Unlike the commercial UK bullshit I think you'll find NZ is leading the pack into unchartered territory with DnB and Dubstep among other genres. As for this being unique and in uncharterd territory it is very out dated I remember stuff with the same vibe going on around 1991...Drum and bass had its day with goldie and groove rider as for Dub step ,,what a god awfull sound ..
