before you sell, find out why you causing interference, if at all, it might not be your fault, but a fault of the other persons crap equipment..
but then again i've seen some of the hacks in the US, snakesradio is one of them and a few others that claim to be rig doctors yet hack up a rig so bad it's not worth the effort in fixing it..!!
Power has nothing to do with bleed over-interference. U can bleed all over a TV with a 15 watts radio tuned poorly and yet run over 2KW and not bleed on a thing,if you radio is setup right. This means,no mods kits, swing kits, spreading little copper coils apart and NO keying 2 swing to 150+. All of those mods are what causes TVI,not to much power. I use over 2KW, the neighbors live 20 ft from my antenna and they never heard me,cause I'm setup clean i still talk all over the world!
The reason your neighbours call the "COPS" is because your mods weren't done right and you are tossing spurs. That makes the radio nothing but a useless boat anchor.
Get your antenna up high, make sure it is matched correctly and don't use a power mic. The biggest factors are the height of your antenna and the use of a power mic. Also make sure your mod limiter wasn't clipped.. If it was, keep your MIC gain low. Good Luck, nice rig.
Oh, you mean if my inverted "V" I use on 75 meters that has 5:1 on each end of the band had a better match it would not interfere with other electronics gear? Wow, I guess I learn something every day.
God I love reading technical postings by CBers. It can be so enlightening.
@PalomarJack Nope, wasn't talking to you at all. I was talking to the person running the radio with the clipped mod limiter and power mic on 11 meter.. And wondering why he was coming through his neighbors equipment. I don't think I mentioned 75 meters at all, did I?
Did you ever try a low pass filter? Reducing the modulation down to about 80% on a scope? RF was probably getting back into the house and making your wife unhappy. That was an antenna issue and a current balun with many elevated radials would have helped along with better grounding where the coax enters the house. Just figure that a commercial AM broadcast station can run 50 thousand watts and not cause interference. They have a minimum of 120 ground radials though. 8 is ok for CB 16 better.
Talking about distortion oh grammatically challenged one. You really don't know what the fuck you're talking about, do you? Tell you what, you stick to driving a truck (which is really fine, I did at one time too), and you leave radio repairs to more qualified people like the guy who posted this video should have done. Okay?
WoW!!!! That is a very nice radio!!! I remember when I had my old rci2950 back in the day. It's still on the shelf in my garage along with many amps and extra alternators. I remember those days, before cell phones..lol
I live up in eastern Washington state with plenty of land and everytime I get my base station going, I still get complaints from time to time. mostly from my wife lol
Nice Job!!! Where do you get the aluminum face plates? You buy, make, ?? It makes the radio look more old school that way. Get a good ground plane antenna or a good beam and put them up damn high... That should help with your neighbor issues. Stay away from Antron 99/Imax type antennas with no ground plane. Those will get you in hot water with the neighborhood.
my 2990 has upgraded power supply and swings damn neer 300 watts pushing it with a good whistle. off my maco 6 element maco the neighbers thinnk they have a ghost who lifts the garadge doors up and down comes over the tv and radios and sometimes sets off their house alarm! they just wait till i hook my phantom 12 tuber up hahaha
cause if your running a high power amplifier with your CB it will cause interference to tv's, radios, RC cars, garage doors, and tons of other things.
That's a beauty! I have a RCI 2970 DX. Mine cranks out 200 watts.

Don't it have a variable power knob you can turn down so neighbors don't get any rfi? You can turn back up when they go to bed late at night.

No license required means no brain required.
By the way, I'm so happy that I get to use and legally work on technology that's less than 20 fucking years old during my time off.
*day ruined*
And I get paid to do easy work on 20+ year old technology in CB radios because CBers don't know how. How cool is that!?
I love being a Radio Amateur. It means money from you people that don't know how to fix the crap you break.
*day ruined, further*
Hasta...

The RCI 2990DX was manufactured as a "High Powered" radio.
A good ground and an inline low pass filter will stop the interference.
I know because mine was bleeding on our electronics....but not anymore :)
Nice Job On The Radio River Rat !
