  • If you take a 50 dollar note and hold a lit match to it you might be happier with the resukt, because you don't have to look at that thing. Some things you can just take and put them as far away as possible.

  • Too bad Yamato didn't get the Frontier license.

I'm gonna cut Bandai some slack since they've been 20+ years away from the Macross franchise. Even though their initial VF-25's were less than stellar. They've somewhat made up for it with an excellent VF-27 and Konig Monster.

Let's hope their YF-29 steps up to the game of Yamato's excellent VF-19 Fire Valkyrie.

    *pauses*

    *Proceeds to die of laughter*

  • Woo.. That looks very very veeerry complicated. xD

  • I have this idea for a fans project thing where it's actually parts for it that are supposed to give it more points of transformation.

  • Josh's anger and rage caused by this toy always makes me chuckle. :D

  • Wow!

    It's a partswarmer!

  • how to build its leg

because i have some problem to build the leg

can u show the video. :(

  • Lol try to create a fully transformable MEcha this small, it's just friggin hard to make it transform like the bigger ones

And if you just had a little more patience it wouldn't be as hard as you make it sound like!

  • Well's the reason why this toy is like a complicated piece of puzzle is that the VF100's series used parts swapping as the main gimmick for the line. The results of the three modes are clean, well proportioned and dead-accurate. That's why I'm still a bit more forgiving on the figures. There's a more expensive 1/60 Chogokin version costing over 10000 yen above and a cheaper Robot Damashii version which costs around 2500 yen.

  • wow tu intencion es buena pero disculpa realamente eres malo ensamblando estos modelos se necesita pasiencia y dedicion para poder hacer las cosas bien y no trates asi a las piezas de tus modelos por esa razon se pierden suerte para la proxima

  • oh my dear lord... i was just fixin to buy an ozma 1/100... glad i happened to find this..yeeeeeeeessssssshhhh. i was thinking it would transform like the toynami ones atleast... does the dx transform in the same manner?

  • It's like one of those 4D puzzle toys. lol

  • Was not kidding about remove everything for transformation...

  • grab the revoltech version they have a better version too it can transform into three modes its much better than that thing ur reviewing

  • I was thinking of getting a VF100 VF-25s.....now I'm not so sure. The thing that worries me the most is how well the thing will stay together at the joints, especially after removing/putting back on the pieces several times..... I HATE loose joints, lol.

  • This toy model is an acquired taste.. its budget-worthy and is actually very good for its scale, and very accurate too. Kudos tho for the amount of detail and planning they did for something of that size. It's more or less like a model than a toy. Your complaints notwithstanding, this "toy" falls in with those who actually like doing meticulous things, not for the average joe. To each their own, I say.... funny review though, u always seem to find something to complain about in ur reviews.

  • Hey, cool. I didn't know they made a Macross Mugenbine figure.

  • ROFL.. best review EVER.

I bought the friggin same toy thinking it would transform.

  • This is why you never cross a Transforming Macross toy with a Gunpla.

to Bandai STICK WITH WHAT YOU KNOW. (Gundam/Super Robot Chogokins.)

  • do you even know what your saying, this guy buy the action figure this isnt the 1/72 modelkit, i have the ozma and alto and they are awesome, you get what you paid its simple has that.

  • you scared me wen u yelled.lol

  • rofl rofl rofl hey shred, these things shouldnt need to be dismantled to be transformed? what if thats what they had to do in macross? hahaha lol just chill out i found this rather funny

  • yeah im only having a rant LOL! my point is at this scale a fully transformable "TOY" would lose detail and have all these big out of scale joint n stuff as to not break when you pick t up! and C MON how important is actually PLAYING with these things anyway!?!?!? I pose mine put it on the shelf and THATS IT! sure i might change the pose Or transform it now and then but c mon im an ADULT so i can handle all the parts! PLUSS i build models so its no big deal! but to actually say TOYNAMI can do it

  • i got ya lol both sides are valid so yea.

in the end though it was just funny both of you lol

  • actually i only did it coz of ....well why the hell not ahahah i DO mean what i say but whatever lol youtube comment dont mean shit so i dont mind going off JUST FOR FUN! lol and hey if he thinks THIS one is small....DANG you gotta see the one i bought off E BAY today! didnt know it was 7cm long DOH!

