Basically it shoots digital 4k resolution, consider that 1080p is 1k, that makes it 4 times (roughly) superior in terms of image resolution. At the moment you'll only ever see 4k resolution when you're in a cinema, however, TVs are coming out that upscale to 4k and no doubt there will soon be a new disc format that will replace blu-ray with 4k movies.

It'll essentially let them shoot incredibly professional looking shiny stuff :)

@MrWarterton Sorry, 1080p's 2k, the thousand is measured off the horizontal pixel ratio (which is 1920, therefore 2k). So 4k's double the resolution of what current 'HD' is. My bads internet.
