Why - to me as non-Japanese person - kokyu appears to be underrated instrument among Japanese musicians? I have the feeling because everyone know koto, shamisen, shakuhachi etc, but kokyu is always left at the end ("oh, and... that bowed thing!"). Japanese music sounds beauitful performed with it so I guess nothing bad would happen if more people enjoyed playing it.
