if you don't mind telling me, what pedals do you generally use to get that hendrix tone?
sysphus13 4 years ago
The 1st issue of the Marshall Bluesbreaker is my fav pedal for adding a Marshall tone with Fender amps, usually kicked on for leads but sometimes on for the song. I used a Boss CE-2 chorus that night as I did not have a univibe, an Italian Vox Crybaby, and possibly a Roger Mayer Axis fuzz. The amp was probably set to around 4-5 as the club did not want the volume too loud. I was working to get the sustain and feedback you hear.
