If there were three pilots, I'm pretty sure that Getter Robo would have lasted longer, and wouldn't have taken as many hits. Sadly, they needed the others to get Shin Getter up and running, which forced Musashi to do it alone. I'm not saying Musashi isn't badass. I'm just sayin' that they would have lasted longer with more pilots in Getter.

Granted, this is probably the best Musashi death sequence they ever gave him, as he single-handedly is holding off the dinosaur empire (not to mention he's so awesome that he can pilot Getter Robo by himself).

G Gundam was an awesome series. I think what you're not realizing is that it was never meant to be serious, and was the first alternate universe series in the franchise for a reason. Tomino had just directed the grimdark that was Victory Gundam and needed a break. So, we got super robot Gundams with hilarious stereotypes fighting.

Thanks for the info. I really like all the Getta Robo versions specially when playing it on the SRW games on the PS2. I think Shin Getta was my strongest mech in the game followed by Mazinkaiser. Great anime and great games!

Ok before anyone disses me,I just want to know why there's so many versions of the Getta Robo story? This is just an honest question.Shin Getta Robo Armaggedon, enemies were alien invaders. In Shin Getta vs Neo Getta, enemies returned back to the old TV series, the reptilian empire and then theres another Shin Getta series where their enemies were Onis. Why so many variants? But I think the best was Shin Getta OVA version.

Because there are many variants? No particular reason, it's just how it is, the closest one to the original manga is probably New Getter Robo, well, in violence, dark undertones and all anyway, they did replace the reptilians with the onis which changed quite a bit of things, as well as fusing Musashi and Benkei together. They also didn't adapt the whole of it obviously, that would probably have been too long seeing how many manga series and getters are tied to the continuity.

Oh and remember people. SGR Vs NGR is like most of the other spinoffs; it's another reality. The staple of each incarnation of Getta Robo is having Musashi sacrifice his life. This, however, was the most heroic of them all.

This has to be, IMO, one of the GREATEST Opening scenes in all of Japanese Animation. Here you have Musashi, orginally cast as the clumsy, foolish fat guy of the show kicking all levels of ass on his own.

The one line I LOVE is when Jin says, "Professor! If this continues, Musashi will be in danger! Let me go! If we're going to die I'd rather die together!" That just really shows how much of a team they've become.
