Very true, God is most definetly alerting in theses last days, Secular music is the most popular instrument the devil uses to distract us followers. I deleted all the devil music from my ipod just the other day. Life is real now, I can hear the Holy spirit clearly now.

on this issue. A guy friend at my church was always giving me christian rap cd's that he would make and the more and more I listened to it the more I came to like it. Now I'm listening to people like Canton Jones, Trip Lee, and Lecrae and thats just a small list out of the most I listen to. It's a beautiful thing cuz the music I once loved is something that I despise now and God gave me better music that is not filled with pride, lust and money but with life and that glorifies Jesus
Wow. Just recently God delivered me from listening to secular music. When I say that i used to love hip hop and r&b, I mean it was my everything. I was a christian yet i would listen to many worldly songs like it was wrong or nothing when in reality I was feeding my spirit with all kinds of junk. Secular Music was something that i wanted to hold on too badly like I gave up everything else to God but I didnt want to give him this part of my life. I prayed about it and God really dealed with me

No no no no no, you don't have to give up ALL TYPES of secular music. There are bad secular songs, that I won't deny. However, there are also a lot of good stuff. You can find a good love song to listen to, and no coa2010, it's not gonna make you lust. Lust comes from physical attraction, not how you feel about someone. So give up the stuff about sex, porn, drugs, darkness, and profane language. Embrace music that is whole and pure. If you like rap btw, check out Lecrae or Trip Lee.
@eagles4christ even songs that don't have bad language in them have a meaning that i "worldy" and it pulls us away from the truth Christ teaches us. Some of those songs are filled with lies, lies we want to believe. So I'd be careful to say that you don't have to give up ALL types of secular music. You should ask God for discernment. Sometimes you have to be really careful... but let God tell you so pray and ask him. Most important thing is to seek him if what you desire is to love him back. :)

It is safe to listen to love music when you are in love but to keep it on the safe side, when you are married. I think it's best to be wary of what you put into your heart and mind. To listen past the catchy rhythms and tunes, because there can be some serious symbolism hidden in places. For stuff that's obvious, I think it's best to understand the effect of listening to it repetitively.

Now I just have one question. I am a young preacher of the word and over my time I have found out that a teenagers attention span is around 10 minutes. Now after that 10 minutes if the teen is not appealed by the message they zone that thing out. So what I do is I use secular music lyrics to draw in those young people. I connect those lyrics to the word of God (which is possible) in doing this it has worked and teenagers and adults have given there lives to God due to an understanding! Wrong????

I can relate to that one the most bcuz when I listened to all of that music allit did was feed that addiction. My pastor calls it a mind construct, the way we think and this allows the enemy to enter in and have us sin against God. But it can all start with music and our jusification of what's being said.
Music was created to glorify God who wants to build us, heal us, perfect us, and strengthen us. By listening to only christ devoted music, I've become a better person inside and out. I would listen to hardcore rap and hiphop and I was drawn to it because the lyrics fed the pain, sorrow, and voids being held within me. Everyone's walk with God is different, but you have to take it upon yourself to see if the music you allow in your spirit is uplifiting your soul or feeding your voids.

God spoke "let there be light" there was light. Because the holy spirit dwells within each of us. We also have the power to speak manifestations into existence, that is if you believe and have faith. Try to practice it sometime. Speak something into existence on a daily basis. Visualize it daily. Watch it happen
I agree w/ u ladies I would like to add something:I believe that if the Holy Spirit is working in someone,music with particular messages would not sit right with them,it takes time to learn these things. A person has to be serious in his or her walk with Christ in order to judge music based on the way that his/her Spirit responds. Good points young ladies but there is even danger so called Christian music. If there is no gospel message then it’s not the gospel its just music. Satan also appears as angle of light. Look at some of their lyrics, no mention of repentance or dyeing to self. Most of I is a bunch of feel good non sense. Allot of the “Christian” artist are sold-out to Satan as well.

