I think Edward Norton is the best pick for Clay - good work there. But I don't get the two for Tom..Paul, though this was a made a few years ago, is now rather round and less "tiny", as Tom is described. The person I see as Tom is absolutely Jason Bateman. As for Alice, I can't think of one, but if I had to name one; Hailee Steinfeld. She was Mattie Ross in the new True Grit. Very talented young woman, and actually 14 years old, which is incredible.

@thereck456 Ryan Reynolds is a surprisingly good thought. RD Jr is a bit too big a pawn in Hollywood to be such an outright supporting role like Tom. Emma Stone would be interesting but she's getting a bit older as of late.

I agree with the casting of Clay. The casting of Alice, not so much. Alice is more of a straight laced girl thrown into a bad situation. Not a starlet. Then rest of the casting seems pretty logical. I totally put my vote in for Kathy Bates to play the creepy religious woman on the bridge XD hehe. And yes.. I totally agree with santachrist, David Arquette is movie poison, when will they just put him out of his misery.

cont...Giamatti as Tom is a good choice, but he doesnt scream "gay". I always see Tom as my friends friend that I only ever see at New Years..short, moustace, gay, sophisticated type. But hes no actor...youve gotta get rid of the Arquette obsession...maybe he'd fit as Dan. Ardai, I always saw as a kind of a Mark Twain sort..so whoever played him in that old ST TNG episode would do...JK Simmons?? gah!..McKellen would be OK. Why even bother casting Sharon?

Except Tom I just saw as a tidy, well-kept man who happens to dress nice and have a cat... and be gay. :) I don't think he's written in a way that "screams gay", but one of those guys who's very orderly and precise. I think Giamatti is perfect. And I absolutlely love Sir Ian McKellen in everything, so of course I think he'd be the perfect Ardai! <3

James Denton, or some other cookie-cutter, not-too-terribly-talented-or-f­amous "hunk star" kinda fits the bill for me..Norton is too..i dunno...Clay in the book is so..well..he frankly doesnt stand out as a personality as Norton does. Hence one of them bland "faces" would suffice. As much as I loathe Sarah Polley, i saw her as Alice, (which is good cuz Id ge to see her face hit with a brick.)

i'm gonna get bashed for this... I saw Alice as Dakota Fanning, actually. 15, innocent but gradually matures, i think it works. and Jordan is 12, so there would really be less of a gap between the two then. that's just my thought.

All your actors for alice are too old and good looking. Sure she's cute in the book but not a super model ;).

and David Dorfman is quite grown now, that pic is like 5-3 years ago I think....

the role for Jordan would've fit Noah Gray-Cabey from Heroes, but when he returned to the show...his voice just sounded so different than before...he just grew up too fast, so its too late LOL

Why? 2 reasons.

1. Roth wanted to make Cell in his own way while the people writing wanted it to be faithful to the book.

2.Roth wants to write his own stories
