  • "Hey, Joe" is an incredible song. You know what I really like about Slash in this video? He doesn't do acrobatic stunts or anything silly; he just stands there and plays the hell out of that Les Paul. Out-STAND-ing video, MetallicAsDevel! Thank you for posting it.

  • hendrixx was better, but slash is a great guitarist too

  • MASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Once more: Fuck you, Slash haters. jeluosy.....

  • Every guitarist look at 6:28

  • This is horrible!

  • @erperejildo becha u cant play it fucker

  • @TheRosemouth Slash sucks. Jimi rules.

    Simply, no more

  • @erperejildo jimi was a great guitar player so is slash so fuck of prick

  • david gilmour at the front, brilliant :D

  • Is that Dermot O'Leary? fuck me I thought he knew shit all about good music.

  • Eh what about Steve Winwood&Mitch Mitchell here lads? Are they not even worthy of a mention?Has to be all about Slash???Mitch Mitchel played drums on the original studio track. He played with Jimi at Monterey. He also played with Jimi&Billy Cox at Woodstock.Winwood was Jimi's keyboards on Electric Ladyland (e.g.Voodoo Chile Blues). He's singing the song here and doesn't even get a mention on comments.. WTF??Slash plays a peach of a les paul-xtra sweet-but he's defo the lightweight on this stage.

  • @Kirkswork2010 Could not agree more dude...

  • Slash...he keeps his guitar strap is set so low It makes you wonder how he manages to play the low E string...

Plus the cigarette signifies that he just doesn't want to play with his teeth cause he would spoil his cigarette, otherwise he would lol

    (not really but it's a thought )

  • @Kostas1601 Don't you mean the high e

  • @adio123456789 nope, the high e is the one of the lower part of the guitar ...(the thinnest string) and when your guitar strap is set low you can easily access that, but you can't play the low E string so easily..

  • @Kostas1601 Yea I play with my strap pretty low to and I'm pretty sure the top string is one of the easiest to play

  • @adio123456789 in case of confusion, the low E string is the thickest string on the guitar.....I don't know how you grab your guitar, but from my experience, you need to wrap your whole hand around the fretboard in order to reach the low E string when you set your strap really low, and I find that pretty difficult...the high e I can reach with no problem...

  • @Kostas1601 yea but playing the E is strumming it.

  • Slash doesn't smoke any more because him mom died of lung cancer and he doesn't want that to happen to him. And Slash puts so much heart and soul into his music and the music he plays to me he is only second to Jimi, Clapton, and Page because they put the guitar in Rock & Roll!

  • Slash - the only person in the world allowed to smoke when there's a no smoking sign

  • only slash can get away with smoking a joint at an induction in this day and age

  • slash is smoking!!

  • i once tried to play like Slash. i hurt myself

  • why isn't billy cox on bass. he was on the experience from the late summer of 69' to jimi's death in 70'

  • @da08442 maybe because he was one of the most dismal players going around.

  • The thing about Slash is that he's very much a gimmick. There are so many guitarists that are better technically. I think the same about Hendrix. One thing Slash is amazing for is his dynamics and Riff writing capabilities. You only have to listen to Guns n Roses to hear that. Hendrix was a phenomenal song writer so that helped to propell his guitar playing. There was a hell of a lot of feedback and noise with his playing. But like Slash he did it with style. i love them both

  • @hayesy79 Man, playing guitar has nothing to do with technical ability, its about the soul that goes into it.

  • che stecche..

  • Don't forget about Steve Winwood.

  • Awesome. I have no words for describe it...

  • Slash playing Jimi Hendrix. Awesome.

  • Slash FÓDÃO

  • I have slowly grown to appreciate Slash. Hated him at first. But watch ZZ Top-and some other legends try to cover this. I bet Slash made Jimi smile the biggest. A rebel with soul. Outta control :)

  • slash was a really embarrassing choice. he doesn't know the blues

  • @loranceb Are you retarded? when slash plays he has that blues feel and he has alot of soul in his playing. Dont hate him when he is a stunning guitarist.

  • @pimpmasta354 believe me, slash was definetly the NOT a good choice for this song. slash is, in my opinion, the most overrated guitarist of all time.

  • @Johnnyis31RS Lots of people say that Jimi was just a drug addict who was always out of tune. I think Slash was great for this song. My only problem with this version is that he only played single notes and not any chords which sounds a bit weird. The fact that you're bashing on the most influential guitarist of the last several generations is really lame man.

  • @Nickpatient Jimi was definetly not that. If Jimi is not your favorite guitarist, he's your favorite guitarist's favorite guitarist.

  • @Johnnyis31RS He's one of my favourites. I love Jimi, I was just saying how subjective opinions can be. You think Slash is the most overrated guitarist of all time. Lots of country guys think Jimi is the most overrated guitar player of all time etc.

  • @Nickpatient True, opinions are opinions.

  • @Johnnyis31RS actually my favorite guitarists favorite guitarist is .. robert johnson. im sure robert was one of jimis favorites. if it werent for robert there would be no rock and roll.

  • @loranceb He doesn't know the blues... omg stupid, You don't know shit!

  • RIP jimi, mitch and noel!

  • @Jst0911 yes, he's a dick for using the guitar he feels most comfortable with

  • @Jst0911 Should he play left handed too, since Jimi was?

  • @robertthebard

    haha well said !:)

  • Slash does a great job here, as always. But if you want a real cool version of Hey Joe that makes the jaw drop check out Roy Buchanon doing it on " Live in Austin Texas " or better known as Austin City Limits. Dude kills it.

  • Slash is a good guitarist but Jimi was a good singer too... Take that Slash !