  • haha lol your right it is youtube, and ROFL way to small is it like SD or something?

  • keeping all the parts is definitely a big hassle, I would probably loose those parts if I have that toy.

  • Lol "doesn't even stick" *tosses VF100*, man that's bummy having to dismantling it to change modes. Funny review 5*

  • Im watching thisvid for the second time and im STILL PISSED! FUCK YOU YOU CHILD! this thing ROCKS! THIS scale having topull it apart to transform is TO KEEP IT FROM HAVING HUGE OUT OF SCALE HINGES YOU STUPID KID!!!!! these are NOT to play with in the sand pit you fucking ...............CHILD! hinges at this scale would destroy it accuracy ! MY GOD are you people ONLY INTERESTED in "TOYS"

THIS SCALE IS AWESOME!!! you dont know shit

  • I was kinda on the fence about getting the DX Chogo or the VF100, now I know that its only the DX I better try for.

  • this bandai version sucks the big one. i'm definitely gettin' one...NOT! thanks for the informative review!

  • that dismantling is hilarious kudos bro funny video

  • The Jet model is just gorgeous! so nice. id consider getting it just for that... however. the transformation was just shocking.

  • i give you 10 dollars 4 that...

  • "was it worth it for you." - Josh. Classic.

  • LOOOOOL

    YAMATO RULS

    Bandai sucks

  • Yep, Yamato is the only company that can get the job done right regarding Macross toys.

  • lol, judging by the way you put it together this thing isn't a transformer, it needs its own new assembly line to "transform" into this thing.

  • Wow Josh, good thing you didn't review the blue Zeta Plus Gundam. It would've made your head exlode with how much partsforming it does.

I do love the design of this incarnation of the Valkyrie, but I agree that it's ridiculous that it doesn't actually transform without disassembling it.

  • lego...yep!

    Ps. Are you crazy?

  • Better than lego?

  • Bandai... sucks!!

  • "...I'm so tired and sick I can't even make metaphors about how this thing sucks."

    Heh.

  • I ummm might be an OD one out when i say I LIKE IT!!! what i DONT like is sillt hinges and shit that ya find on transforming toys! mind you im MORE a model builder and Im gonna paint and detaile so Playing with my "toys aint a problem

  • Bandai fuks up the macross line .. nuff said ..

I bought the 1/60 chogokin Mikhail version .. and while it's not bad .. it's way too expensive for what it delivered (usd170) .. and now I find my self lookin at the YF21 made by Yamato as a superior .. cant freaking wait for Yamato to do this line in their style ..

  • I endedup buy the 1/100 scale Gundam 00 season1 figures.. while those are wonderfully articulated .. they were too small

each was 20 bucks a pop..

  • Fuck! 50 for that little piece of shit? Hell nah I'll spend the extra 15

  • not buying it thanks for the review

  • Now that is some lame shit from Bandai.

Great review. I love how CollectionDX will lay harsh criticism on (so called) toys that deserve it. Keep it up.

  • Yeah it's kind of hard to make good toys of Frontier Valkyries, since, like this toy, Macross Frontier wasn't very good either, the weirdness of the CGI probably didn't help the toymaking process.

  • Oh cmon people , dont be so negative .

When you have little more time then i guess it isent all that bad to put it together and naturally it isent such a bad toy .

  • You call that VF100 a toy?..... If you knew the difference between playing with a toy and a model kit...they you wouldn't had said that comment. VF 100 is a model kit gone wrong. But the GNU-Braiger is a parts-toy gone right.

    Draw the line....straight.

    -R78

  • PIECE OF SHIT!

Thank for the review, now I shall avoid VF100 line like a plague.

  • IMO When you need to dismantle a toy to make it work they might as well have just thrown in three separate but non transformable modes for that VF-25.

  • Lol this is more like venting off at VF100s than a review.

I agree with you with all that part swapping though, must be a nightmare lol. If its me spending alot for that VF, I'd just leave in one mode >_>

For the parts, would'nt you'd have a tray or something to keep everything neat and tidy, you're a figure collector right?...

