I will disagree there :P Stratovarius plays it more fluently than Edguy - the latter sounds just like a cover, a little choppy play, and the keyboards and guitars in the intro don't have that "Stratovarius magic" - the powerful filling sound. I still think Edguy are awesome, but this song has Stratovarius all over it, and only Stratovarius can play it right.

only thing Iron Maiden have in common with Edguy is the vocals. Their way of playing is alot different. Edguy is power metal while maiden is a genre itself (an AWESOME one)

They sound similar, but I wouldn't call it "common notes". The key is obviously different, only the chords are the same. But who cares? Every tune was there somewhere before^^

If the melody is based on chords, there must be common notes I guess. I´m not that deep into theory, but I believe some notes are exactly the same, only octaves above/below depending on the song. I also don´t know who released the album before, but I´m not here to judge anyone. As you say, the music as to come from somewhere:). I love both tunes. They just have some similarities relating the main melody.