hey girls thanks for this video, i have been contemplating about this the last couple of days so this is actually perfect timing for me to see. i have recently found myself listening to christian music hardcore the last couple of weeks and yesterday i was like...ok let me take a break and listen to some r&b and hip hop. and i literally listened to not even a whole song before i started to realize how much ME ME ME was in the song. And i have never noticed that before.
I have the same testimony. I would find myself being depressed, acting crazy, i was very lustful and i also had a porn addiction. God really spoke to me and through other people as well. I prayed that God to give me the strength to stop listening to it and in a week I find myself hate listening to these type of music. Till this day my focus is more on God and I love praising Him all day long. GOD IS GOOD!
Also, i just feel like music is COMMON SENSE...if it's talking about money sex drugs, etc...why, CHRISTIAN, are you listening to it? there's no excuse! ...anyway not all "secular" music is bad. Just music with an evil message is bad. and music with a good message is good. for example, some of Lauryn hill's stuff has a good message ..people just gotta be discerning. too bad people too scared to talk about it in church, thats the problem. it's not a legalistic thing, it's a common sense thing.

It may not be offensive, talk abot sex or be demeaning but if it does not Glorify and magnify the name of God then have none of it. Thank you for your testimony. I posted it on my blog. I vet all the music that I listen to for things that aren't spiritually healthy. It's simple. You can't be pure and fill up your soul with junk. The pleasure of the music makes the ideas in the music seem more tolerable and acceptable. It's like a sugar addiction. Once you're off it, and you want healthy foods, you don't want to go back.

I agree that music for (some) people can lead them to sin. I think content often goes unnoticed and it's important to know what you are listening to lyrics wise. I think the term secular music is interesting as well, I create music/poetry and although my content might not directly deal with God i still deem the content to be that of substance. For some people perhaps the best thing to do is not listen to any secular music if that is their stumbling block.
Whats crazy is that you see people rocking out to a song disrespecting women and if someone was to say the same lyrics to them they would be ready to slap and fight. Good Word ladies, God bless

I've tried it before, but I couldn't find any style that appealed to me. I love hiphop and rock STYLES but what's been blasting on the radio stations for the past few years--it's gotten so bad I don't listen to the radio anymore. Mostly, the music I listen to now isn't bad, but the main focus still isn't glorifying God. I do love Flyleaf, btw.
@Aysienne I quit cold turkey. Luckily, I had already been around Christians my age living a set-apart life. So I had been exposed to Christian music unlike that of the typical "hallelujah, it's Sunday let me praise God today" music. And I liked it and wanted more. Eventually I found the P4CM videos and I just had to wipe all 900+something songs that were on ipod out...And started over with about 12 songs in January... it's August and I have 400 songs all to his glory!

on this issue. A guy friend at my church was always giving me christian rap cd's that he would make and the more and more I listened to it the more I came to like it. Now I'm listening to people like Canton Jones, Trip Lee, and Lecrae and thats just a small list out of the most I listen to. It's a beautiful thing cuz the music I once loved is something that I despise now and God gave me better music that is not filled with pride, lust and money but with life and that glorifies Jesus

Wow. Just recently God delivered me from listening to secular music. When I say that i used to love hip hop and r&b, I mean it was my everything. I was a christian yet i would listen to many worldly songs like it was wrong or nothing when in reality I was feeding my spirit with all kinds of junk. Secular Music was something that i wanted to hold on too badly like I gave up everything else to God but I didnt want to give him this part of my life. I prayed about it and God really dealed with me

No no no no no, you don't have to give up ALL TYPES of secular music. There are bad secular songs, that I won't deny. However, there are also a lot of good stuff. You can find a good love song to listen to, and no coa2010, it's not gonna make you lust. Lust comes from physical attraction, not how you feel about someone. So give up the stuff about sex, porn, drugs, darkness, and profane language. Embrace music that is whole and pure. If you like rap btw, check out Lecrae or Trip Lee.

@eagles4christ even songs that don't have bad language in them have a meaning that i "worldy" and it pulls us away from the truth Christ teaches us. Some of those songs are filled with lies, lies we want to believe. So I'd be careful to say that you don't have to give up ALL types of secular music. You should ask God for discernment. Sometimes you have to be really careful... but let God tell you so pray and ask him. Most important thing is to seek him if what you desire is to love him back. :)

I think it's best to be wary of what you put into your heart and mind. To listen past the catchy rhythms and tunes, because there can be some serious symbolism hidden in places. For stuff that's obvious, I think it's best to understand the effect of listening to it repetitively.

