This is a good thing you're doing sharing your experience. It's important for celebrities to let the world know that normal people get mental illness too. I have a similar video on my channel.
Those of you with comments about excuses, clearly don't know anything about mental illness or disorders. more people are impacted this disorder then schizophrenia or bi-polar disorder, and when people get the help they need, they have a tremendous level of recovery and success. Instead of criticism, maybe educate yourself about the struggle that others deal with and perhaps there is a way to help others.
WHY ARE YOU FAGGOTS OBSESSED WITH MEN THAT MAKE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WHILE YOU SIT AT HOME AND BE BROKE? EVEN WORSE YOU SPORT THEYRE NAMES ON YOUR BACK WHICH MAKES YOU THEIR BITCHES . GOD DAMN FOURTY YEAR OLD VIRGIN LOOKING ASSES GET A JOB A GIRLFRIEND AND QUIT JAGGING YOUR DICKS TO THESE SELF PROCLAIMED GODS OF SPORTS
Since his incidents, Marshall has been having one of his worst years of his careers and has gotten into a verbal altercation with another teammate. he is a ticking timebomb and I cant wait till Miami deals him.
@logansGT just because somebody makes millions doesn't mean they can't have personal problems. In fact you don't have any say because it is THEIR life.
@logansGT its not about HIM him him, your psychotic for thinking this. BPD is a personality disorder. its not like its bi-polar but, Whats money to a man without his Peace of Mind and his Happiness.
@Brodcastb0t Blah blah blah - keep making excuses for spoiled brats like Marshall.
Meanwhile, back on earth.....he wouldn't be having such a difficult time if someone had adjusted his f 'ing attitude a long time ago instead of legitimizing it with a fancy medical term.
@jamieblond1 i think hes doing alright.. making millions, playing the sport he loves, winning pro bowl MVP while youre doing what? sitting on the internet? haha good one mate
Brandon Marshall, my favorite athlete ever.. your my role model bro, Your ability's on the field and your personality off of it! Your doing a great job and Dolphin Nation is behind..... nahhh MARSHALL NATION is behind all the way!!!
LIKE SO BRANDON CAN SEE THAT WE ARE ALL BEHIND HIM!
Thank you Brandon for all you've done for people with BPD especially for men like myself who have BPD, you've made life so much easier for us. You are my hero. I hope other well known people come out and say they too have BPD!
Brandon's "coming out" about BPD happened just two weeks after my own diagnosis. I can't tell you how much it means to see that I'm not alone in this. I too am determined to retrain my brain to beat the beast within.
I am so glad that he came forth to let know people about BPD. My daughter was at 3 East (adolescent BPD unit) at McLean Hospital two years ago for 6 weeks . It gave her some really necessary skills. It's a rough, rough road and I wish Brandon the best. Again, it is so valuable when someone is forthcoming about the mental illness which they have. The world needs to be a more educated and accepting place for all.
Thank you for doing this. Bipolar and BPD m'self, and just finally starting to deal with it. Your coming out will help. If people had been more public 30+ years ago, maybe I wouldn't be where I am now. So thank you. Thank you so much.
Please, people, if you suspect you have something going on, see a professional, don't self-diagnose. I know, easier said than done.
I am inspired and hope he holds to his commitment to keep working on facing his challenges and inspiring others to do the same. I looked forward to seeing his documentary to be educated and learn.
"DAMN" I suffer from Bi Polar Disorder which is similar so I can relate. I can imagine how difficult it is for you being in the public eye where to on lookers it seems like you have everything, so how can you be miserable? Well, material things don't mean jack without peace of mind! Like you said, we do become prisoners of our own minds. Most times we can't even believe our behavior either. Kudos to you my brother, you will help many, including yourself. Thank you!
so many things i have been going through now make sense. despite many successes in my life, i struggle to be happy for an extended period of time and if Brandon hadn't come forward I would still be thinking that there was something uniquely wrong with me but really it is something that effects many people who have been through similar experiences. what people don't get is we dont want to make excuses. it is just incredibly comforting to know that this is something that can be tackled.
Brandon is to be applauded.. He is the first "celebrity" to identify with BPD. "Put a Face on Borderline Personality Disorder, " brings hope and perhaps will save lives of millions. The National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder thanks and salutes you Brandon. Perry Hoffman, Ph.D., President NEA.BPD
he may have bpd, but this guys misbehavior has correlated very strongly with losing games. When the broncos went 6-0 under McDaniels' first year, he was happy as can be. From then on, it was nothing but whining. This guy is making a documentary about his borderline personality. think about it.
Very Inspirational Brandon. Looking forward to seeing the actual documentary. Madd Respect for coming out on this. I Suffer from BPD as well. Madd respect.
Good for him. As a person who suffers from a mental disorder( Bipolar disorder) I understand how it feels to be misunderstood and viewed as some sort of ourcast. It will never be easy, but all we could do is put our faith in God and strive for peace within ourselves. The opinions of others are irrelevant.
Thats Whats Up B-Marsh, take care of this and get your life back. Takes a real man to admit there's something wrong, and an even bigger man to try and help others in the process. Stay strong big dog. Go Fins.
Borderline Personality Disorder did not exist prior to 1980. That was when it was established as a disorder by the American Psychological Association (APA). Their process for establishing a disorder is by voting. A psychologist will put some traits and/or symptoms together into a set. Then the APA members vote on it. If more than half of them vote “Yes”, then it is called a disorder.
wow. this is inspirational. n to know someone out there. is going through ups and downs like me. we all walk a different path. may God walk with us all.
You are an outstanding receiver and you are even a better man for reaching out and helping others in pain with BPD. You are a true crusader for a just cause.
Do you know where Borderline Personality Disorder came from? It was not discovered! This so-called “disorder” was brought into existence during a meeting of the American Psychological Association through a majority vote! Yes, that's right. A psychologist put some character traits into a set and the members voted to call it a disorder and then gave it a name. You know, if psychologists are going to invent a new “disorder” it seems like they should think of a better name for it.
@DVDluvr123 clearly you have never met anyone who has been diagnosed with the disorder and who exhibits all the "traits." If you had, you'd have a different attitude.
@DVDluvr123 shut the fuck up. appreciate what he's doing insted of criticizing.. hes a good person. BPD is a Personality Disorder. People struggle with it every hour of everyday. And it takes a true man to admit theres something wrong with him on national television to help others. He's accomplished a lot with this disorder and yet you sit behind your monitor and try to be a smart ass.
@RealPewps I'm simply stating the facts. And you are displaying your ignorance here. Obviously you don't know how the APA creates new personality disorders - and how the psychologists who are members of the APA are getting wealthy “treating” these new disorders.
Everyone one always jump to conclusions when is come to athletes and how they behave. Ricky Williams was weird because he gave interviews with his helmet on and Brandon Marshall was a hot head trouble maker. No one really knows the truth and no one really knows what goes on in their lives. I commend Ricky and Brandon for sharing their stories
Thank you for telling your story. Mental illness is a real struggle. I'm 28 years old and have recently been diagnosed with MDD. Mental disorders affect all walks of life. Your an inspiration. It's hard to face your demons. Thanks again from a Pennsylvania dolphins fan.
Yes Brandon!!! Proud that you are putting your story out there so people can stop the misunderstanding. Looking forward to seeing the story of one of my favourite Dolphins! Go FINS! Superbowl 46 is the prize to strive for! #finsup
