oh my gosh this brought tears to my eyes! I had the honor & privilege of seeing them live 7 times (including their final show). There will never be artists of their caliber again.
@elfgirl3 There's Very Few Quartets Anywhere....who sing on a regular basis every week...that perform
near as well as the Statlers....After, six years apart (as far as singing together, goes). The one thing
that Always REALLY impressed me about them...even More than their singing...was their INTEGRITY...as men of principle & faith...and Faithfulness to their wives of many years...You can't find role models like them anymore, especially in the area of "celebrities"...sad to say.
This is my favorite Statler Brothers song. I just LOVE it. I play it over and over. I'm very sad to hear that you don't sing any more. Don, you should at least sing around the house for your wife. It's hard for me to imagine that you guys will never sing together again.I love the Statler Brothers.
Absolutely one of the two best groups of ALL times. The Statlers and The Oakridge Boys keep all my memories of Grandma close to my heart. There was no music allowed in the house except the Statlers and Oaks.....Tks for the posting.

Don don't get yur brother in trouble! Oh wait a minute that is his job!! Ha ha Harold! Your son looks just like you and I hope that Grandstaff has as good success as you guys did.
I just ordered Don & Harold's book... "Random Memories"... got it on Wednesday and was finished with it by noon Thursday. I highly recommend it for any Statler fan and anyone who wants to know a little bit more about them. This group was/is known for keeping their private lives private... which is hard to do these days... and even with the writing of this book. I guess you could say that they let you know all they want the public to know about themselves, which is still good for them. God bless!
This was taken from a GAC special on the Hall of Fame induction. I was disappointed that they did not include the whole song, as my mouth was watering for some more Statlers music. I wrote to the Statlers asking if the whole thing would be released. I was told that the hall of fame has the rights. I wrote to the hall of fame and they stated that they have no plans to release the video. Perhaps if more of you will email, call, or write to the hall of fame, they will rethink.
@greeseba11 THEY DID INCLUDE THE WHOLE SONG BUT GAC DIDN'T SHOW IT ALL BUT THAT'S TV NOW DAYS AND WHAT U PAY FOR TV STATIONS DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS

All I can say is it's a good thing I wasn't in the audience or I'd have bawled like a big baby and embarrassed the kids. Heck, I teared up watching the video. The memories this "event" invokes from me are overwhelming. As the great George Younce once said, "and there ain't nobody come along like these boys".
I consider myself to be one extremely fortunate person, as I got to see the Statlers in concert four times. The last was part of their 'farewell' tour. NOBODY will ever come close to the talent these five (including Lew DeWitt) had.
I don't care if it had been six years since they sang together, they sounded great. I wish that they were still performing together. I miss true country music.
The Statler Brothers are THE ALL-TIME GREAT group in country music!!!! I miss them so much! Jimmy Fortune's gone solo since they retired as a group, and he's wonderful as a solo artist!
There is nobody out there that comes close to the Statler harmony. Just one other group I heard on the Ralph Emery show, about 26 years ago. Couldn't believe it!! I can't remember the name of the group but I think their name was the Ramblers. Not for sure. They sang this same song too. Some old school groups hit "chords" that sounded "statlerized" but remember, they were before the Statlers. The Mills Brothers was one group.
ALLENMUSKY..... you gotta to check out Dailey & Vincent... They're the next ones and pretty much have that Statler Bro'sharmony nailed :) They have have recorded a new CD containing 12 of the legendary Statler Brothers' most-loved songs coming out in Cracker Barrell 2/1/10
user833...I listened to Daily & Vincent and they are good if you like Twangy High pitched Blue Grass sound!..Their group consists of 3 Tenors and a Baritone singer!...It's NOT a true 4 part harmony which would include an Alto,Tenor, baritone and Bass like the Statlers.
I don't know about anyone else, But I hate to see these guys get old...I cant understand why any performing artist cant get a group together with vocals like these guys..The Statlers were successful with a 4 part harmony as are the Oak Ridge boys. Where is the next group???
They still sound great. Abravefan, you are right when you say there will never be another group like the Statlers. They gave us many years of enjoyment. It's great that we can see and hear them on You Tube.