  • Grrrrrr HULK SMASH!!!!!

  • Crappy VF100's, in exchange for what? A Gadessa recolor? Exia R2, yet ANOTHER 00 Raiser, 0 Gundam, etc...

  • "who wants to go through with that?"

It seems that even from a gadget standpoint, Japanese are more willing to go with roundabout convoluted cluttered hassles.

Anyone with skill and spare time would get tempted to dremel and slam together all the parts into a mini version of the 1/60 DX. Sort of.

  • Thanks for the review. I laughed.

  • Although the video sold me on the base background...does anyone know where what how when? about this base/background in the video? I wanr many!!

  • They are Kotobukiya Mechanical Chain Bases

  • How much do they cost online? If they're cheap, it'll make a decent background for photo shoots if I buy a lot of them. Speaking of which, this toy deserves a little praise due to being clean and accurate in all modes.

  • LOL, WTF was that? I mean, some partsforming can be ok, like a hipjoint, hands, if it's not claiming a perfect transformation, but that's just retarded.

  • AHAHAHAH goddamn, I think this is the first time i've ever heard or even READ Josh in such a negative tone.

extreme ROFL at the level of RAGE..

  • Holy crap! That's not a toy! It's nothing more than a pre-assembled model! Bad Bandai!

  • The fact that Josh said that Toynami did there 1/100's better says something about this toy!!!

Bummer....... Future release may not make it and i was hoping for the VF-2SS.

  • I think you need to take a break from doing reviews for a while... :P

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOL at the RAAAAAAAAAAAAGE and spitting out parts.

I have never seen Josh go to these lengths to transform a toy. DAMN you Bandai!

  • LoL, the way I look at it at, at least you got your $50 worth in parts! XD

1/72 is the one to get at this price point.

  • Ohhhh Wizartar, Ohhh Wizartar, you bad,, baaaad boy! LOL!

C'mon man! I saw your review. You must've been laughing off your seat & gasping for air after looking at that jigsaw valk toy torturing Josh like that.

You did crack-up didn't you? Ohhh Wizartar..... LOL!!!!

    -R78

  • Despite the minor drawbacks of the DX. It's still A LOT better than the VF100 offering.

    Stay away folks.

  • japan....wtf are you thinking?..........AGAIN

  • Wow, the ultimate parts-former. lol

I guess this thing is really ment to be more of a display model then an actual toy.

  • where did you get this base...looks like it's a snap together of a bunch...nice base background.

  • Where'd you get the base from? Its real nice & I want it!

  • Josh got the display chain base from Hobby Link Japan.

They're fairly cheap to buy there.

    -R78

  • As bad as the overall execution of the toy is, the 1/100 VF-25F still beats anything Toynami has released for the Macross franchise.

  • That's terrible... that doesn't even qualify as a transformation. Surely they could have done A LITTLE better.

12:23 LOL... that's the picture they should put on the box... just a heap of parts.

  • where did you get this guy and how much did he cost???

    i wanna get one

  • The head is kinda of weird as well as the body from your standard valkyrie of old.

  • i think i might buy one of these

  • wow O.o that sucks..eventually the pieces will become loose when you want to change its parts.

  • jesus what a piece of shit

  • That is what I like to see, some awesome nerd rage. That bit at the very end had me dying laughing. I think if I want a VF-25 I will stick with the chogokin or maybe even the model kit.

  • lol...When is the DX Chogokin gonna be reviewed D: ...the VF100 makes me cry.

  • This right here puts a whole new meaning to the word "Partsformer"

  • I got it for half price and its not that bad. I would not buy this figure at full price and I won't be picking anymore up. I had to tighten almost all the joints up with nail polish/superglue. I would recommed this figure if you can find it for 1500 yen or less.

  • It looks good in fighter or battroid but 100% fails in the shoulders for gerwalk. If you want a fighter OR battroid this figure is ok, if you want transformability then stay away from the VF100's line, the next 3 releases are exactly the same as this one.

  • lol "what did i do to you"

    this part i laughed hard...

  • wow guess i won't buy that one. the humanity.
