Again, must be the first time these two new bands have combined. Why in Italia? Having the pipes in front and the band strung out behind does not make the best combined sound. Its better to inter-file the two bands together to make this kind of music. I guess the narrow Italian streets required this formation. Both bands look small, and the Royal Scots Borderers do not seem to have their own DM? Nice combind sound for "Atholl Highlanders" even if the band sounds a bit forelorn in the back.
Not the first time they played together: they had already done it in Scotland and also recorded a CD.
They were in Italy because every year our association organises tours of the British Army Bands in Italy (the PUCCINI E LA SUA LUCCA Festival & the Caledonian Academy of Tuscany)
The pipes and drums were leading due to the narrow streets where they had to march. Even though the Queen's regulations (Queen Victoria's ) stated that "in the march the Pipes and Drums will always lead" (1873)
Thats great that you have that kind of relationship to get a British band over each year. What is the name of the Cd both bands have recorded together? Thanks for filling me in on this info. Keep in touch. Viva Italia!
@YARROWS Piss off mate, i'm joining the Navy and i count myself Scottish nae English, it's the Royal Navy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, however people from Eire can also join the British Forces, its the British Army, not the English Army, all Chadstur meant was that, that regiment is Scottish, dinnae matter where the people in it are from, they join the regiment to carry on the proud traditions of a SCOTTISH regiment.
What a pity I was not there!! Please next time maximum publicity with all massmedia. I dont want lost it again!
