  • Every communistic or dictatorial country there is usually has the gall to add the word 'democratic' to their name. East Germany was the German Democratic Republic. And there are more. A true democracy, a true government of, by and for the people, doesnt need to do that.

  • Only music can bring seperated people together again. As a Korean I hope that soon we will re-unite so I can see all my lost relatives from the North. Blessings to the ROK and DPRK from the USA.

  • The joy that was evident in 1990 when East and West Germany were united will pale when North and South Korea re-unite. It will be incredible.

  • absolutely beautiful.

  • I am a Filipino who loves to listen to other cultures' music -- I should say, Arirang is one of the best that I've heard so far. It tells you of the beauty and grandeur of the Korean culture!

  • @brave9801 have a listen to, 'SUO GAN', it's a welsh lullaby, it was also in the movie empire of the sun, which stars christian bale

  • There were grown men and women crying at this concert when this was played. North and South looked at each other, with tears in their eyes, and said "Why?"

  • "Variations on a Korean Folk Song" Anyone familiar with it?

  • Arirang is an old popular korean song. It's a song for all koreans around the world. It's words are beautiful. It's not a comunist song. It has aprox. 600 years old.

  • The audience looks like robots. So scary!

  • This is a testament to the power of music and its ability to unite people. Politics aside, this is beautiful!

  • this was an historic event, enjoy! It may never happen again.

The people are for the most part very stoic, but at some points, you can see the emotion.

    Well done, excellent!

  • Even I have to say: put the politics aside for a minute and enjoy the song.

  • Interesting.

  • No, it's a popular korean folk song. Look up the Korean anthem.

  • piccolo

  • whats that instrument at 1:34?

  • It's a Piccolo

  • Piccolo flute, specifically. Remember that piccolo refers to a tonal class of instrument, much like the term, "Contrabass."

  • Well, it's not a clarinet or trumpet, so it can be classified solely as a piccolo.

  • whats that instrument at 1:34?

  • Piccolo :)

  • played very beautifully too!

  • Muito bom...

  • North Korea is Communist

    South Korea is Capitalist

  • what project? and why screw me? Did I say something inaccurate or offensive? you can go to wikipedia to check it out if you want.

  • Question: North Korea is under communism and South is democratic?....Correct me if I am wrong please.

  • north Korea is the Democatric People's Republic of Korea.

  • that's just a name. The country is under a DICTATORSHIP. There is not a single iota of democracy in that tyrannical regime.

  • so what? America's democracy doesn't even work properly. What's the point of voting, when idiots like Bush or Clinton become presidents?

  • @atiu88

That is easily the worst answer I've ever heard to any question.

  • @atiu88 another word for communism

  • @atiu88 Uhm...no. South Korea is the Democratic Republic....

  • @koreanGartist1234 Democratic Republic is what communist countries use to identify themselves, its an oxymoron, but yes; South Korea is a Democratic Republic like the United States.

  • @pianist12 me too :)

  • North Koreans deserves something better in their lives. Not just music. Not just about money. But they need to be restored from within. =)

  • I hope your joking, they are being peaceful by agreeing to take down their nukes. Plus we have two wars going on right now, we can't multi-task.

  • history has shown that it is almost impossible to win a war by fighting on many fronts

  • your just a racist faggot.

  • your just dumb...

  • it's their government that is bad, their citizens don't deserve that at all.

  • i teared up when i heard this being performed... i was heartbreaking when i thought about the people of north korea, being a south korean myself. *sighs*

  • Beautiful performance. I pray for the North Korean people and that freedom comes to them soon.
