Does anyone know what the typeface is on the poster behind him? The stencilish looking one? I have been looking for a while, I have Glaser, which is similar but not quite the same.
I thought Arial was Helvetica, just that Microsoft couldn't use the same name. You must be incredibly observant to notice the difference... How can you tell?
@jat989 Helvetica has horizontal cutoffs for C, e, s, etc. Also, the lowercase a in Helvetica medium has a different tail. Microsoft had someone "redesign" Arial so that they wouldn't have to pay for rights to Helvetica.
After watching this, and realizing what Helvetica was, I now can't help but notice when businesses use Arial instead (not to mention the complete horror in the revelation that Helvetica is a permanent piece of the collective commercial consciousness now).
Easy little fella, it's not that serious.. It's observational humor. She may not have realized that she was in the shot considering it started not even admin in her direction.
I am a highly awarded member of the creative class. As a branding consultant, I am conflicted by my work. I spend the better portion of my day fostering corporate clients whose aim is to visually proliferate every aspect of your life. Yeah, capital R. Look at the lowercase a, g, h. Arial does have horizontal terminals, especially the lowercase letters. Its close in that Arial was designed for the screen/pc based on Helvetica, but it is not the same thing.
Robin Nicholas, the designer of Arial, said he "never wanted to recreate a font."
Helvetica was designed years before Arial. Arial is a rip off of Helvetica, created by microsoft. Watch Helvetica all the way through and you will understand.
See thats why people are getting angry that its used so much, because they think its lazyness, i think its just a nice clean font, but thats everyones opinions =)
well obviously your not artistic in anyway. you should be ashamed of your self for commenting negatively about on of the greatest films. Keep your thoughts to your self, because I guarantee you that if you continue your behaver, you will become lonely.
this film changed my life. It changed the way I look at things; The Starbucks logo over across the street, the street sign that I pass 4 times everyday, the type on my MacBook, and everything else. This is probably the most inspiring, smartest, and the most "must see" documentaries of all time. So if you have nothing to do and watching videos in YouTube, go rent this movie and watch it. Trust me, this one is a hit.
I've watched the DVD a dozen times. Just keep it running in the background while I work. What a great documentary. I'd like to see more documentaries like this.
I laughed when he said that Windows copied OSX ....

Actually, typing "Helvetica" in both Helvetica and Arial reveals differences in the lowercase letters t, c, and a.
In the lowercase t, Helvetica renders the top of the letter flat while Arial renders the top slanted down towards the left.
Lowercase c, Helvetica has the termination of the letter flat while Arial has slanted termination.
Lowercase a, Helvetica has a distinct "tail" at the end of the letter shape while Arial lacks this tail.
Nice try, though.
