Josh Ritter, I wish I would have seen you. I've been bed ridden for quite a while now. Last month I felt good enough that my love and I drove an hour and a half to Chapel Hill, NC to see you at the Cat's Cradle. When we got there, you had just sold out. But it's okay. We sat on the curb by your tour bus all night and slow danced to this song in the street. Thanks for playing loudly enough for us to hear you outside. That was the most wonderful night of my life. We love you.
Not only this song but also this performance, will always come to mind when I consider picking up the next JR release or going to a show. Among other things that have been written, this is epic.
This song is absolutely incredible- what a story of growing through the hard times, learning, growing stronger and finding the light. The last verse in particular gives me chills.
saw him in new orleans....when he played this song he had the bar turn all of the lights off on the stage and all around and he unplugged from his amp....his band left the stage and he played this....i have never witnessed so many drunk, slightly drunk, and sober people be in absolute silent for over 10 minutes!
The most beautiful song i have ever heard....i have never been able to relate to the feeling of a song like i can this one....so sad...yet so much hope!
This is the most meaningful song I have heard heard in the last few years. Only 6,180 views though. I hope a wider audience starts to recognize his genius. Regardless, this song is resonates with me.
you are a silly goose if you ever pass up a chance to see Josh live, you will never see a more entertaining, interactive show! I saw him on 5-13 in Atlanta and had the chance to meet him and chat with him for about 10 mins. they come no better than Josh (and Josh hugs are the best hugs on earth)....Dawn Landes, his wife, was with him and she is also a fantastic artist in her own right.
i've heard this song a thousand times. every time i hear it, especially in a live version like this, i have to stop what i'm doing and pay attention. it's just so epic.