  • I was skeptical at first but Slash did a great job. What I like about Slash is that he has style and doesn't just shred. I don't think he even has a whammy bar on that les paul...but it almost sounds like he does. Slash plays the right notes at the right time and that's what counts. I'm not even a Slash or Rock fan but the dude sounds great.

  • Steve Winwood xD

  • Solos : 2:25 4:15

  • Na boa, gostei, sou fã do Slash, mas, porra, o cara mesmo era o Jimmi. O Jimmi foi o Pelé da guitarra.

  • Slash kills it. EVERYTIME. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Bad man guitar player. Total legend. Thanks Slash.

  • I love you Slash

  • interesting take ... hendrix's version rules though

  • I mean damn ---"who is Mitch Mitchell?"------before ya ask dumb questions do a lil research ---wow

  • @geministratman amen. thanks for the top post hand! lol

  • betcha didnt know that steve winwood was on "electricladyland".............

  • Slash why you don't do the chords and stop to do that things in the song?¿

  • ajajaja is this shit?? in most of the song I hear the bass, and slash is just posing, Slash once again be embarrassed in front of the cameras, you fucking shit guitarist!

  • Comment removed

  • Unbelievable playin...

  • Just jizz in pants...

  • 6:47 No sabia q Slash se pareciera a una paloma jajajja como mueve el cuello jajaja

  • @MrWileyk "Flavorofthemonth" is a bit condescending dont you think? For a guitarist who's had a lasting and incredibly successful career for the last 25 odd years. The band members obviously thought he was the right man for the job...

  • @connorpatmore That's only because SRV wasn't alive to play this as it would have actually sounded like Hendrix instead of GNR. Hendrix had much more soul and a lot less show off that Slash.

  • @egcroan Stop hating Slash. He gave an awesome performence with enough soul in it, And it didn't sound like GNR at all. I don't know what's wrong with this tribute.

  • @Henkie010Penkie His playing is actually terrible throughout the song (stiff, insecure, etc.), then he plays the solo in a more comfortable but generic way. Nothing to write home about, I'm afraid. You know you're going to play with Cox, Mitchell and Winwood, you'd better make sure you know what you're doing. I have nothing against Slash and don't think this song can't be played by anyone but Jimi (the Byrds' version is superb), but this is rubbish.

  • @ClueBand If he was playing as poor, stiff, insecure and arrogant as everyone says... If he was showing off and repeating himself as everyone says... And if he had limited skills and no versatility as everyone says. Why did they choose Slash to play the Tribute for the Greatest Guitarist in History in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which isn't a commercial organisation. They chose him, because he was the most suitable person for this Tribute. He did great, but some people just want to hate...

  • @Henkie010Penkie What silliness. What about Popa Chubby, Jeff Beck, Clapton, Derek Trucks, Vai and many others? We'll never know why Slash was chosen, but my guess is that he appeals to a totally different age group and demographic (while the other amazing players on stage don't), or he was simply available. Sure: some people go on the internet to get rid of steam and "hate", but others may have a sound musical education and hear the serious limitations of this guy, and be disappointed.

  • Comment removed

  • @ClueBand I agree, there might be others suitable to play this tribute. But the fact is that Slash is playing. Limitations? He created his own sound/playing style, which perfectly combines Blues with Hard Rock. He doesn't only play easy stuff, as many people blame. He made some of the best Riffs and Solo's in Rock history. I hear you say he's terrible, insecure, and that he doesn't know what he's doing. That are unclear and undefinable arguments. Just say you don't like him, don't say he's poor.

  • mitch mitchell looks like shit...no wonder he passed away..

  • awful

  • make a jimi´s tribute with a somebody else song... "madonna!!" (Soprano´s quote)

  • Man I usually hate hearing people try to play Jimi, but Slash played it with his style & didn't make a mockery of it ~ AWESOME!

  • Yes is good, he is not Jimi Hendrix, but I´ve heard never a better cover than this! And I´ve always thought that nobody can play these song! I´m frankly flat!!! Slash´s guitar solo to be kneeling down.

  • gonna shoot this crap rendetion

  • crap

  • NEITHER ONE DID

  • It's a bit sad to not only hear this song(not a good tribute song and not even by Jimi Hendrix but, "Wind Cries Mary" would have been better) but to see Mitch mitchell looking so bad and to know that he died, just about a year later.

  • Mitch Mitchell still had those fills in his hands

  • @MrWileyk he's no jimi, but he's been flavorofthelast25years. get it right :-)

  • mark knopfler at the beginning!!!

  • This might be really bad but... I don't know who Mitch Mitchel is. I figured it would be the singer but right now I just see Steve Winwood singing. Great singing though, just saying, don't know who this Mitch Mitchel guy is.

  • @jaron95628 Mitch is on drums

  • @MetallicAsDevel Ohh, my mistake.

  • @jaron95628 Mitch was the drummer for The Jimi Hendrix Experience

  • And what a drummer he was

  • @jaron95628 MM was the drummer of Jimi Hendrix Experience, passed away a year ago or so.

  • @jaron95628

    mitch mitchell was hendrix's drummer

  • @jaron95628 Mitch Mitchell was the drummer in The Jimi Hendrix Experience. One of my favorite drummers, actually.

  • Is there ever one minute when Slash doesn't have a fag hanging out his mouth?! Slash <3

  • the end was fucking awesome

  • Lose that fuckin' hat man if you are paying a tribute to jimi hendrix

Gotta love mitch mitchell and billy cox

  • @GDhaenens What does a hat have to do with playing a tribute song comprised of musical notes played on his guitar, not his hat?

  • Slash is Jimi son :D

  • when was this show

  • Slash ain't no joke! The man makes a guitar 'speak'.

  • Slash is my God <33
