  • About two weeks ago I uploaded a video of me playing guitar. I was getting very frustrated by the audio to video sync. It Played fine on my computer. I ultimately got the best results with a WMV file. When I uploaded a mov file the sound was really compressed sounding, and that was at 3MBS.

I've heard using a constant bit rate (CBR) for the audio works best. Also you can wath a video in higher quality by adding &fmt=18 to the url

  • Do you have any tips for maintaining audio to video sync on uploads of H.264 files?

I recently added my 1st upload from a file recorded directly from my DV camera (live) into Quicktime. I chose the "Best (H.264) 640x480 video 128Kbps ACC audio.

It plays back just fine on the desktop in QT from the original but the youtube upload has both hesitations and the sound is ahead what appears to be about 10 frames (guessing).

    Thanks!

  • How did you get a 3:43 video down to just 768 kbps? I am using h264, but it doesn't compress to that size! Thanks

  • 768kbps is a bitrate, not a file size...

  • you understand it wrong. 768 kbps is the data rate.

  • Thanks for the vid. I've spent WAAAY THE heck too much time researching good quality vid for playback on youtube over the past few days. I think I may need to move to h.264. I have been using pinnacle 10 which is no h.264 capable, and the vid quality is very blotchy. This video seems to demonstrate the need for me to move to it.

What product did you enocode this with?

  • i use my elgato turbo.264 or quicktime pro. with the right settings you'll get a nice quality :)
