It pains me to know that John is so right but so wrong also. Yes God wants us to submit with our hearts and not evidence. But Jesus wasn't God. He was a prophet. Allah IS the one true God. And John, you need to submit to him. Why won't you??? HE loves you. HE is waiting. And don't say that you just don't believe in Allah. Don't be an ignorant fool. He pulls at your heart and you "don't need anymore evidence". You need to love him. Why don't you????

What I MEANT was, at least I have SOME sort of spiritual connection, and I'm not just some angry, narrow minded person who can't accept that there are different religions. I'm well aware that there are other religions! My father is an atheist, my mom is unitarian, and I'm a Christian! Happy?

Yes, I do need more evidence. Just like I need evidence that Aliens built Pyramids or that a bracelet could improve my flexibility or buying a book Oprah promoted will really give me everything I want in life. When I ask a theist a question about what is stated in the bible, like Leviticus 25:40-44 were slavery is approved by God, all you get is double talk. Question all statements that you find in a collection of bronze books written by sheep herds living in the middle east who were trying to create central government. Reading the Bible with this in mind and you will understand.

Yes, think. Be skeptical, use critical thinking, use logic, seek, search with all your heart, mind and soul to see if there truly is God, and who He is, what He made you for. And also know that God, being God, will use all these things to reveal His glory and majesty to you (if you are ready for it!)

@flaccidpackage I think to some extent I understand what Piper is talking about. He comes from a theological tradition that teaches that before birth, humans are divided into the elect and the reprobate by God. Those who are elect will be drawn to God, those who are reprobate will never know.

Of course for those of us who have no such experience of the divine we cannot ever hope to understand if it is true.