Now I just have one question. I am a young preacher of the word and over my time I have found out that a teenagers attention span is around 10 minutes. Now after that 10 minutes if the teen is not appealed by the message they zone that thing out. So what I do is I use secular music lyrics to draw in those young people. I connect those lyrics to the word of God (which is possible) in doing this it has worked and teenagers and adults have given there lives to God due to an understanding! Wrong????

Music was created to glorify God who wants to build us, heal us, perfect us, and strengthen us. By listening to only christ devoted music, I've become a better person inside and out. I would listen to hardcore rap and hiphop and I was drawn to it because the lyrics fed the pain, sorrow, and voids being held within me. Everyone's walk with God is different, but you have to take it upon yourself to see if the music you allow in your spirit is uplifiting your soul or feeding your voids.

I agree w/ u ladies I would like to add something:I believe that if the Holy Spirit is working in someone,music with particular messages would not sit right with them,it takes time to learn these things. A person has to be serious in his or her walk with Christ in order to judge music based on the way that his/her Spirit responds. I have the same testimony. I would find myself being depressed, acting crazy, i was very lustful and i also had a porn addiction. God really spoke to me and through other people as well. I prayed that God to give me the strength to stop listening to it and in a week I find myself hate listening to these type of music. Till this day my focus is more on God and I love praising Him all day long. GOD IS GOOD!

I agree that music for (some) people can lead them to sin. I think content often goes unnoticed and it's important to know what you are listening to lyrics wise. I think the term secular music is interesting as well, I create music/poetry and although my content might not directly deal with God i still deem the content to be that of substance. For some people perhaps the best thing to do is not listen to any secular music if that is their stumbling block.

Whats crazy is that you see people rocking out to a song disrespecting women and if someone was to say the same lyrics to them they would be ready to slap and fight. Good Word ladies, God bless

Great video! Just a word for people giving up worldly music, don't be so quick to substitute Christian music for worldly music. After feeding ur soul with garbage for years now is the time to stop and listen to what God has to say. Let him lead u because there are wolves in sheep clothing even in the Gospel/Christian industry. GOD BLESS!

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!! Seriously! I saw a P4CM video on music like this before, but this one I relate to so much more and I'm really gona try harder. I've tried it before, but I couldn't find any style that appealed to me. I love hiphop and rock STYLES but what's been blasting on the radio stations for the past few years--it's gotten so bad I don't listen to the radio anymore. Mostly, the music I listen to now isn't bad, but the main focus still isn't glorifying God. I do love Flyleaf, btw.

@Aysienne I quit cold turkey. Luckily, I had already been around Christians my age living a set-apart life. So I had been exposed to Christian music unlike that of the typical "hallelujah, it's Sunday let me praise God today" music. And I liked it and wanted more. Eventually I found the P4CM videos and I just had to wipe all 900+something songs that were on ipod out...And started over with about 12 songs in January... it's August and I have 400 songs all to his glory!

@Aysienne God will help you! It it alot of genres of christian music that will appeal to you. there are alot of great gospel hip hop artist out there like lecrae,canton jones, dwayne tryumf that are great artist who music glorify God.

I have been contemplating whether to delete all my hip hop songs. well after watching this, i summed up courage to delete the hip hop music on my itunes. Im glad there is someone that is going through what I am going through and yall giving yalls testimony made it much easier for me. @berneasebrown Like they said in the video Lecrae is REALLY REALLY good!! He has a new album coming out 9.28.10 called Rehab! His last album was called Rebel & that was amazing! Trip Lee, Sho Baraka, Tedashii, Json, Flame, Bizzle, Thi'sl, PRo, Mouthpi3ce, KJ-52, Still Trill Christians (Aj McQueen), so anybody from The Crossmovement or 116 Crew. Hope this helps!! =)
