Ron Paul - Patriotism: The last refuge of a scoundrel

The core of this speech is Ron Paul's statement that patriotism is the effort to resist oppressive state power. By this he means, of course, resisting the U.S. government's power. But if he ever defined "oppressive", boredaghast cut that from teh video. But we know Ron Paul wants to abolish the entire income tax, for example, abolish the banking system and most regulation, and tie the dollar to gold. Essentially, hand over the United States to its wealthy elite.

The United States IS run by the elites hahaha. Ron Paul wants to put in radical 360 degree change which would completely reverse what we have now which is the Federal Reserve and banking elites running the country. Ron Paul wants to give more power to the people. The gold standard would allow people to preserve their wealth and not have it be destroyed by the Federal Reserves inflationary policies which bailout the rich at the expense of the poor and middle class.

ToddBoyle, I think that you would really love Ron Paul if you'd learn a little more about him. There are a ton of resources, including his voting record from the 10 terms he's served in Congress. Most people can't even conceive what "small government" means because ours has been dominating our lives for so long. Ron Paul advocates small government that ONLY protects and defends our individual autonomy as the Constitution dictates.

What a dork. At the 20 second mark, he says he never met anybody who doesn't wholeheartedly support our troops, wherever they may be. Mr Paul I do not support the troops. I disapprove of their lifestyle of predation on weaker people, their illegal actions obeying illegal orders to occupy Iraq, for example. Why should I support them in any way? I oppose veterans benefits too.
