Ran out of room! :-) Anyway, this was back in the middle 40's...couldn't tell you how many times we would go their. Remember (and he still does) we had a Bee Bee gun, told my buddy Al to run forward a bit so he could see the bird fall when I hit it...well, I hit him right between his two cheeks, (behind) we still laugh to this day about it, now we're almost 78...time flys when your having fun:-)
Hey, You guys did a Great job! Seems like yesterday when I use to go down their with my buddies, Dipper, Anthony, Lou, Dominic, Farmer, Mize and the rest of the gang! I use to live in Union Park Gardens, I would cross Union st. and go down the hill and take a right at the little bridge below and we would play follow the leader. Most the time, Dipper Mc Cullen would be the leader, he had the most guts and he would do and try anything jumping over the rocks. Got frogs and turtles, had fun!
I lived near Canby Park and went to Indian Rock as a kid back in the late 50's early 60's. Thanks so much for the great memories this video brought back.
I hear there is a cave there that many spray painter's go in but never go out, hey ins int there a gang called "CP-13" there the CP stands for Canby Park
WOW! Memories...as a kid growing up in the 70's on Clayton Road in Cleland Heights I remember this all so well! My husband proposed to me one the tracks near kings seat...I knew these woods and the Lions den like the back of my hand......Good Times....Good Times
This is so crazy! I remember playing on those tracks as a kid 15 years ago. It's amazing how the same old lore still is told! King's chair, the lion's den, Indian rock, the only thing missing was the witch's house! Classic CP memories!
The kids really ruined the lion's cage, no mention of the man in the top hat on the side of Indian Rock or the grave liner on the hill next to lion's cage. Cool he mentioned the Canby horse trough. Thanks for the memories it was a fun place to grow up and play.
My family and I lived in Canby Park from 1948-1953 and my buddies and I used to walk into the woods and go down to Indian Rock quite often. As you illustrated you had to wet the rock to see the Indian clearly. Amazing that this wound up on You Tube! Thanks for the memories.
Great music ! my dad would have love to this vid, he used to hunt years back in this area, and found many arrow heads in these woods,, I no longer live in Delaware, want to come back someday,,, now live half way around the world,,, great to see Delaware were I grew up by these woods by the pub. pool by St E.

Ha , i remember walking from west wilm. to hop rocks as kids.
They used to say the lion's cage fell off a train headed to a circus. It's a fuckin sewer drainage grate.
